2025 Plans

Hey, I’ve been inactive for a very long while, and it’s easy now to say it was all due to burnout.

I was unhappy with what I was creating and how I was doing it. I was unsatisfied with their quality and was displeased by my reason for making them. At some point, I was making them just to have content out to keep money flowing. Despite this, I was still making stuff, which resulted in them taking more time.

I knew I had to make some changes in how I approached art. This took me a long time, as I was still thinking about the people who financially supported me and the responsibility of giving what they paid for asap. I am grateful for all the support I receive, and it boggles my mind that I still have many patrons despite not posting anything.
The irony is that the best way for me to create is to not care about anything other than myself: what people say, whether positive or negative, how my work will be received, how much attention and money it will earn, how long it will take to finish, and even my actual art. The biggest change in my approach is fully letting go of these things. I’m focusing solely on creating something great.

I'd say I regained my full productivity in August. I know I have unrealistic expectations for myself, wanting to do fan animations alongside multiple original projects. I loathe myself for not being able to do them consistently, but I’m still not giving up on that; I just want to do better.

My new workflow is honestly dumb and nonsensical. I’ve just been working on more things simultaneously. With this workflow, I can do whatever I’m feeling at the moment (sketch, colors, backgrounds, etc.), and I won’t need to force myself to do a particular task when I’m not feeling it.

This also gives me more time to judge my work and ensure I’m happy with it. Before, I felt I couldn’t judge my work properly because I was trying to release it asap. What often happened was that I thought my work looked good when it was freshly finished, but I’d find faults I’d want to fix when I looked at it later. I’m not trying to be a perfectionist; I just want to have no regrets.

Status of my current projects:

Fan Animations
Currently, I’m doing an impossible quest of lewding all the zzz girls.

AGRSS

I’ve already mentioned this, but I’ve been remaking the game from scratch because I was unsatisfied with its quality. I also didn’t have a clear vision when I started the project. I mostly made things up as I updated. Now, I have a clearer direction, not just for Agrss but for all original projects I want to do.
Most new visuals were done when I was still burned out, and I considered redoing them again. Ultimately, I decided not to, as I chose not to care too much about it.

CRIMR

I started this project mainly to do something different (pixel animations). Like Agrss, it has the same issue of not having a clear vision when starting. Now, I need to figure out how to fit what I have already started into the final product of Agrss. Considering my dissatisfaction with my past works, I’d honestly want to remake my first Vel vn too. If I were to do that, Crimr also can’t be too similar in gameplay. This project is on hold before those other things are finalized.

Holy Maiden Era

Initially, this project would have been much simpler—similar to the Vel vn, which had only a few shots between the lewd scenes. It turned out to be much more elaborate, with many more shots for each update. It’s currently lower on my priority list, but I’ve already done the character art for all the shots for the first build. I’ve done most of them after my burnout.

Thanks for caring and reading to the end. I mainly wanted to show that I haven’t been doing jackshit for the past months. New stuff would come eventually.

Hey KamuoGame, im new here and i wanted to know where can we download the games you did ? Nice work btw

DiGiTaL87

I never said I wouldn't publish on steam. They will be on steam once they're actually done.

KamuoGame

Hi, KamuoHen, we really appreciate your work, there are a couple of questions here that I would like you to answer. And so you said that you create games for the money, didn't you? That's why you won't publish the full game or the demo version of AGRSS in steam, or any other games. If I were you, I'd give money for that. There are also more questions from the Russian community: Will there be any more scenes with the characters, or are these all there and will only be a refinement of the plot. Thank you in advance for your reply, we really appreciate your efforts <3

I don't think you realize you're describing exactly the same thing I said. The "how" and "my style" you speak of are the same as my philosophy of never settling for average. It drives how I create. My style, characters, attention to detail, etc., are all born from that mindset. If I didn't have this philosophy, you wouldn't say my production quality is beyond industry standards. Quality that doesn't go beyond the standards is exactly what people would expect from most artists.

KamuoGame

"If the game I'm making is something that any of you, my fans, could easily think of, I don't see the value in creating it." Hm. I do really appreciate and also kind of admire that spirit of yours but I don't think it's true. We are your fans because you created games like AGRSS and your fan animations. Even if we *could* have had the same *idea*, you were the one who created those works and you created them in your way. That's what we value: that you created them and *how* you did. Your style, your characters, your love for the details and the overall production quality that already is way beyond "industry standards". Even old AGRSS is the highest quality VN that I've played in ages, especially considering that you made it alone. What I want to say is: art does not always need a ground-breaking new concept or a visionary idea in order to be valuable. I think even the most simple idea can make a stunning peace of art just by *how* you adapt it in your personal way. Please keep that in mind: every single one of your animations and artworks made your fans happy. Not because they were revolutionary or mindbreaking but because we love the way you draw and animate and the characters you create.

Anonym271

I have said that before, but even that is just accepting incompetency. If I want to do better, I need to transcend that issue and make fan animations that are timeless—something people like for the art, not just because of the established character. That game you just described is the most generic game format. Practically, that's how Agrss was when I made it before, and that's another big reason I didn't like it, aside from the art quality. If the game I'm making is something that any of you, my fans, could easily think of, I don't see the value in creating it.

KamuoGame

That's precisely what I explained in this post. In my case, my motivation has changed over the years. I started Kamuo for money first because I needed it, but I got tired of that.

KamuoGame

Like others said, We're here to support. Not for a product. When you're constantly giving us update it really show that you cared. Also not to pressure but a little advice, one of the reasons burnout happens is not knowing your actual goal. Are you here for money? a bigger fan base? or you just want to make the best possible thing for your fans(or other reasons). You need to realize it and follow it before your goal, which is what motivate you, starting to fade away as you slowly unnoticeably lose motivation. (English isn't my first language sorry if it's confusing or rude by any chance).

Nothing towin

Kamuo, you said there's no point in doing fan animations since they don't get used anywhere and are basically thrown away after publication. If I were you, I'd make a game with all the characters you've already animated. You already have the base, all you need to do is a linear adventure, the animations are already there after all. You create a character and send him on an adventure to find an artefact, and the road will stretch across locations with your already animated characters. It all lies on the surface, I don't understand why you haven't thought of it yet and created such a game.

BukikuB

It's not merging them into one game but making sure they have the same themes rather than Crimr being just a random spinoff with nothing to do storywise.

KamuoGame

They're still not finished

KamuoGame

I won't be going anywhere even if you quit for good. You created one of my first visual novels, so you will always have a special place in my heart no matter what decisions you make Kamuo.

As other users have said, I'm mainly here not because I'm expecting content, but because I want to support you. There's many sites out there where people leak Patreon rewards, and I could easily be just getting everything you post from there, but I appreciate the content you post and that you want to put your heart into it. That's why I have a membership. Also, side note, is that ZZZ content in the screenshot on your main Patreon account, or is it unreleased?

ColdSledge

I'd also throw my hat in the ring that I didn't come to join the Patreon simply because I expected triple A content at a yearly pace even. Look at major titles that flop constantly. I joined up to support someone that I felt delivered work they wanted to create that enjoyers like myself can partake in. So take your time and make something you like and don't cater to what people demand, I'll be here supporting throughout, even if it's not something I care for. You've got talent and as impressive as it is that you want to see yourself grow and develop as a creator, don't worry about the fans. I think it's fair to say the true ones will stay and support your work!

Conner Seyfert

Patreon is supposed to be a support platform, not an e-shop right? So there is no promise of pumping out stuff asap. I think, what most of the people want is going on this journey of practicing art with you, and making it possible for you to invest your time into it, because we are curious what fruits it will bear. I actually think that your workflow is not particularly "dumb". If it suits your needs and lets you get work done long term, then thats good. You can think about ramping up efficiency if you have a good run or the spare resources. In this next part i can only talk about your game projects since i ever only pledged here: Of course, as money is involved, some value needs to be returned eventually, thats one thing you have been thinking of right? And i think you can make something of this approach. If you are worried that people might jump ship, give us little teasers or thoughts, from WiPs to opinions about new tools or workflows, anything. It shows us that you keep engaging with topic relevant matter, and i think that is all most supporters expect short to mid-term. Deploying a new build, alone, is a lot of work after all. But well, this is just one mans opinion, whatever you decide to do, i wish you well

Voidkravter

Considering the fact that you wanting to merge AGRSS and CRIMR into one product I recommend you strongly to look at example that was recently released on Steam: MiSide - it a short game for 4-8 hours and it have many different concept built into it and it all works well. It have VN aspects too, as well at other type of gameplay. So I think it could give you a good example of how to merge CRIMR into AGRSS. And also - MiSide was made by only 2 devs, so it would be relatable because you making project by yourself.

XCanG

I can honestly understand how you feel, especially when making games and then having to fix faults and other things you haven't seen right before, please take your time, it's good to know you have a new way of working and that it's effective, I can't wait to see your future lewd animations and changes in your games in the future! I want to keep following the story of what happens with the Grim Reapers and the human and also enjoy the animations you work on for so long. Keep trying your best Kamuo! :)

Tako

I'm glad you're doing fine. No one is in a rush I will continue to support you even if it takes a long time 👍

Glad to hear from you, as someone who likes your art for what it is I don't mind the wait, your quality is by far some of the best I've seen in the industry so I'll support you all the way
