Mythosville
Added 2015-12-15 13:15:43 +0000 UTCA fairly nondescript medium sized town just down the road from Bumfuck, Idaho and somewhere to the north of Podunksville. A fairly self contained and self sufficient community it's been mostly left alone by the outside world.
Big industry made brief inroads at the beginning of the 20th century but construction abruptly, and unexplainedly, stopped, leaving the town peaceful and unpolluted.
A visitor to the town might notice some quirkiness however - in spite of the thoroughly modern facilities like excellent cellphone reception and townwide free wifi access things like a '38 Oldsmobile pulling up in the parking lot of a '50s style diner (complete with waitresses in gingham dresses and high heels) tend to cause a double take.
As does a pretty girl in tight tailored wool skirt suit, seamed hose and heels looking like she's just walked out of a film noir strutting down the street past the cinema where they have a matinee showing of Forbidden Planet.
There's examples of smart style and fashion from every decade since the twenties on every street, a visitor might start getting disturbed by this strangeness that everyone else doesn't even notice .... except after a few hours they stop noticing, hey it's just the way this town is right.
And a few hours after leaving they don't really remember much about the place.
If someone was capable of noticing more they might note that the churches are empty and run down, if not downright derelict; that the adult shops in town, a surprising number of them for a town this size, do a booming trade especially in fetish and BDSM gear; that everyone keeps themselves in shape and that everyone dresses smart no matter what era clothing they wear, on any given street the only men not wearing smart shoes and the only women not wearing high heels are those clad in exercise gear out jogging.
To the residents the place is of course known as 'home'.
Everything is about to change.
Three young women explore the factory at the heart of the abandoned industrial estate. Empty since the mid 20's anything of value has been removed and either re-used or sold leaving an empty shell, surprisingly intact in spite of it's rather grungy appearance.
There were other properties available in town but this one ticked all the boxes; ample parking, far enough away from residential areas that noise pollution would be non existent, good road access and a sizeable building with multiple levels.
Internally the layout was almost perfect - the main factory floor would make an excellent dance area with a mezzanine for a more relaxed/refined area, admin section for offices and store rooms and then there were the basement and sub-basements ....
If these were in good condition then they could use one for goth, another for metal, yet another for BDSM & fetish .... this place had all the makings of being the best club in existence, and the owners were willing to part with it for a song.
It looked like another of Jess' uncanny hunches was paying off. They checked their torches and made their way into the sub levels ....
