Chapter 27: Night Visitor!

Seeing that brilliant beam of lightning emanating from Luffy's arm surprised everyone. The blue beam travelled for a rough distance of 100 meters before dissipating into the air.

"Whoa! How the heck did you pull that off?" Ussop asked, his mouth practically hitting the floor.

"I told you already, it's because of a magic spell," Luffy explained.

"No way, you were serious about that? I thought you were pulling our legs, relying on some devil fruit trickery," Ussop confessed, his eyes now gleaming with fascination. "Captain, can you teach me that too?" he asked eagerly.

"You don't have any magic, Ussop. So, unfortunately, you won't be able to learn it," Luffy stated plainly, causing Ussop to deflate in disappointment.

"Is magic real?" Kaya asked, equally fascinated by the revelation that the things she had only read about in novels were actually real, much like the existence of devil fruits.

"It is real. How else could I have done what I did without the existence of magic?" Luffy chuckled.

"Well, it's great to know you didn't waste our hard-earned money this time," Nami chipped in happily after witnessing Luffy successfully learn the spell, realizing that it was possible to utilize magic to unleash the spells listed in the system.

Zoro then stepped forward, asking Luffy to use the spell on him. Of course, he wasn't a masochist who enjoyed getting hit by lightning. Zoro simply wanted to witness the power behind the magic spell.

Just as Luffy was about to accept Zoro's request, Nami intervened, putting her foot down and stating the impracticality of a lightning pulse on a wooden ship, as it could potentially cause a fire and damage their vessel.

"Tch! You're such a spoilsport," Zoro grumbled at Nami, who responded in kind.

Smack!

"Ow, ow, ow! What's up with you, woman?" Zoro winced in pain, rubbing the little bump raised on his head by Nami's fist.

"No means no. Now go and help Luffy repair the railing. Ussop, make sure they don't cause any more damage," Nami asserted. Zoro was like 'Why the fuck was I included?'. He was silently questioning his inclusion, but he decided not to voice his complaint anymore. Nami was proving to be strong; her punch from earlier still stung Zoro.

"Yes, Ma'am," Ussop complied with a salute.

"Let's go, Kaya. We need to prepare some food for dinner."

"Ah... sorry, but I've never made any food," Kaya admitted as she followed Nami to the kitchen.

"No worries. I'm no culinary expert either, but you can assist me and learn," Nami reassured as they both entered the kitchen.

The boys started patching new wood onto the railing while the girls prepared dinner.

Later, during the meal, Kaya finally brought up the topic of the system.

"Luffy-san, what did you mean when you said you bought the magic spell from the system?" Kaya asked. Ussop perked up; he was also curious about what Luffy meant.

Luffy, who had just devoured seven unevenly cooked chickens, cleared his throat and said, "Oh, that. Since you've joined my crew, I'll share a secret about myself that you're not allowed to disclose to anyone else."

As Luffy spoke with a serious tone, Kaya and Ussop sat upright, listening attentively. However, the more they learned about the system, the harder it became for them to believe.

"So you mean, you can even buy Devil fruits with money from your system?" Ussop asked curiously.

"Yes, all those that are present in the world but yet to be eaten by someone," Luffy replied.

"How did you come to possess this technology, I mean this system?" Kaya couldn't help but ask.

"I woke up one day, and it was there," Luffy stated matter-of-factly.

"I still can't believe it. And you are the only one who can see the system?" Ussop inquired.

"Well, Nami and Zoro can see it too, as they have cleared a requirement to get access," Luffy explained, receiving nods from both Zoro and Nami.

"Really, what's the requirement?" Ussop asked again.

"Ah, well, I can't tell you the requirement upfront. But I believe you both would eventually clear it someday," Luffy said. It was challenging to disclose it directly to Ussop and Kaya, as he did with Zoro. Maybe he could tell Ussop, but with Kaya present, it didn't seem right.

"Right, let's clean the dishes and then go to sleep. Since it's our first night on the ship, who's gonna volunteer to be on night watch?" Nami asked, glancing at Luffy, Zoro, and Ussop. While Luffy was out of the question as he was the Captain, a position that came with a few privileges, he wouldn't mind doing the work if asked.

"I will do it," Zoro raised his hand. Having had enough sleep during the day, he had no problem staying up all night and keeping watch.

Soon, they cleared the table, did the dishes, and went to sleep. Kaya and Nami took the women's room below the room, which served as the storage and cannon deck. The entrance to the room was inside the storage, which also led to the bathroom. Merry had installed two small beds for Kaya and Nami in the women's room. Additionally, there was an emergency exit in the women's room that led to the men's rooms.

The men's room, located below deck, had its entrance by the mast. It featured a couple of hammocks, a sofa, and a cabinet for storing clothes.

As much as Luffy loved the Going Merry, it was small and lacked rooms, so he couldn't have a personal space where he could sleep with Nami. Unless he introduced Ussop and Kaya to their lifestyle, it would be uncomfortable for a while.

Luffy had a hard time sleeping, and as the hours went by, he found it increasingly uncomfortable. Restlessness filled him, and he tossed and turned, unable to find a comfortable position. His mind wandered to various thoughts, making it difficult to find tranquility on this new ship without Nami by his side.

He was deciding whether he should barge into a women's room, fuck Nami without caring about anyone else. Still, he didn't let his urge to overpower his will and do something stupid.

After some time during that night, he heard a subtle noise, a door creaking open. It was the emergency exit door, and someone had entered the men's room through it. In the dark room, Luffy's expression shifted to a smile as he discerned the silhouette of the person entering.
