Just because the villain tries to rationalize something doesn't make him right. He says I never forced anyone to play that game. But the first rule is that players are not allow to stop playing, that would be forcing. For the first game players were told that if they follow the rules that would live, but they never said that they would need to kill eachother in tug-of-war or with the marble game, or that that would purposely give them less food to cause massacre during the night, which wasn't even officially one of the games, or that they might die from exploding glass after the game was already over. They manipulated them rather than "forcing" also once everyone came back and saw that the games were not exactly fair they couldn't stop playing unless the majority voted to go home so they couldn't go home even if they wanted to, which again is still forcing. And since they allow players to kill eachother between the games, those players could just easily kill anyone who decides to go home. They should have been straight forward about all the games and that there would only be one winner from the beginning, then a lot of people probably would not have gone in the first place or come back for the second game.
