In the previous episode you saw us visiting a Mermaid. In case you were wondering about the mermaid statue, it was sponsored by the late Sadun Boro, the first Turkish yachtsman who circumnavigate the world, he and his wife Oda Boro did it in a small wooden boat they built themselves, called Kismet.
The inscription underneath the mermaid says:
‘this mermaid crossed endless oceans and horizons, visited many islands and bays to find the paradise of her dreams, until she arrived in Gökova’.
Sadun Boro always said this of all the places he visited during his circumnavigation, Gökova was his paradise. He was a remarkable human being, wrote many pilot books and is a father to all Turks who love the sea.
So we wonder if we still need to sail the world or to see it with our own eyes ;)
