Pokemon SI

Chapter 4

The Tiny Bird Pokemon accelerated into awaiting Nidoran.

The Poison Pin Pokemon followed what Charmander and Pidgey told him.

The Pokemon closed his eyes and called forth the energy of protection.

The green barrier appeared around the Nidoran.

It was far too late for Pidgey to stop. So, it slammed into the barrier.

The flying Pokemon attack was a failure and Ray could only smile at the results!

All of them have learned to Protect! That's why he loves the anime verse of Pokemon! There is no limit to how many moves he can teach his Pokemon!

Once his team had rested for a bit Ray decided to follow what Brock's father had told him and went out towards the North of Pewter City.

He knows that there is that Kingdom of Rota just a few mountains away, which is supposed to have Pokemon from the Lucario evolution line, but they are extremely rare, so rare in fact, that it's easier to get an egg from a breeder than finding a wild one.

So, Ray doesn't even go there until that 'special' tournament is happening, in a couple of years.

The trio of Regi Pokemon are hard to pass by and not try to capture.

As he left the city and was walking towards the mountains he was greeted by some grasslands and rocky areas, indicating that not far from here mountainous area started.

Not long after entering this area, he noticed something grey in the distance.

Ray narrowed his eyes for a second trying to make out what it was.

He even focused more when he saw that it was moving.

'A Pokemon that's for sure…' He instantly changed his destination.

Less than a few moments later he made out at what it was.

'Lucky me! It's a Rhyhorn!' Ray's eyes shined for a second seeing the Ground/Rock-type Pokemon.

He doubts he has the firepower to capture an Onix at this time, while Geodude is not on his radar. So, Rhyhorn fits his criteria!

The ravenhead trainer approached Rhyhorn, he knows quite well this Pokemon.

Instead of approaching from the front which is a sure method of getting charged, he approached from the side.

Ray pulled out his Charmander Pokeball and threw it.

Seconds later his starter manifested in front of him.

"Rhyhorn I challenge you to a battle!"

The Spikes Pokemon turned around and started charging at Ray and Charmander.

That was something Ray was expecting, he knows that Rhyhorn is a very simple-minded Pokemon…

And they love headbutts…

"Quickly dodge to the side Charmander!" As Ray said that, he dodged as well, as he knew the Ground/Rock-type Pokemon wouldn't stop.

Ray started following what his trainer said the fire type didn't want to be headbutted by the Spikes Pokemon.

After quite a casual dodge, Rhyhorn didn't stop, something Ray knew as well, it takes time for the Ground/Rock-type to process that its target dodged his attack.

"Quickly Charmander use your Ember!"

The Lizard Pokemon opened its mouth and released hot embers at the back of Spikes Pokemon.

It was a direct hit but it didn't do much damage.

The Ground/Rock-type Pokemon just shrugged the attack off.

And turned around and started charging at Charmander once more.

"Dodge it again Charmander! We can't allow that to hit us!."

After saying that Ray rolled out of the charging Pokemon path, and his Fire-type did the same.

"Use Ember once more! This time focus the power more and take a deeper breath!"

The Lizard Pokemon listened to his trainer's words took a deeper breath and released much more concentrated fire.

Ray could only smile seeing that, it looked much more like Fire Spin than Ember.

Still, it barely did anything to Rhyhorn as it once more turned around and started charging at them once more…

This whole thing lasted up to five times before Rhyhorn started to slow down.

By this point, Ray's Charmander already learned Fire Spin, it was all thanks to the fact that his Pokemon was in battle, a weird battle, but a battle nonetheless…

"Once more Fire Spin Charmander!" Ray commanded his Pokemon to use the newly learned move on the Ground/Rock-type.

The Lizard Pokemon opened its mouth and a stream of fire rushed into the Spikes Pokemon.

This time the Pokemon collapsed while rushing at Charmander and Ray.

For a few moments, it slid through the grass before stopping a few metres away from the trainer and his Pokemon.

Rhyhorn was out for the count…

"All right! We did it!" Ray cheered for a second, before pulling out a spare Pokeball and throwing it at the downed Pokemon.

The knocked-out Ground/Rock-type was sucked into the Pokeball, the Pokeball itself only wiggled a couple of times before stopping with a 'ding', indicating that the capture was a success.

Ray quickly picked up the Pokeball and pulled out his Pokedex.

He then pointed the camera lens at the ball.

Seconds later he got relevant information on his new capture.

[Rhyhorn]

[Spikes Pokemon]

[Type: Ground/Rock]

[Ability: Rock Head]

[Gender: Male]

[Moves: Horn Attack, Headbutt, Tail Whip, Stomp]

'Rock Head… huh… that means I could teach him some quite dangerous moves without caring about the recoil…'

After thinking for a bit, Ray pocketed the Pokeball and his Pokedex and then looked at his starter.

"Great job Charmander! Now rest, you deserve it!"

The Lizard Pokemon smiled happily before being returned to the Pokeball.

With Ground/Rock Pokemon in the team, Ray can now focus on getting his first Badge!

~~~
After returning to the Pokemon Centre Ray left his starter and new addition to the team to Nurse Joy, while he went to one of the bigger markets to buy something important.
Unlike video games, there is more than one shop in the city, Pewter is far too big for a single general store.
When he entered the shop, his eyes went to a specific section of the store, it held disk-like devices.
Those are the TM's also known as Technical Machines.
There are two types of these in the Pokemon world he is in right now, the one-time TM or a permanent one…
The permanent ones are very expensive ten times the price of regular TM.
Ray decided to buy two permanent ones, TM is very good for introducing a new type of energy to Pokemon.
The best example would be his Rhyhorn who can learn Ice and Electrical type of moves.
To teach that Pokemon any of those moves would be a very tall order for the simple reason of how dumb the Pokemon is!
That's where his evolution Rhydon comes in.
The difference between those two is immense, Rhydon is a beast simple as that.
He is not even mentioning the last stage which is Rhyperior, a Pokemon which has a signature move on its own.
But for now, he is going to need to rely on T.M. to teach some unique moves to his Spikes Pokemon.
'Hmm, we still have Onix to deal with…' As Ray was looking through the technical machines his gaze went to the purple ones.
'Toxic! that will do it!'
Ray grabbed the status ailment move and one of the best ice-type offensive moves, the Ice Beam!
Once he took those he went to the checkout point.
"That would be 20 thousand, kid." Hearing the clerk Ray pulled out his fat wallet and showed the golden card.
The clerk instantly understood that he was dealing with a rich kid, not a rare thing, he got those often in his shop.
A quick credit scan later he got what he wanted.
"Your payment was a success, here are your T.M.'s, kid." The shop owner gave him the two T.M. discs.
Ray took the discs and put them in his backpack, then with a simple goodbye, he left the shop and went back to the Pokemon Centre.
~~~

A quick rest and some food later, Ray got his Pokemon back from Nurse Joy.

The first thing he did was to pull out his two new T.M.

To use T.M. all he had to do was put the Pokeball into the centre of the disc.

First, Ray uses the T.M. to teach Toxic to Pidgey and Nidoran. Then he taught Ice Beam to Rhyhorn with his other T.M.

With this, he increased his chances to win against Brock's Onix.

But first more training…

~~~
After teaching his Pokemon the moves Ray went outside and called forth his team.
With flash four out of his five Pokemon manifested in front of him.
"Horn!!!"
Everyone looked at Rhyhorn, the Spikes Pokemon had an excited look on his face.
"Well, someone is excited, welcome to the team Rhyhorn." Rey chuckled after seeing how excited the Ground/Rock Pokemon was.
The Spikes Pokemon quickly nodded at him, the rest of his Pokemon somewhat got excited too.
"Great! It seems everyone is getting pumped up, so we going to do some serious training!"
After saying that Rey started split up his team into training partners.
Pidgey will face Rhyhorn, the Flying/Normal type will continue to learn Steel Wing while The Spike Pokemon will train his new Ice Beam on the Flyer.
More precisely will train its aim and power by trying to hit it.
While Charmander will train with his Fire Spin on Nidoran, the Poison Pin Pokemon will train its agility and Double Kick on Ray's Starter.
The training started quite awkwardly with Rhyhorn almost starting to run and try to hit Pidgey with its Headbutt.
Ray groaned realising that he had to 'beat out' his Ground/Rock-Type Pokemon's bad habits…
While it was much better with Nidoran and Charmander, not that there were some issues with Nidoran behaviour as the Poison Pin Pokemon was quite brash like Rhyhorn.
It's where Ray had to step in and remind the Pokemon what to do.
By the end of the day, Pidgey picked up the Steel Wing, Why it took so long was the fact that Rhyhorn was using Ice Beam, which is super effective on the flyer, and he knocked out his Flying/Normal Type a couple of times...
All in all his training was a success, Rhyhorn could cast the move much faster and its strength went up.
While his Nidoran's speed picked up and the Double Kick became much stronger, the same with Ray's Charmander which got closer to learning the Flamethrower.
Still, this doesn't mean he will face Brock yet, he needs more weapons to fight against the Rock Snake Pokemon.
Is he overthinking the difficulty? Perhaps… But, better to be overprepared than not prepared at all…
That's why he will teach Charmander the Steel Claw, and if possible try to teach Rhyhorn the Iron Head move.
'Hmm, Iron Head may be a stretch, considering how dumb the Pokemon is until he evolves into Rhydon…'
'Still, there is the possibility of learning the move If I can get my hands on Steel-type T.M…' Ray thought with a small frown as he pulled out his laptop from his backpack and started to search the web if Steel-type T.M's are a thing yet.
He checked the marketplace and he was quite baffled by the prices, even single-use T.M. was over 100k!
'Damn… I will wait for a bit…' His eyebrow twitched for a second and decided to focus on training his Pokemon with the moves they have.
For now, he decided to call it a day.
~~~

Ray trained his Pokemon for another two days when he saw two familiar faces walking towards the Pokemon Centre.

"Ray?"

"Ash? What took you so long? Viridian Forest is not that big…"

Hearing Ray's question Ash's lips twitched for a second, he didn't want to mention that they got lost, and were chased by a swarm of Beedrill, and on top of that he got challenged by some Samurai guy…

"WAIT A SECOND! You are Rey from Pallet Town!!?" The redhead next to Ash nearly screeched when she put two things together.

Ash's Pikachu had to cover his ears, while the guys grimaced from the girl's screech-like 'attack'.

"Last time I checked I think I was…" Rey said with a deadpan look.
