In this video, I compare OpenAI's Sora with Hunyuan bf16, and the results might surprise you! Despite being a quantized version of a much larger model, Hunyuan manages to come impressively close in performance. The Sora videos are directly from the OpenAi website. The Hunyuan videos were made on my local machine w/ a RTX 4090.

Hunyuan is specifically designed for smaller, single GPUs, running on just 16-24GB VRAM thanks to FP8 and FP16 optimizations. However, it’s important to note that this is a reduced version. The full-scale Hunyuan model requires a massive 40-65GB VRAM! Imagine how incredible those results must be!

On the other hand, OpenSora showcases cutting-edge advancements, proving why it’s a leader in this space. But Hunyuan’s quantized version shows that open-source innovation is catching up fast.
