Bi-monthly bases?
Added 2022-01-22 21:47:08 +0000 UTCHello everyone!
I've mentioned things in the discord server, but my mental and physical health are not doing well, I'm having some issues IRL, and feel burnt out on drawing, especially bases. I really need a break :,3
I'm heavily considering pausing my Patreon next month, but before I take that decision I was wondering....how would you feel about bases going from monthly to every other month? (so one month there'll be new bases, the next there won't be, then again a month with bases and so on)
I'll be honest: as I said in the New year's update, I'm super grateful for the support I'm receiving ever since I started making bases as monthly rewards ---you're th reason I can afford to pay my bills, and for that I'll always be extremely grateful!
But at the same time, it's feeling like a chore, it makes me feel constantly burnt out, and I feel like my art is not only stagnating, but even getting worse because I draw more bases than actual art nowadays...
I don't want to completely quit making bases, not just because of the money but because I genuinely like bases and support base artists (I'm the first to wish some YCHs could be multislot/turned into bases because I have too many OCs I'd like to see in them, how can I pick only one? x,D And I love seeing what creative stuff people can do with my art, it makes me so happy knowing I can be of help! ♥), so I think that alternating bases with other content would be the best way to go!
However, it's something a bit tricky to approach, so I would really appreciate your input! If I were to simply keep things as they are now, just switching from monthly bases to bi-monthly, I feel like it would be unfair to patrons who stick with me every month, people could just unpledge when there are no bases and sub again the next month just to get the new bases...the only ways I came up with to make it work are these:
(1)
---I get rid of $5 and $15 tiers, and instead make only one tier for base rewards, at $10
---I make a set of bases meant to cover two months (ie. March and April) ; these bases will be valued for a total of at least €25/$28, so that by pledging two months you're paying $20 and getting your money's worth!
---Bases will be manually PM'd by me to you here in Patreon IF you are a qualifying patron (pledged for two months); that way, you also have a backup link if you can't download right away or lose the base, instead of the current expired link system!
---If a patron pays only for a month and unpledges, they will NOT be getting the base, but the month they did pay will count towards the next base (ie. a patron pledges in March but not in April, they will NOT get the March/April reward set, but if they pledge again for example in July, they will get the July/August set since it counts as two months)
(2)
---Just as above, current two base tiers will be merged into one $10 tier
---I will alternate making a base/bases set a month and outfit/lingerie rewards the next; however, since unlike above you'll be getting something every month, bases will be simpler/less (ie. 2 bases instead of a set of 5, or an adopt base with 50 extras instead of 100+), but still worth your money (like a €12/$14+ value), same for the outfit/lingerie designs! (so for example in March you'll get a set with 2 fullbody bases, and in April you'll get 1-3 outfits, depending on complexity).
I feel like method 2 would be more viable since I wouldn't have to keep track of who's paying for two months and who not, plus I would have to work on smaller bases and focus on something different for a change the other months (I always loved designing stuff!), but I'm not sure if enough people would be interested in only outfits as rewards :,3
I can even consider doing one month a ych-base, the next an adopt-base, and the next month the outfits so that's it 2 months of bases and 1 of designs? Or if you like only bases, make one month a base and the next month an add-on pack for it?
Or you wouldn't be happy with change and I should keep things as they are (with the occasional paused month to avoid completely burning out)?
Again, this would be a big change so I really, really would appreciate your input and suggestions here! My priority is making rewards that make you happy and your pledge worthwhile, so I would never just go with something you're unhappy with! ;w;
Thank you so much for reading, and even more if you take some time to leave your thoughts, I'm super grateful for everything ♥
Hope you're all doing well, love you! ♥♥♥

I agree with the others, maybe instead of a whole new base we would get add-ons of existing bases which would make it a lot easier than having to draw out an entirely new base and would give you more creativity in themed outfits, accessories and items for bases you've already made ^^ Hope this helps!

2022-01-31 15:55:25 +0000 UTCI also absolutely love option 2 as I always love getting more outfits ^^ It seems like a great way to still offer bases but also allow you to do something else also.

2022-01-29 03:30:40 +0000 UTCOption 2 works for me! I like the idea of the 2 months of bases and 1 of outfits, or the bases and then add-ons is a cool idea two! Maybe merge the ideas? I'm totally down for outfits and the like being rewards!

2022-01-25 09:39:43 +0000 UTCI honestly like the idea of "make one month a base and the next month an add-on pack for it". You could also hold polls maybe for add-ons people would like to see?

2022-01-25 03:31:43 +0000 UTCI'd be happy with either option but I think 2 sounds the best in terms of not having to keep note of keeping track on who's paying for two months :') That situation sounds a bit messy and would probably not help towards your health in the long run (though that could just be me @v@;; ) Whatever you chose to do though Desi, you have my full support! I love all the bases you do, whether they're adopt bases, or more geared towards ychs/outfits and I hope whatever choice you move forward with contributes to better health ;v;)9

2022-01-23 08:15:15 +0000 UTCOption 2 sounds like the best option to me! <3 I know exactly how you feel with the burnout, and I hope switching this over will help with that!

2022-01-23 07:38:34 +0000 UTCI am not a huge fan of change however I understand where you are coming from with the burnout. I feel doing a base and having some parts to it then doing a expansion would be great and help you relax and not be to over worked making 100+ parts all at once maybe splitting it up to 25 parts on releqse and then doing 50 parts or so on the add on. and I'd actually be interested in seeing you do something like that for ych style bases too not just adopt ones even if the add on is super small for the ych style like hairs simple ears and tails for basic species like cats dogs foxes and wolves humans and elves. This would also be more beneficial to people who are not as great at drawing or editing stuff to make it work. Another idea is to do a simple pack every few months with add ons for any base like back views maw views feet and hand close ups or interests since I know quite a few people like this type of thing to add to refs and designs to make them more worth wile/ give character to the designs. Hope my opinions are helpful :3 but ultimately it's your call.

2022-01-23 04:59:30 +0000 UTCI rather like the idea of doing add-ons for other bases between doing your normal YCH/bases every other time. Make that your easy month where you do some add-ons for a previous base, then next month you do a YCH, then next is more add-ons for another base, and then the next month be a new base? Then switch out a month of add-ons for any outfits you design? Just my two cents :P

2022-01-23 00:03:44 +0000 UTCI think option 2 sounds the simplest for everyone and it includes variety as well.

2022-01-22 23:07:02 +0000 UTCI prefer option 2 though it will need to be broadcasted so everyone can switch over. I like the idea of alternating the 3 options so each month folks can decide if they want it or not. I always do.

2022-01-22 22:45:20 +0000 UTCI don't mind option 2. I prefer the bases as opposed to outfits (unless the outfit can be used as a ych outfit). So I like the sounds of one month being a base, the next being an add on.

2022-01-22 22:40:51 +0000 UTCI personally don't mind either way however from what you've said option 2 sounds easier for you and considering everything I'd rather option 2 if that truly is the easier option for your needs.

2022-01-22 22:29:29 +0000 UTCI personally like Version 1 more, especially because I tend to forget that I have to download the base in time and then basically got nothing for a month uvu and I don't plan to un-support you any time soon so it wouldn't really be an issue to get something every second month :)

2022-01-22 22:06:56 +0000 UTCOption 2 sounds good to me! (although I do would love to see some add-ons to your bases ngl) <3

2022-01-22 22:04:11 +0000 UTCBurn out is no joke, if you need to change then definitely change! I feel option 2 will be easier for you in the long run, less fiddly. I really like the thought of alternating base/add-ons by month, but honestly I'd even be fine if you choose to skip months completely. I think my only concern is that combining 5 and 15 tiers might hurt those who can only manage 5 with their current situations, but I don't know if anyone actually has that issue.

2022-01-22 22:03:29 +0000 UTCOption 2 sounds good to me! it'd be less work for you and we still get your amazing art and resources. Best of luck, and take breaks as you need them!

2022-01-22 21:55:59 +0000 UTCHonestly, I would be happy with either of these changes! As long as you're being sure to take care of yourself <3

2022-01-22 21:54:48 +0000 UTCOption two sounds easiest for you but I also would absolutely die for some add ons to your bases!!! Especially clothes girl 😭 So doing like just outfit adopt bases or add ons on months you feel low might be better than huge bases!
