Golden Ascension- Ship Girls Prologue

Space cracked high above the atmosphere of a planet. An armoured body was spat out from this space crack at extreme velocity.

It flew right into the planet below, catching on fire and turning into a meteorite.

With ferocious force, it smashed into one of the small islands in a string of islands in the Pacific Ocean.

As the dust settled down, there was an armoured body in the middle of a large crater, the crater was almost the size of the whole island.

Though the impact was large and it should have killed a normal person, the armoured individual was not that simple.

When Marcus opened his eyes his HUD was full of Error messages.

He mentally dismissed them and slowly got up on his feet.

"Legion what are the Atmosphere readings of this place?"

[Scanning, wait for a moment.]

[Gathering Data]

A few moments later a window with composition appeared on the HUD.

"This is…"

[This Composition matches 95.4% of Earth's before your leave, sir.]

"Bulshit… you telling me that I was flung right back at Earth? That's like trying to hit a needle with a hair on the other side of a room!"

Marcus frowned when he saw the reading. He was pissed that he was back on Earth of all places!

[True, the chance is below 0.001%. However, before Blackhawk was hit by the Supernova we were travelling on Hyperion Bridge. We haven't tested that specific Technomancy performance when it's exposed to a Supernova. The sheer energy force would warp space further or shatter.]

The armoured man slowly nodded. His M.A.I was right. His answer to interstellar travel is warping of space several times over and then accelerating through that warped space almost like sliding on a gravity bridge.

The bridge structure would shatter upon the force of a Supernova. Especially when the Supernova is from a star such as Betelgeuse.

That thing was massive in sheer size.

"..."

For now, Marcus decided to drop the subject of what happened to him. Instead, he walked out of the crater and looked around.

He was on some small island, the climate was warm enough.

"Nothing else in the air?"

[Detected Nuclear radiation not far from this location.]

The armoured man groaned upon hearing that.

"Of course there is. How can humans be without nukes? So primitive."

[The radiation is quite old, more than 50 years old according to how much has settled down.]

"Point me in that direction."

Marcus turned towards that location and used his helmet zoom-in function to check out.

As he was looking around his eyes eventually ended up on something sticking out from the water.

[Scanning…]

[It appears it's a wreckage of a steel ship. I suggest a closer look, it could reveal to us where we have ended up.]

"Yeah, I will be cleaning up that radiation as well." He said with a frown. As he said that he activated anti-gravity runes and floated to that side at extreme speed.

Second, he was above the wreckage.

Eventually, Marcus was looking at a black-and-white picture of a warship.

'It's a world war 2 German warship Prinz Eugen… a spoil of war thing taken by Americans, two nukes were dropped on this ship after world war 2 as a test. It capsized and sank in this location In the year 1946…'

'Fuck…I am back on earth…this is freaking ridiculous.'

[Sir, some data doesn't match.]

"Hmm? What doesn't match?"

[The decomposition of the ship. This ship should be sunk for close to 300 years, it is roughly estimated, but it should not be in such condition after that long.]

Marcus' eyes widened. His M.A.I. Is right… he was in space for more than 150 years combined with over a hundred years of his original lifespan on the planet's surface…

'I am in the past?'

Thinking for a while he floated over to the island and sat down, leaning against a tree, and started to think while looking at the sticking-out propellers of the ship.

The first thing he thought was… did the power from the Supernova mixed with his Hyperion Bridge effect lead to him breaking Quantum Mechanics and smashing into the past?

If this is true then he was not on his Earth. It could be a parallel world.

"Scan the air, is there any magic?"

[Scanning]

[Gathering Data]

[Nothing sir…there is no magic in the air whatsoever,  there might be some deep in the earth, maybe some ley lines exist.]

He frowned for a bit before starting to write with his armoured finger on the sand.

He drew a circle and then several runes inside of the circle and then outside of it.

Then he channelled some of his mana into the circle.

A shock wave of energy washed the whole area. Erasing whatever radiation there was left in the area.

After doing this he started to refill the energy reserves of his Armour by channelling his mana. It's going to take a while. Not that he has anything else to do.

As he was doing that he just relaxed and looked at the view in front of him.

It has been a while since he saw the islands and seas. The first thing which comes to mind is the aquatic world.

But it didn't have islands. It was pure water, a lot of water.

After thinking about his trips he was wondering what to do next. Honestly, he is quite reluctant to just go back to space.

He needs some changes. He needs enough power to fight off something like Supernova or a random black hole.

Bigger ship? That's definitely a must.

But a bigger ship means personnel. He won't be adding just anything.

He mentally opened his databases and checked his files.

Skimming through he found folders on biology, souls, and homunculus, as well as tier 3 life creation.

Thinking for a bit. He decided that he will do it, and that's what he does best.

He will make subordinates.

After deciding on that, his left hand went to his left hip. The suit section opened up. He pulled out a thin case made from hyper-compressed metal.

With a hiss, it opened up. There was a selection of seeds and blood samples.

Unlike other people, when Marcus Goldman crash lands somewhere his emergency rations are not food or some emergency communication devices. He has seeds and blood samples of animals.

Because when he does crash land he would build up a base, or even a city before he leaves. Even if it's an inhospitable planet.

So, his survival mentality is quite different.

"Time to get to work."

It was enough resting and the armour energy levels were sitting comfortably above 60%. While he was not space worthy as the suit was not properly sealed off he was more than capable of flight in the atmosphere.

~~~~~~Later~~~~~~
Marcus' first objective was to build a base. Since he was in the middle of nowhere Pacific, with thin islands all over the place he decided to dig into the ground.
He very rarely builds on the surface. As an Alchemist he works best with ground.
So he decided on the spot where the entrance was going to be. It was in the middle of the thin line of trees that grow on this island.
He is pretty sure this place will sink underwater in the coming decades of how polluting humans are.
Not that he is planning to stay here for that long.
First was the stairs, he used Alchemy to change sand into alchemist clay. It's the material he found and developed in space for mass usage. It works wonders with Hyper compression technomancy.
It becomes possible to play Minecraft in real life with this technomancy.
Once the stairs were done he expanded by making a room. He decided to make a resting and living room here.
He quickly made a table, a couch, and a few stairs. He then proceeded to get another room which will be his bathroom and shower.
Thankfully he was on an island. So water is not an issue he will even get some salt from this as well.
After carving the basic room he went over to the other side and carved another room that will be his food-producing room.
Then he went back to carve a flight of stairs and made another room underneath his living room.
In a single afternoon, he already had the basics done. So the next morning he went to work once more.
This time he went to take a swim.
He dived into the water and started to look for a large stone.
Sadly he didn't find what he was wanting. Large stones could only be found in the Northern Hemisphere where thick ice was on the ground.
So he didn't find what he wanted. This means he will need to start this from scratch.
Thankfully there is a lot of sand in the sea so he used gravity to gather and compress.
Until he had a respectable size stone.
When he was done that he left the water, thankfully his suit didn't get flooded with water because he kept it away with his gravity magic.
His magic reactor allows him to work long hours like this. Studying souls was the best thing he ever did. Even better is biology. Well… a similar level.
Since he can use biology with alchemy to make food. Wasteful, but it's a good alternative until he can start growing food.
Once he had his stone he went to the floor below his living room and started to work with the runes and reactor making.
This is where he spends several days. His armour helped him immensely. Work which would take weeks has been reduced to just a few days.
When he finished with his Triple Core Reactor. It's a perpetual motion reactor that copies the planet's interior. He spends years developing this design. Starting from liquid mercury. Eventually stumbling on gravity waves. Which he harnessed eventually mastering and making it his own.
There are three layers to this reactor: the core which emits an absurd amount of heat is absorbed and altered into mana; the second layer creates gravity which empowers the structural integrity. And the last layer created a field that protects from harmful waves. It's perfect for space, or he can rewire it to make barriers for ships, battleships, and things like that. His Blackhawk had it before it blew up in gory fashion from the supernova.
After finishing with the room he proceeded to lay down the cables.
This took another few days.
Before he started the reactor he created six pools of water.
These are storage units for Liquid Mana.
He is going to need a lot of energy so he is not holding back with it.
When he finished all the preparations he used his suit HUD to kick-start the reactor.
Slowly the pitch-black ball started to spin. The interior of the ball started to heat up and turn dark red.
A wave of gravity washed him over as the gravity protection layer kicked in and reinforced the room.
Slowly the light kicked in throughout the newly built complex.
"We have power now to get food and computers up."
He said that to himself with a frown.
The Alchemist was pissed at the loss of his Blackbird. His collectibles, his car collection, his suit collection, and his extended databases as well.
Well, he still has some of his data. He even mentally can recall some of the things in the worst-case scenario.
~~~~~~Later~~~~~~

Marcus' computer technology went through several upgrades over his life. His latest upgrade involved extremely conductive metal which allowed rapid exchange of information.

Now that he has to rebuild from scratch he decided to program in three dimensions. As he is using runes to do that.

This will allow his M.A.I to be even more useful.

So, without wasting time he proceeded to work on it. With alchemy, he could get whatever materials he wanted. And he was in the middle of nowhere. He had sand and water. Two of the resources are everywhere.

The new database will be directly next to the reactor for maximum power

He is going for another black box style made from hyper-compressed metal. He is quite satisfied with its durability. Still not good enough against Supernova. But those are rare.

As Grandmaster of Alchemy, he made sure to compress the atoms to the highest possible level. Though it can survive nukes easily it can't tank extreme forms of gravity fluctuation. Not many things can tank that.

After finishing with the black box of the Database he proceeded with cables and then started to work on his computer.

As weird as it is…he prefers the computer first running before food.

His computer is nothing like humans make as he made it from technomancy. Rapid exchange of information. Even his suit rapidly processes huge amounts of data.

When he took weather measurements, it was for the whole area, when he scanned the wreckage it took readings at atomic level.

And that was done by build-in a computer in human-size armour. It doesn't even have the best specs that one would have when aboard a ship or a base.

Thankfully the hardest part of the OS was not needed to be done as he has Legion.

Otherwise, he would have truly flipped and just started going nuts.

Once he was done with the computer he removed his armour and connected the cables.

"Begin the updates, Legion."

[Understood, sir.]

Marcus kept his rapid-casting gloves and walked to the room where he will have his food grown.

The seeds he has are genetically engineered. They grow fast and are extremely durable. To make sure this doesn't spill out of control they only grow under specific solar waves.

In other words, they only grow in specific harvest labs.

Marcus could quickly. This was not the first time he built a base on the planet's surface; before this he built 12 bases in total.

One of the first he built was on Titan. One of Saturn's moons.

Oh, he did explore Europa as well. Though he wonders if it's any different this time around.

After making a basic setup for the growth lab he went back and proceeded to work on fixing his suit.

At that time he had built a workshop as well.

A stand for the armour and some basic robotics.

~~~~~~Few Weeks Later~~~~~~
With the base fully built, Marcus was spinning in his office chair and thinking about what to do next.
He already decided to have homunculus support this way he will have a large ship. Having a larger development area will be helpful as well.
He could use that to work on larger gravity models.
'May as well study stars and their connection to the Hyperion Bridge effect.'
As he was thinking he looked at his computer screen which was the capsized Heavy Cruiser Prinz Eugen.
The reason for the ship as his cover is because it symbolises his deepest low just like the ship.
Though… as he already recovered.
But did the ship recover?
For a second his eyes widened. He stroked his chin and leaned into the chair fully.
"...I see…"
"This could work…"
"Legion, start a new project. Name it Rebirth."
[As you wish]
"Can your sensors pick up the shipwreck?"
[Yes, easily, the ship is just outside the base.]
"Good then show me the wreckage and then cross-reference with our databases."
[One moment.]
The next second he saw two images that fused into one. He could see which parts were missing. The damage was done by the rust and two nukes.
"...Not as bad for a properly sunken ship."
[The ship is in not that bad shape as the water pressure is not that heavy in the coastal areas]
"Good. Then I will rebuild it."
[May, I ask why?]
Marcus snorted.
"Think of this as a holiday, or me fixing my withdrawal symptoms after losing Blackhawk."
[Understood. I assume this ship will have state-of-the-art technology?]
"You know me well. Might as well install a Gravitas Fluctus as the main weapon on that ship just to feel the satisfaction of having a proper 'Heavy Cruiser'."
[I don't think it's wise to have a weapon of Mass Destruction installed in a simple warship.]
"It's not simple. It's MY ship."
[True…]
After thinking more on this he proceeded to plan.
He needs drydocks so he will build them under Prinz Eugen.
For that, he used the ship length as a measuring tool, to make the drydocks. After the maths was done he proceeded to expand his base.
Carving a tunnel under the ship and then proceeding to expand it into the area for drydocks.
This was extra fun for him because he needed to add anti-gravity devices. With a fully fixed Sky Wolf suit Marcus swiftly built the Drydocks.
It was as if he was playing Minecraft in Creating Mode with a ton of Mods.
With a simple hand wave, he turned close to a hundred metres of sand into alchemist clay which hardened and became the ceiling.
Which was quickly repurposed into entry gates.
After all, he doesn't want anyone to see his base.
Once the last gravity device was installed Marcus gave the word.
"Legion lit it up!"
With a simple word, the drydock lights lit up.
It was a long and wide cavern.
"Open the ceiling and activate the gravity controls!"
Anti-gravity turned on around the ceiling as it started to open up.
The capsized ship started to sink into the drydocks and the anti-gravity caught it up.
"Start pouring in the water!"
A portion of water started to fill in with the capsized ship.
Water will be good as material for alchemy! The ship will be rebuilt by the very same water which has rusted it away!
