“...Ugh, it can wait. First apples!” I looked away from the antilope corpse and towards the apple trees behind me.
But then I recalled that I had one! I swiftly checked my pocket, pulled out a yellowish-green apple, and took a bite.
A grimace erupted on my face before it morphed into disbelief.
‘Bittersweet?’
I was surprised by the strangeness of this fruit. It was bitter at first, but then it morphed into sweet. And then I simply can’t stop eating it!
Like some sort of spell!
However, a… strange feeling washed over me as the first apple content reached my stomach.
It was like something heavy arrived in my gut!
Fullness washed me over; it was like I had gone through the whole meal in a single bite.
“...What the…” I looked at the apple in my hand. It was surreal. This fruit was magical… in a most extreme sense.
“Haah…shit…” Other bites of the fruit arrived in my gut, and I felt like exploding.
With wobbly feet, I walked over to the tree trunk and leaned against it, eventually sliding down to sit against it.
“...a little break won’t hurt anyone,” I murmured as I looked at my handiwork before me.
My eyes ended up on the severed portion of the head. The horns…
“Ohh…”
I got an idea!
Those horns can be used like knives! I could use them to make ropes and to start a fire.
But then again, I could just cut anything I wanted with my cut ability.
Still, a tool is a tool. Could I concentrate the ‘cut’ ability on a singular thing?
A bunch of ideas started to pop up as I had my short break.
After a while, I finally got up, walked over to the head, and picked it up.
The first thing that happened was the brain matter dropping out.
“Eww, gross!” I took a step back but then controlled myself and looked at the horns. They were huge. I could make swords out of those if I wanted to!
“Ohh, I could make a sword and two knives!” I said with a small smile, as this was not a bad idea!
At that moment, I closed my eyes and used ‘cut’ to cut off the horns from the head.
The next second, there was a loud smack as the portion of the head dropped to the ground, and I was holding the pair of horns.
“...Ew, I think some of that stuff ended up on my trousers.” I forgot that I was only holding on to the horns.
The other parts were gross. I swiftly checked myself to see if there was any blood or brain matter on me.
Still, I got what I wanted from this. My gaze returned to the corpse itself as I walked over and left the pair of horns on the carcass. Then, I focused on putting together the cart.
Since I had the parts already cut, all that is left is to put them together.
First was the part that holds the wheels together. I placed one on, then added a large nail-like object to keep it in place. Then, I walked over to the other side and did the same with the other wheel.
After that was the cart’s bed; it had similar ‘nails’ that got into the wheel-holding piece. Then, I would pull that stick.
This one was tricky, but I recalled how doors are made: two pieces slide into each other, and small wooden nails slide in to hold them together.
“...Shit, I could be a carpenter!” I inspected the cart bed. While I used my ‘cut’ to make this happen, it was still nice to see these parts come together like this!
Lastly, the railing got into the cart’s bed to keep contents from slipping off.
“...Sweet!” I exclaimed happily after finishing with the cart. After a quick check, I realised it was better than expected. The surface was smooth, thanks to incredible cutting ability.
‘But even the assembly was impre—’
I stopped for a second as I realised that the way I made the cart was like an expert!
‘Holy, does this power allow me to ‘master’ all forms of things!?’
It was not just the ‘cut’ but the ‘assembly’ of things as well!? After realising this, I needed to test it out!
“...But it can wait. I need to get this back to my construction place,” I mumbled to myself as I looked at the corpse of the antilope.
I walked over to it and used my ‘cut’ to slice it up into several pieces before taking the legs first.
As I pulled the leg, I realised it was not as heavy as I initially thought. It was not hard to move—first one leg, then the second, third, and lastly, the fourth one.
By that point, the cart was full, and if not for the ‘magic’ of this world, it could have collapsed. I am pretty sure wood is not THAT durable.
‘Well, whatever, at least I should be able to move it, right?’
I walked to the front, grabbed the horizontal wooden pole attached to the cart, and tried to pull it.
“...”
“...”
“...”
“Well, it is possible…” I sounded surprised and relieved. I was able to move this chunk of meat!
A few minutes later, I was back next to my log house construction site. To my knowledge, nothing had been touched. All the planks are there…
Not that anyone would touch my wood in the first place…
After looking around, I brought a bunch of branches into one place and piled them together to create a place to keep the meat for a while, As I don’t have a proper place yet.
Once I removed the antilope legs, I returned to collect the remaining animal’s body.
One more trip later, I was back next to the apple trees.
“Well, If I have a big enough place, I could have this entire orchid inside my farm.” I pondered on what to do with the trees before me. In the end, I decided to collect as many as possible before returning to my farm.
Knowing animals, they will want these fruits, especially something like birds or bears… or other omnivores.
Since it was an Antilope, like a deer, they eat fruits, so maybe this world follows some of the stuff from my old world.
But that is too early to confirm. I only saw one big animal and a bunch of familiar birds.
With a goal in mind, I went up to the closest apple tree and started plucking apples from the branches.
Before I realised, the sun started to set down, and I had a full cart of apples.
When I realised that, I looked a little bit shocked.
From my endurance to focus, I spend a lot of time doing this!
“This has to be this weird world,” I complained briefly before pulling the cart back to my log house.
I looked around and realised that I had no place to rest.
“In that case, I need to improvise.”
I walked to the building site itself and placed my hand down. I imagined the dirt flattened out for the house foundation before I began laying down the flooring. This should have been an improvisation, but I was rapidly getting better at his!
Before I even realised the floor, the walls and a makeshift roof were done.
“...”
Instead of commenting on the absurd speed at which I was working, I went to the side of the wooden house and created a simple campfire. I rolled over some of the tree blocks from the first tree I cut down, and I will use them for seating.
With that done, I began working on fire.
The first is to get two sticks, followed by a bit of tree bark. With that done, I prepared some firewood. Sadly, I don’t have proper dry wood, so I will have to use what I have.
Once I had enough of that, I went to work on actual fire.
One stick rubs into another to cause friction.
…
…
…
“Well, this is a bust…” I complained about the lack of progress, but as time went on, I got better at this. It's just that the fire doesn’t start!
“It's definitely this weird wood!” I frowned at what I saw. I could barely see my fingers, and it was dark!
“Let’s get back to the imagination! Gimme that spark, damn it!”
I got snappy, since being in a forest with no light, especially in the isekai damn forest with truck-sized animals, is not cool!
I imagined a combustion effect, like two rocks slamming into each other and other things, like two things rubbing each other to cause heat.
At that moment, I could feel something flipping inside of me, surging from my gut to my hands and then into the wood.
Sparks flew and created an illumination.
“Ohhh…” I stopped the motion and looked at what had just happened.
I realised that I had just become an actual lighter. With the simple snap of my fingers, I caused more sparks!
I tried several more times until the bark started to burn, and soon enough, I had a legitimate fire,
A grin emerged on my lips as I swiftly grabbed the stick and brought it over to the prepared campfire.
I watched slowly as the fire spread from the stick to the prepared firewood. It wasn’t burning as well as I intended, but I had some grass prepared so it could continue to burn until it spread to the wood.
As I waited for proper flames, I pondered what to do next. If I don’t, I will most likely start panicking at the absurdity of my life.
It's better to be occupied with something instead of just randomly thinking about the circumstances.
That is why, as the fire was heating up, I prepared campfires around my house to give myself a bit of visible area.
By the time those were done, the main campfire was burning brightly, and I could spread it out to the other four.
I prepared these campfires at the corners to ‘create’ a square that could ‘mark’ my area.
It gives considerable illumination, and I am certain that my vision got better all of a sudden.
Still, it was better to have a fire. It should keep wild animals away.
With the fire done, I started working on the meat I had brought over.
I used my ‘cut’ to remove leather from the antelope's legs and body. The fur was exquisite even now, like that of some royal animal.
Brown with yellow tiger-like stripes, it was soft and ready to be worn the way it was.
‘Could I turn it into leather clothes? Like in those RPG games?’
For a second, I pondered before looking at the horns.
‘But first, I should make those knives.’
After grabbing the first one, I inspected it from different angles. The horns had this surreal aura around them, which gave me the feeling that these horns were one of a kind you won’t see often.
The pressure of that ferocious deer-like animal was still there in the background.
It was similar to my axe, which I believe I have refined somehow.
Regardless, after inspecting it, I closed my eyes and imagined how I wanted these horns to be cut.
Seconds later, I felt that the content of my hands was much lighter.
As I opened my eyes, I saw a pair of double-edged blades ready to be used. The only part missing is the handles. They can be inserted, as I left those parts out at the bottom of the blades. Once the wood I carved out was carved out, I would only need to insert the blades into the prepared handles.
‘I would need glue or something, maybe some rope to hold them together?’
I pondered for a moment as I could feel how the short blades I have have ‘evolved’. The sharpness they radiate is intense, and it raises hairs!
