I mean Stefan knows Damon more than anyone because that’s his brother and Stefan knows Elena because he dated her so Stefan can guess how they would talk and have arguments and Elena is in college to become a doctor and Stefan knows this so of course he know he will have to go through school then residency then become a doctor which takes a lot of years and can break relationships because becoming a doctor is very stressful and time consuming and takes patience and we know how Damon gets so I think the flashbacks were great and I know we can’t predict the future but Damon and Elena fights a lot and Stefan has been there to see their relationship and with Bonnie she doesn’t have the 100 witches but she is better able to handle spells and with different covens come different spells so something tells me the Gemini coven is great at invisibility spells and the Bennett coven is good at fire and pain inflection but you have to remember most regular witches show powers when they are young and train but bonnie found out she was a witch when she was in high school so she is still learning and getting better so most witches find out at about 4 or 5 but bonnie found out at about 16 or 17 because season 1 was the beginning of 9th grade or 10th and season 3 was 11th grade season 4 was 12th grade because they graduated and season 5 they started college and we are in season 6 and they are still in college so Bonnie just had been working on her powers for around 3 to 4 years which is pretty good considering she has no one to teach her , so she is probably learning everything from books by herself

Tbf even Stefan needed time after turning his humanity back on in S3. Caroline’s just lost her mum and is dealing with the guilt from what she did while her humanity was off so it makes sense that she needs time before committing to a relationship with Stefan. She waited for him to realise his feelings, so he can wait for her to deal with her grief.

I think Elena was doing a good thing for Damon. It’s not about trust, it’s a lot of pressure to have Damon change his entire existence solely for her. And Stefan was being real when he said that breakups and death happens. In the short time they’ve been together Elena and Damon have broken up like 3 times 😂 Fact is if Elena wasn’t in the equation, Damon wouldn’t want to be human.
