I'm Bored, Ask Me for Horror Movie Recommendations
Added 2017-06-20 12:43:55 +0000 UTCI know this is *sorta* off topic as it's not an art update or anything, but have I ever mentioned that horror is my favorite genre? I personally prefer supernatural/psychological stuff, stretching out into fantasy/scifi and good ol' monster movies of course! And slashers are alright too, if that's your thing.
But anyway for a hoot, I figured if anyone wanted a recommendation, hit me up in the comments. Let me know what sort of horror you like and I'll try to come up with something new and cool you'd like.
Here's a freebie: Like Alien, but also like older movies? Consider "Queen of Blood" and "It! The Terror From Beyond Space", the two movies Alien essentially does a combo remake of.

Oh my goodness, this is a nice broad mandate! I'm gonna fire off a broad swatch here, but let me knw if there's a flavor you'd like to focus in on. Just off the bat there's Species of course, which is probably the biggest budget *human alien hybrid bred to breed and kill!* type story we'll ever see out of Hollywood... for something a little more nuanced, Ginger Snaps is a very good werewolf movie (with a TERRIBLE title) and "Let the Right One In" is a suprisingly fresh vampire story. You could go the goofy route with Bride of Chucky (Jennifer Tilly, rrrRRRrrr!). If 80s gore is your thing, Hellraiser 2 tempts you to focus on the cenobites, but Clive Barker always saw hell-escapee Julia as the true monster of the series. Of course you could go old school and there's always the 50s AND 90s versions of Wasp Woman. :)

2017-06-21 03:38:24 +0000 UTCI've only head good things about Get Out! BH and I are definitely going to see it soon. Don't Breathe is a new one to me (that I now want to track down, thank you). Have you seen Hush? That's another very good suspenseful movie that plays off of a very terrifying but grounded in reality scenario.

2017-06-20 16:35:40 +0000 UTCParanormal Activity is the reason Better Half and I now find an excuse to yell "JUST CALL THE DEMONOLOGIST ALREADY" at the screen during any horror movie now. π

2017-06-20 14:42:29 +0000 UTCAgreed!! Criminally under appreciated horror sci-fi from the director of Poltergeist (and Texas Chainsaw Massacre... man, Tobe Hooper has a diverse list of movies, doesn't he?)

2017-06-20 14:33:57 +0000 UTCI love horror, too! Especially minimalist horror -- I really loved the shit out of the first Paranormal Activity, but... well, we all know what happened there. For that matter I dug the original Saw for being more of a thriller with an interesting premise and a fun twist at the end.
