A Godslayer in a School

Chapter 2


Generally speaking, I have four authorities which two are permanently active authorities.


King's authority, in a sense, can be described as the Olympus Court. Not very useful unless I am fighting a Greek God, and honestly, I have no idea how it will be useful against Poseidon, who is a God King in a sense.


But, on a side note, I can see through lies, and of course, I can add 'people to court,' which rather works like a boon for me. I can also give buffs to my people like a King gives bonuses to his followers.


The second Permanent passive ability is the God-King Body. It permanently boosts all of my physical parameters. Something akin to the description as if a Campione's body stats were ranked B-tier, then with this Authority, they went up to A-tier.


It's based on the fact that Hercules' father was Zeus, and he, as a Demigod, inherited his father's strength.


According to the myths, Hercules had the strength of a deity which means his father must have been stronger or as strong as him.


One could say that, in a sense, this is Hercules's Authority.


'I guess his philandering helped me and will benefit me in the long term….' 


I snorted internally over the fact that it was Hercules's fame that allowed me to gain impressive physical strength.


Now back to my active powers, the first one which I wanted to mention is the Authority of the God of the Skies.


This one gives me unparalleled privileges in the skies alongside the ability to fly without using any magic. It is something akin to a passive buff.


And the last one is the most famous Authority of Zeus, which is the God of Lightning and Thunder.


This Authority comes in two parts. One is absolute power over Electricity and Lightning. An extremely lethal Authority against mortals but not much against Divinities.


However, this is where the second part comes into play. Once per day, I can form the 'Master Bolt' and 'Smite' a single target with it.


This was the very same power that I used to kill Zeus. I 'Smote' him with Master Bolt.


The Master Bolt is an extremely powerful attack with Anti-Divinity properties. Moreover, it deals even more damage to Greek Gods, shedding light on the fact that one should not fight their King.


However, the side effect of using such a powerful Authority is that it seals away my God of Lightning and Thunder Authority for a single day.


This means that this move is my trump card and should only be used in a stalemate or for an insta-kill.


Now onto more pressing matters.


Since I was on the clock the next morning, I called Erica and told her to come see me.


It was time to test my powers, and she should, by this point, teach me about magic tricks.


"So, where are you taking me?" She curiously asked as we were walking on an empty gravel street.


"To an isolated place where I can use my Authority and you can show me some magic." 


"… you know that your… Zeus’s Authorities are very destructive." The blonde said that to me as we had just arrived at a crossroads; in front of us were grasslands; once we passed the asphalted road which goes vertically from where I stand, we were clear to go to the valley which was formed from the river which is in the middle of it.


"This is why I said that my Authorities are versatile.." As I said that, I showed her my hand, and lightning was running between my fingers.


When she saw that, she had an understanding look.


"...I see… this IS quite versatile."


"Yes. So we are gonna train. More like, you will help me train, which will allow me to get the hang of things." 


She nodded at me as we started to walk towards a small woodland area which has a clearing.


(A.N: The very same forest area where Marcus finds Artemis in D&A before fighting in the stadium, which is not far from the forest area, and another version of Raynor trains his Rinnegan here.)


"...This is the first time in my life that I hear that I will help a Campione to practice… even if someone told me a couple of days ago that I would be a knight to one, I would have stabbed that person." She exclaimed with a sigh.


"Truly? It's hard for me to see the difference, yet."


"That's because you were introduced to the supernatural as a Campione. A being at the very top of what a mortal can achieve!


Even then, the one who achieves that does it with dumb luck and the right circumstances!" She said with a somewhat resigned tone as we approached a boulder in the middle of the said clearing.


"I see; anyway, I suppose we should start with magic manipulation. Won't it allow me to sense my reserves and feel how much magic I have left?" I proposed to her.


For a moment, she had a thoughtful look.


"It depends on the Authorities, I suppose. Some have a set amount of magic which you could use once per day regardless.


Others are much more versatile and could be used on a variety of levels, but they would stop working once you are out of energy." 


I nodded at her; this sounded familiar. 


"I see; I thought so. Still, though, you know quite a bit about Authorities and Campiones." I pointed that out. I wonder if the Italian King is such a chatterbox.


"That's because I am descended from one, and my family has been dealing with Demon Lords and Campione's for many years.


We have been recording them for a very long time." She said that while looking around.


"Oh? The difference?"


"It should be obvious. Ones are quite helpful to mortals. Others are Tyrants and oppressors. There have been many of them over the years. Even now, we have one Demon Lord in the Balkans, and I am pretty sure you have heard of him." 


One of my eyebrows went up for a second. Demon Lord in the Balkans?


The first thing which came to my mind was:


"Dracula?"


"Yes and no. You have one which was in 15 century Vlad Tepes. And then you have Voban. The oldest living Campione is above 300 years old.


He has the Authority to control the dead and wolves, as well as several weather Authorities. Do you see the difference with the current pop culture of vampires?"


My eyes for a second widened as I made the connection. Certain vampires have abilities to shapeshift into things like bats and Wolves, as well as Necromancy.


"You telling me that he is the one who made the current image of vampires?" I asked her with some disbelief. Hell, I wasn't expecting to learn the truth about vampires today!


"To top it all off, he lives in an old castle. But yes, I am saying that he is the most likely cause of why we have werewolf myths and novels like Twilight." She said that with a sarcastic smile.


"...Right…I didn't need to know that. But anyway, back to magic, Is there a way to control and sense it in one's body?"


Erica nodded at me before crossing her hands. The 


"It shouldn't be hard for you since your reserves are ridiculous in size compared to regular mortals.


Most of the time, it's a mental image, but since you have such a versatile Authority based on lightning, try sensing it and picking up the flow of power." She gave me some tips which I was thinking of doing. But the whole mental image sounded extremely close to what they say in light novels.


"Right, let's do it then."

Never in her life did she expect to end up as a knight to the newest-born Campione of all things!


For one, she should be quite terrified because of how chaotic these Godslayers are!


The blonde has been paying extremely close attention to her new Lord. She is looking for the quirk each Campione has.


For Voban, it's a fetish for Hunts; for the Italian King, Lord Salvatore Doni is his fetish for Swords. For the American King, it's Cosplaying as a Hero, while for the Chinese King is Martial Arts.


Erica still hasn't seen what is the thing which makes her Lord click.


All Campione's have it, and she will see it one way or another.


For now, she wants to see how well he can pick up his magic!


It took her years to learn how to—


"I think I got it!"


—control her energy.


'Truly… Demon Kings…'  The blonde's eyebrow twitched as she realised that he had done this in a mere moment while she had to spend several years to get control over her magic.


"Are you sure?" Erica asked him from the side as she was observing him sitting on the boulder.


"Yeah. I used the method I saw in Bleach."


"Bleach?" She asked him, as she had never heard about this.


"It's an anime. The method is quite simple. Imagine pitch-black darkness and place yourself inside a glass container of some sort in this very darkness. For me, it was related to the Authority which I got from Zeus. I made it as blue sky colour as possible. So that I could contrast with the darkness."


As he was explaining, her eyes slightly widened as what he said sounded quite…a good way of doing it!


"So I tried this method when I channelled some of my lightning. I felt a huge, pyre-like amount of energy in my body."


"You are on the right path. This sounds about right. Try to take full control of it. According to stories about the Chinese King, she has complete control over her magic, and according to sources, she is one of the most powerful Kings in the world."


"I was planning to, as this sounds far too great to pass up." As he said that, he returned to his training.


~~~~~~ A Few Hours Later~~~~~~


"Tell me about magic. Is it possible for me to learn it?" 


His question made Erica slightly nervous about what to say.


"I don't truly know?" The blonde said with a sort of confused tone herself.


Eventually, she took a deep breath before starting to explain to him as the way he looked at her somewhat unnerved her. She needs to explain herself to him.


"Listen, Campiones are Godslayers; they slay Gods and take their Authority for themselves. That is their most common use of magic!


I have never heard about any of them learning and using regular spelling work. Magic is no match for Authorities in the first place."


As she explained to him, Raynor simply nodded while crossing his hands.


"I was thinking about learning some stuff for cannon fodder enemies, which we most likely will engage at some point in time." 


Erica just rolled her eyes at him.


"This is why you have me. Your job is killing Heretic Gods while I am the one who takes care of regular nuisance." 


*Sigh*


"Yes, I suppose. So what magic do you use?"


To his question, she was somewhat got baffled; this Campione was nothing like she thought!


The Italian King, which her uncle has to deal with, is a complete scatterbrain who only cares about swords. He is easy and hard at the same time to control. Then there is Voban, who only cares about the prey.


However, this one here wants to know about her to this extent.


"Hermetic arts and Alchemy." She summoned her sword while saying that.


"I use my alchemy to alter my sword. While I use Hermetic arts to move around at an increased speed."


As she mentioned Hermetic Arts twice now, Raynor had a thoughtful look as he put his hand on his chin. For a second, he looked down at the grass.


"Hermetic as in Hermes? Does your magic pull some magic from the Greek God himself?" He asked her curiously.


His question got her slightly thoughtful and confused at the same time.


"...Maybe? It's text-based spellwork. I recite spells I learned as 'disciples of Hermes'…" She said that with a small frown as she didn't understand what is he trying to say.


"I see, so it is related to him. You see, my Authority as King of the Gods overtakes any lesser Authority of the Greek God. Especially Hermes, who is the son of Zeus and a message God." 


Her eyes widened slightly for a bit.


"...And what will… this authority do?" She asked, somewhat curious about how it would overwrite her spell.


"Most likely, you will get access to my God of Skies Authority."


Now her eyes went all the way to her eyebrows.


"Does this mean flying?" 


"Yes, you should be able to fly."


"So, how do we do this?" Now she sounded quite excited about the prospect of flying.


"I need to bless you."


"..."


"..."


"And how does that work?"


"I think… a kiss?" Raynor said that with quite a straight face without even beating around the bush.
