Proper Haiku aren’t as easy as they have a different mentality behind them than western poems and particularly are not meant to express the writers feelings but rather inspire own feelings in others. It’s way harder to do properly than western poems especially for westerners trust me

2026-02-05 08:36:24 +0000 UTCPro tip for when you have to write a poem but don’t know what to do. Just write a haiku. They’re only 3 lines, and they don’t even have to rhyme. Plus they’re often meant to be kind of profound and thought provoking, so if it makes no sense, that’s alright too. You can write one in 45 seconds. Easiest way to get done with an assignment. There’s my questionably useful poetry tip for the day. o7

I also rewatched ‘Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind’ last night, so the line “you are the nicest dream I’ve seen” really got to me. This was such a nice change of pace though. I was in my feels before this, but you really helped lighten me up, thank you!

But as dark as the world might seem to my eye, There’s still light left that helps me get by. When the light that my eyes perceive fails, The light in my ear is the one that prevails. I hear your voice and start to smile, The cold world of grey fades for a while. Contentment fills my body and soul, For a respite in time it makes me feel whole. I take it with me wherever I go, This voice from the heavens that soothes us below.
