There's a misunderstanding about how the cure works. At first, they THOUGHT that you needed to drink every drop of person's blood to get the cure from them. They found out that wasn't true when Katherine survived. Katherine is fully human. She's not a vampire, she didn't die when Silas took the cure from her blood. Likewise, Silas did not die when Amara took the cure from his blood.
