Two Patrons onboard for Winter sailing in Montenegro

A year ago we received a message from Andrew, explaining us his plans to sail the world together with his friend Jason. A beautiful story of two friends who served their country for many years and they found via YouTube a sailing channel called Delos to get away from their reality, they started following this channel and a spark was ignited. They created a plan to take high risk jobs to stop working early and start sailing the world like Delos.  They did an extensive research on boats and wanted to go for an Amel Super Maramu but then found out a Beneteau 57 is a better option.

And so it started, we got in contact and Andrew wanted to know every inch of the boat, to learn every detail of the refit and all kind of questions. Then he found out our plan to cross the Atlantic Ocean and offered us all kind of advantages to take him and Jason with us.  We kept Andrew and Jason in the loop, told them we were not sure to invite some "strangers" onboard for a 3 week Atlantic Crossing but Andrew kept pushing and contacting us. He wanted to get onboard the Perfect Sense and brain pick everything we learned along the way from sailing, the B57 and the refit.   So, the moment we decided to stay the winter in Montenegro we thought, if these guys are really serious and crazy enough, they would not mind 3 flights all the way from the United States to come to Montenegro, facing cold weather, strong winds, probably a lot of rain to join us. We thought, this will scare them off, WRONG. NO WAY, the moment I send an email to Andrew he immediately started to find flights and long story short, last week we welcomed them onboard.

We found an AirBnB for Rianne and Benjamin so they could stay warm and cosy and I could fully focus on sharing all my knowledge regarding sailing, the Perfect Sense, the refit, YouTube and business ideas and we had a wonderful week together. They were so lucky, 15 days in a row before their arrival we had continuous rain and very strong winds. But the moment they stepped onboard the sun came up and we had some amazing winter sailing.  They filled the boat with Coca Cola, Energy drinks, Steaks and off we go, American Style ;)

The first night we dropped anchor in the dark in the bay of Kotor and faced some wind guts up to almost 40 knots, Jason slept like a baby (he also sleeps during a rocket attack he told me) and Andrew woke me up after the anchor alarm went off. Luckily we did not drag anchor but only faced a windshift of 90 degrees causing the alarm at 4 o clock in the morning. After everything was set, imagine 35 knots of freezing wind he asked me for some ice cubes in his soda, I was blown away but hey, we have an ice maker onboard and if you want ice you can get some.   The following days were filled with joy, laughter, serious talking, wonderful sunsets and jokes only men can make. The final evening we had dinner all together with Rianne and Benjamin, Andrew and Jason wanted to learn as much as possible about the financials and YouTube to start sailing as soon as possible so now it was Rianne's turn to share everything.

Our plan is to get Andrew and Jason out on the ocean as soon as possible because we believe they have a solid plan and you never know if tomorrow will come. Their plan is to work for 2/3 more years so they can start their adventure with their B57 called SV Trident so let's see which plan life has in mind for them.   It was such a pleasure to have Patrons onboard.

Have a great day and much love from all of us.

Gerben, Rianne & Benjamin
