Such a good episode, and more to come - that carriage heist one shot! Yes a huge oversight not to confirm the governor was incapacitated when he was flung from the carriage. Perhaps hubris? Although if Hornigold's reinforcements hadn't arrived, Vane was winning that fight. I too love the way they shoot this show - the shaft of light across scenes looking like a painting. You can always see the important things in night shots (looking at you, Game of Thrones).

But you're right, that was a big oversight not to take 10 seconds to deal with Rogers before going to grab Jack. But it was great getting back into it, and I thought they did a good job with Max and Eleanor figuring out the plan. Side note, there's really nothing much known about Jack Rackham's childhood, but he was known IRL as "Calico Jack" for his flamboyant calico cotton clothing that he preferred. I thought the writers took that and created a pretty interesting and believable backstory for how he might have become a pirate, and why he might come to be known by that moniker.
