Added 2023-03-06 18:00:04 +0000 UTCAt this point I'm wondering if chad has some kind of marine invertebrate-related curse. He should probably stop going to the beach.
Before researching I actually thought the sea star's mouth and anus were the same hole, but it turns out their anus is actually directly opposite their mouth, on their back. That other little hole (the off center one) is where they take in water.
Maybe the top right panel is a bit too upsetting. Maybe I'll make a unique version for folks with trypophobia or nix it altogether. We'll see.

All true. They are the one of two invertebrate phylums that are deuterosomes like vertebrates, meaning they develop ass first ~ Something we share in common with them lol

2023-03-06 23:35:08 +0000 UTCI think I remember seeing something about that, but I glossed over it since I wouldn't be drawing any starfish embryos. I did learn though that starfish larvae are planktonic, and have bilateral symmetry instead of pentalateral!
