2021-06-29 06:02:53 +0000 UTCIt comes from the fact that, historically, women were expected to stay with their husbands regardless of their husbands actions whereas when women were adulterous or emotional or in crisis they were typically heavily medicated or put in a mental institution or simply left by their husbands. So nowadays women make it clear that you don't get to expect someone to be perfect every day of the week especially in a relationship. I will agree in modern days the saying can apply to every gender.
