Chapter 7

Ray was holding two new Pokeballs, one of them was shrunken and grey, indicating that it was locked up.

That was because Ray already has reached the limit of the Pokemon he can carry.

Still, even if the Pokeball is locked up, it doesn't mean he can't scan it.

So, he opened his Pokedex and scanned his new captures.

[Onix]

[Rock Snake Pokemon]

[Type: Rock/Ground]

[Ability: Sturdy]

[Gender: Male]

[Moves: Tackle, Bind, Rock Throw, Rage, Headbutt]

'As expected the Pokemon is quite young…' Ray pocketed the locked Pokeball, and checked the other one…

[Onix]

[Type: Rock/Ground]

[Ability: Sturdy]

[Gender: Male]

[Moves: Tackle, Bind, Rock Throw, Double Edge, Headbutt, Screech]

His eyebrow twitched seeing that, turns out he was wrong, this Pokemon was just brash… without the ability to back it up…

He sighed and locked this Pokeball as well. Ray has no intention to use any of these Onixes. Maybe he can trade them with people outside Kanto?

Like getting his hands on Aron or some other Pokemon?

This would same time cause some shock to any opponents in the Indigo Conference. As Ray is a Kanto native, people would expect him to use Kanto native Pokemon, especially since it's his first year as a Pokemon Trainer.

After thinking for a bit, Ray continued to go deeper into the cave system with Nidoran and Charmander.

For the next 30 minutes or so he only saw Dugtrio and Diglett which started to appear. It seems he was quite deep in the cave system, as he could not see any Zubats or Sandshrew anymore…

Still, he eventually found another one of his targets…

*Roar*

Onix looked at Ray's Pokemon. There was little to no hesitation in the Rock Snake Pokemon action as the large Rock/Ground snake dived in, headfirst into the small group.

'That's Head Smash!' Ray's eyes widened when he thought what kind of move was that!

'Damn!' There was not much time left to dodge!

"Charmander quickly use Flamethrower!" He quickly ordered his starter and the Lizard Pokemon seconds later released a torrent of fire at the incoming Rock Snake Pokemon.

"Once it slows down Nidoran use Double Kick to its side!"

The Poison Pin Pokemon nodded and awaited eagerly for the right moment!

The large Stone Snake endured quite easily the fire and sent The Fire Pokemon flying.

Charmander was not done by a long shot as he quickly recovered next moment he was enveloped in a bright light…

Starting to evolve.

The bright light was far too much for the Rock Snake Pokemon as worked like Flash, momentarily blinding it.

That was the moment Nidoran had waited for as the Pokemon rushed in after Ray commanded it.

Delivering Super Effective strike to Onix side.

Making the large Pokemon roar from pain.

Nidoran finally realised that Charmander started to evolve.

Not wanting left behind like that the Poison Pin Pokemon tapped into its inner power and started to glow as well!

Ray could only shake his head from amusement seeing that, he doesn't need to understand Pokemon language to understand what just happened!

It was something similar to: 'Bro, don't leave me behind! I am evolving too then!'

Onix who was reeling in after that Double Kick looked back at Nidoran only to be blinded by the light once more.

"CHARMELEON!" The red Flame Pokemon introduced himself to the world.

"That's awesome Charmeleon! Use Metal Claw on Onix while it's temporarily blinded!"

Ray's starter nodded and rushed in with explosive speed. The Fire-type then jumped when it was close to Onix and unleashed its claws coated in Steel-type energy.

Once again Onix was sent away reeling from the very effective attack.

Ray could only stare with small shock at the raw power of his Charmeleon.

"NIDORINO"

His other Pokemon introduced himself to the world as well, and the next thing it did was dash at Onix with more ferociousness than ever before.

The Poison Pin Pokemon jumped right on Onix's head, who was recoiling back from Charmeleon assault.

'Damn, did he learn to Take Down?' Ray thought with another shock, as he knows to Take Down is not a move Nidorino should learned normally!

"Nidorino! Finish it off with Double Kick!"

The Poison-type quickly nodded, as the Pokemon realised that his Take Down did nothing but annoy the Rock Snake Pokemon.

So, the Poison Pin Pokemon's hind legs glowed with Fighting Type energy and smacked on the recovering Rock/Ground Pokemon head slamming it down to the ground.

Charmeleon took a step forward waiting for Onix to get up…

Only it was not getting up…

Nidorino who was still on top of the Rock Snake Pokemon raised his eyebrow.

Did he knock it out?

Ray could only shake his head from disbelieving, it seems his method of raising Pokemon did its trick… maybe he overdid?

His Pokemon are turning into monsters…

Still, he quickly got out of his thoughts pulled out an empty Pokeball and threw it at knocked out Onix.

Quick capture later he pulled out his Pokedex and scanned the Rock Snake Pokemon.

[Gender: Male]

[Moves: Tackle, Bind, Rock Throw, Headbutt, Head Smash]

'Heh, so it has fewer moves than the other two, but Head Smash is an insane move to be used by such massive Pokemon.'

Ray shook his head remembering Pokemon like Rampardos and Cranidos who are famous for their headbutts, they are even called Head Butt Pokemon…

Still, he finally caught what he came here for.

"Well, guys we got what we wanted let's go back to Pokemon Centre to get some food."

Both of his Pokemon cheered hearing Ray mentioning food.

Ray, handed over the Pokemon to Nurse Joy, he did a quick scan on his evolved Pokemon before that.

[Moves: Scratch, Growl, Ember, Fire Punch, Protect, Fire Spin, Metal Claw, Flamethrower]

'Hmm, Charmeleon didn't learn anything upon evolution, but its power exploded…'

Ray then checked his Nidorino.

[Moves: Tackle, Leer, Peck, Double Kick, Protect, Toxic, Take Down]

'Well, I should able to teach him some more Poison-based moves…'

For a second Ray thought about the moves then he remembered one scary move called Venoshock.

But, first food!

While Ray's Pokemon are resting he got some food from the cantina.

After that, he went up to prepare some food for his Pokemon.

Once he was done with that he opened his laptop went over to Global Trading System and logged in with his Trainer Account.

He instantly spotted his three Onixes and put two for trading, he then left a note that he wanted to trade for first-stage Pokemon and he preferred Pokemon like Aron, Trapinch…

Ray knows quite well, that no one will trade rarer Pokemon for an Onix, but he knows that people are far more willing to trade an Aron or Trapinch…

Especially Trapinch…

Raising it to Vibrava is a challenge many don't want to do, same with Magicarp, but Ray knows how powerful Flygon is.

Not at realms of Pseudo Legendary, but it's right there. Not only that but the Pokemon is rare… very rare…

The best part is that he has a high chance for trade to happen. First is his reputation, and second, everyone wants a Steel Type Pokemon right now, since Ray released his information on the Steel Type.

Like all the new Gym Leaders who officially become Steel types instead of Rock Types.

After doing all the stuff, Ray feels slightly rested he went over and collected his Pokemon from Nursey Joy…

Then…

"Oh, man I am starving!" Ray heard the voice of his excited neighbour.

He looked at Ash who rushed into Cantina with his Pikachu, he was followed by sighing Misty.

Ray just shook his head and went outside to feed his Pokemon.

Once he was in a large clearing he called out all of his Pokemon except Magicarp. Since there is no water anywhere in this vicinity, he does plan to start training his Fish Pokemon once he is back on the road to Cerulean City.

With flash five Pokemon manifested in front of him. One of them was quite massive around 8 metres tall, towering over some of the buildings in the vicinity.

Onix opened its eyes and realized that he was outside, the Rock Snake Pokemon internally sighed and realised that he was caught.

The Rock/Ground Pokemon looked at his trainer which was quite small compared to him…

Other Pokemon looked at Onix with interest, especially Pidgey who wants another shot to take massive Rock Snake down…

While simple-minded Rhyhorn smiled at the new teammate.

"Welcome to the team Onix. My name is Ray, and I am Junior Professor as well as Pokemon trainer, so you should not worry because I know what I am doing, which means I know how to evolve you into Steelix as well," Ray said the last line with somewhat smug voice, there was immediate reaction from his new Rock/Ground type.

Now, Onix was more than willing to listen to his new trainer.

Ray could only smile seeing how quickly the Pokemon started listening to him, many Pokemon want to evolve and get stronger, that natural thing for them after all.

Well, some weirdos don't want to evolve… but those usually end up with Ash… so, he is clear with that…

After feeding his Pokemon… Well, after both Pidgey and Rhyhorn stopped gaping at Nidorino and Charmeleon, and quickly started eating their food, since they all know food means more energy, more energy means more training, more training means evolution which means more power.

Once everyone was done with their food Ray returned them to their Pokeballs and he decided to call it a day…

He still needs to transfer those two Onixes to Professor Oak.

As he was walking to the Pokemon Centre he met face to face with Ash and Misty.

"Ray? You still in Pewter?" The orange-haired girl asked with a small shock.

"Yep, got an Onix of my own, leaving City tomorrow morning." The Pellet native said casually.

"Oh, this is great! I just finished my training with Pikachu! Wanna battle!?" Ash asked excitedly.

Misty once again sighed at the very enthusiastic Ketchum.

"Are you sure?" Ray asked with a raised eyebrow.

And the fellow Pallet Native quickly nodded at him, Misty only sighed once more and muttered something under her breath.

"Well, if you sure." Ray sighed this time and motioned for the pair to follow him.

"Let's make it 3 vs 3, and Ash… I won't be holding back." Ray warned his neighbour.

"I wouldn't want it another way!" The ten-year-old said with a confident voice.

"If you say so." Ray took his Rhyhorn Pokeball, he saw Ash pull out a Pokeball as well, and then the Pallet native threw it.

"I choose you Butterfree!"

With a flash, a Bug/Flying-type manifested in front of the ten-year-old.

"Well, then…" Ray threw his Pokeball and the Spikes Pokemon appeared in front of him.

Ash's eyes widened he got giddy seeing a new Pokemon and pulled out his Pokedex.

[Rhyhorn, the Spikes Pokémon. It's covered in tough armour, giving its Tackle attack an extraordinarily destructive power.]

"Since you got your day's lecture Ash why don't we start this?" Ray said with a joking voice.

His neighbour slightly frowned at the jab and pocketed his Pokedex.

"Yeah! Let's do this Butterfree! Use Stun Spore!"

The Butterfly Pokemon started to fly towards Rhyhorn who just waited for his trainer's command.

"Use Ice Beam." Ray casually commanded his Spikes Pokemon.

The Ground/Rock type opened his mouth an icy blue orb formed and a beam was unleashed at Bug/Flying-type.

Misty eyes widened seeing what kind of attack was used.

"Quickly Butterfree dodge that!" Ash ordered with a panicked voice.

Still, it was too late as the beam hit one of the wings making the dodge impossible, Rhyhorn moved his head and froze the rest of the Butterfly Pokemon, knocking it out...
