I won't spoil -- just want to summarize/clarify a few things: The Eldians living under Marley control are treated like second-class citizens (as we saw in Eren's flashbacks of his father's memories, there are even places in the city they are not allowed to go). They're all marked with an armband to signify their Eldian heritage, and are legally bound to wear said armband whenever they leave home. Just as Jews were legally bound to wearing the yellow badge in Nazi Germany. Since only Eldians are capable of turning into titans, the military nation of Marley treats them as nothing more than titan attack-dogs and cannon-fodder. If Marley didn't need their Eldian population in order to weald titan power, they would surely kill them all to be rid of the "filthy devils" without hesitation. The Marley Eldians have all been brain-washed by propaganda to believe they are the "good" Eldians who are paying retribution for the sins of their ancestors, while the island devils of Paradise are the true evil of the world -- the final flag-bearers for all their problems. Becoming a "warrior" I.E. one of the 9 special titans is treated as a great honor. Warriors seem to be marked by special red-striped armbands.

Mappa are doing something weird with the animation, there are parts that are so unjarringly fluid sandwiched amongst the conventionally animated scenes making it uncanny, but it doesn't really detract me from enjoying the story...so far. Answering your question, titan shifters live 13 years due to the curse of ymir(we were told this on season 3). That was a very uncreative fake spoiler you encountered haha.
