Pokemon Si c22
Added 2025-01-03 21:47:29 +0000 UTCSince his Pokemon needed their rest, Ray used that time to check what he could do in S.S Anne.
Everything about the ship is available online. All he needed to do was check their website.
While the company had several cruise liners, its pride and joy was the S.S. Anne. So, the stuff available on the ship was highlighted for him on their
‘A T.M store, with the lowest price than in any region. I can assume it's cheap because they are not paying taxes.’
The Junior Professor was checking the T.M.s available in the ship’s store.
‘Sunny Day… huh… could it impact the storm?’
Ray wondered if he could spam those when the ship was in danger. He could technically save the ship that way…
But then again…
‘I do need Surf. That way, I could redirect the waves or lower them.’
He pondered the possibilities of saving the ship, from water types to Sunny Day. Well, he does need to make sure Team Rocket doesn’t board the ship, too.
The best solution is to deal with those two who let the rest in.
For that, he will use his Haunter. His moves, like Hypnosis, will do the trick.
‘Let’s see…’
The Pallet Native opened another tab and went to Vermillion City General Store to check the T.Ms there.
Like always… the prices are tailored to the place. For example, the cost of ground-type moves is double, while water types are dirt cheap, which is completely the opposite of what he saw in Cerulean.
And this is good. Ray immediately ordered several of them.
He got Surf, Whirlpool, Hydro Pump, and Rain Dance, and then he went for cheaper ones available at a discount: Sunny Day and Dream Eater.
That makes six moves, and he only spends 48 thousand. He considers this dirt cheap! He nearly spent all of his earnings from the Gym fight, but this was alright, as he didn’t touch his actual savings.
‘Well, this is well spent. Combos with Rain Dance and Sunny Day are classics.’
Ray recalled his good old days while playing Platinum. Sunny Day and Solar Beam were his go-to moves with his Torterra.
Oh, and he used to have Luxray and Charge Beam.
‘Does Charge Beam even a thing in this part of the world?’
He pondered for a second as he checked the store.
His eyebrows twitched when he saw electric-type T.M. prices.
‘Why? Just way? Is this some sort of joke?’
But then he realised that this could be a great rip-off plan! People come to Vermillion to buy Electric-type moves! Because of the Gym type!
‘Whatever… I will check in Saffron or Celadon cities. Electric moves should be cheaper there.’
Ray stroked his chin before checking other stuff… like the Pokemon eggs.
He wondered what kind of stuff he could get. He was very surprised to see that the S.S. Anne sails around the world and only stops at Vermilion City once a year. That is crazy!
‘Did Surge give me a ticket to a tour around the world!?’
He quickly checked the ticket, and to his surprise, it was!
‘Holy shit! I can’t do this now! I have a league to win!’
The Junior Professor scratched the back of his head. Well, he will leave once he deals with Team Rocket.
To make sure he checked the sailing routes.
‘Oh, Sevii Islands, I can disembark there and get a ferry back to Vermillion City.’
Ray smirked for a second; Sevii islands are known for rare Pokemon AND Legendaries, which tend to roost there!
Like Lugia and Ho-Oh, he might get some pictures!
All of a sudden, this trip doesn’t sound so bad after all!
‘But for now, I need to train and prepare.’
The Junior Professor wanted to get back to training. He was motivated, but he only had two Pokemon ready for action; his other four were resting.
‘Fine, then I can have my Charizard and Nidoking spar.’
With a plan in mind, he left the Pokemon Centre and went to find a place big enough for his Pokemon to spar.
~~~~~~Later, Same Day~~~~~~
After finishing his daily training, the Junior Professor returned to the Pokemon Centre.
The first thing he did was to hand over his Pokeballs to the Nurse, as his Nidoking and Charizard ended up beating each other up.
As he was about to get dinner, he saw familiar faces in the cafeteria.
“Hmm? You guys still here?” Ray asked the duo of Ash's companions.
“We should be asking you if you already have the badge,” Brock replied with a smile.
“Training and the rest of my Pokemon are resting.” Ray walked over and sat down next to the table. It appears his neighbour was busy somewhere.
“And where is Ash?”
The pair looked at each other. They seemed somewhat disheartened.
“He is with his Pikachu. He got beaten up pretty badly.” Brock explained what Ray was expecting all along.
“Let me guess, he fought Surge’s Raichu?”
The pair stiffly nodded.
“Thought as much. A fully evolved Pokemon always has an edge when it comes to raw power.” Ray crossed his hand while explaining to them.
“However, Surge evolved his Pikachu far too early. His Raichu never had that crucial time to develop its speed.” The Pallet Native explained to the pair.
There were looks of realisation in the ex-Pewter City Gym Leader.
At that moment, Brock stood up and went somewhere.
“...Well, let’s see if Ash used this opportunity.” Ray casually commented as he saw Brock rush out of the cafeteria.
“It depends if Surge doesn’t change his line-up for that gym battle.” Misty sighed as she looked at leaving Brock before she looked at Ray. She finally got her moment alone with her idol!
The girl excitedly clapped her hands.
“Can you give me some tips to raise my Water Pokemon?” She asked him with a nearly pleading tone.
Ray had some sweat on his forehead after seeing her react like that.
“Umm…”
“...Please!” She clapped her hands. She looked like an abandoned Growlithe.
“...Ugh… sure…”
~~~
Ray sighed as he collapsed into his bed. He looked at the ceiling of his room for a second. He felt drained after answering all the stuff she wanted to know!
‘Some of the stuff is so fundamental, why she is struggling with that?’
At some point, the Junior Professor realised that people in this world lack some fundamental understanding of animal behaviour.
‘I do suppose Animal Husbandry never became mainstream thanks to Pokeballs.’
He realised that at some point at Professor Oak’s ranch, the old man was struggling to understand Pokemon's Instinctual behaviour patterns, like breeding, fighting, or territorial urges.
Understanding this fact makes many things clear. But he is distressed; he has no time to explain everything.
‘Maybe to my future girlfriend, I will explain in detail. But for now, I am far too busy.’
As he complained to himself, he checked his forum posts.
Like always, his inbox is full of notifications and emails.
[Ray got his third badge! And he had a six vs six fight!]
‘Ugh…’
Ray realised that Misty’s sisters just posted his whole fight online!
‘Damn those bimbos!’
Out of nowhere, he has fangirls too!
‘Wait… I had those before, right?’
The Junior Professor thought to himself, but then he saw that one of the commentators was Elesa…
He checked the clock and realised it was around 10 in the morning in her region.
[Whoa! The way Pawniard redirected those Electric attacks!]
The future model of Unova commented with a bunch of emoji.
Sure enough, people from different regions asked her about the Pokemon Ray was using, and it was the same with his Vibrava.
It was something strange to see him a bunch of people from different regions talk on his forum.
‘...Wait…’
He went over and checked other forums.
‘...Are these guys serious?’ He realised that people usually stick to their regions.’
Now he wonders if he accelerated the process of region integration, which he recalled happening in later Pokemon animes.
‘Well, whatever…’
Instead of joining the chat, he checked his inbox for DMs.
It was full of messages from Elesa. All of them are five to ten minutes old.
‘Someone has no patience.’
His eye rolled before replying.
She was asking about his electric redirection method. As an Electric trainer, she needs to know how to overcome this method.
Honestly, it was not difficult as it only worked a couple of times, and it's mostly possible with a Pokemon that knows Steel moves or is a Steel type.
Just like his Pawniard, his Sharp Blade Pokemon could only do it a couple of times before it was overwhelmed by its sheer power.
She quickly replied to his message, and it seemed she was quite excited for some reason.
[You are collecting badges for the Indigo Plateau Conference, right?]
Out of nowhere, she asked that.
For a second, he looked curious before replying to her.
[Yep, it is happening… close to 7 months from now.]
He didn’t count the days as it's still far away.
[Great! I booked tickets and a hotel. I will see you there wink]
“...”
For a second, Ray’s brain stopped as he needed to reread the message.
“Damn…”
He then saw her write some more. It appears Skyla is coming with her. The pair of them will watch him compete in the tournament.
‘Well, this is something else.’
Of course, Ray hasn’t realized it yet, but Elesa is feeling territorial, seeing the number of fans he has. The Sensational Sisters made her more courageous.
It will take a while for him to realise the amount of influence he has.
Still, he was thankful he would be able to see Elesa before he met her in Unova, and that was years away!
So he quickly replied to her message before asking how she was doing.
Funny enough, instead of replying about herself, she replied about how her Pokemon were doing.
~~~~~~Next Day~~~~~~
Ray descended from the upper floors to the main lobby. He quickly went to pick up his Pokemon.
“Ray, your package has arrived, and your Pokemon are ready for pickup.” Nurse Joy gave him a tray with six Pokeballs and a package with his name on it.
“Thanks, Nurse Joy.” The Junior Professor thanked the nurse and then took his pokeballs and the box.
He walked away to find a seat and check the content. There were six discs: four blue ones, one red one, and one purple one.
‘Now that I have these, I can begin my water training exercises.’
Ray smiled. He can finally use his diving gear, too!
With a plan of action in place, he walked over to call the Professor. He needed his Water Pokemon.
He sends over most of his team: Nidoking, Vibrava, Rhyhorn, Onix, and Pawniard.
And got in turn: Gyarados, Milotic, Poliwhirl, Dratini, Chansey.
[Ray, my boy, it appears your fight against Surge is going viral; other Professors have contacted me with a bunch of questions.] The old man from Pallet commented with a tired voice.
“Honestly… those girls…” The Junior Professor complained.
[I know gym leaders can check and watch the recordings for future reference and look for their future successors, but this is pure abuse of power.]
“So they just downloaded and uploaded in public?”
[Indeed, it appears you have quite a fanbase, and gym leaders themselves are following you.]
Ray simply eye-rolled. Yeah right!
‘You forgot to mention region Champions and actual Professors!’
[Regardless, just be careful not to get squashed by your fans; people finally saw your face.]
The Junior Professor’s eyes widened in horror.
‘Damn!!!’
His eyes darted to the side and around. Thankfully, no one was looking at him!
The Pallet Native swiftly pocketed his Pokeballs and ended the call.
He needs stuff to do!
Ray swiftly walked towards his room. As he was walking through the lobby, he could hear some people speaking.
“Did you hear Cerulean City Gym Leaders posted a video of Ray fighting St Surge? And it was a proper 6 on 6 fight!”
When he heard that, he stiffed like a Deerling caught in a car's headlights.
“Can you believe it? Is he training Pokemon from different regions? I have problems raising Kanto Natives, but he is raising Pokemon from Hoenn and Unova!”
As the trainers were talking, Ray slipped past them, walked to the stairs, and quickly got up to his Professor suite.
In the room, he grabbed his backpack and started to pull out stuff.
He pulled out his swimming gear, the suit, goggles, and a small breathing mask.
The Junior Professor quickly changed his clothes and rearranged his backpack.
Once all the preparations were done, he quickly left the room and descended to the lobby.
This time around, there were more people, and he could see more eager girls talking about ‘Milotic’.
‘Damn… they are here for that!’
He quickly passed them, and it appeared they hadn’t stopped someone who was ready to dive!
Good to know!
‘I hope they will go to Saffron or Celadon to look for me there!’
Once he was clear, Ray walked to the harbour.
His eyes ended up on S.S Anne. The ship was a massive cruiseliner! A literal city on water. Honestly, he does want to sail with one of these properly! One day!
After the initial shock was over, the Junior Professor walked to the white-dressed sailor, acting as security for passengers and the reception.
“Sir, when does Anne set sail?” He asked the man before him.
“Hmm?”
Ray showed his ticket to make sure the man knew that it was not a random question.
“Oh, my apologies, we will be staying in the harbour for a week.”
The man slightly bowed to the trainer once he realised that Ray was part of the trip.
‘A week? That’s not bad.’
He realised he could train his Water types for sea travel, but why a week?
‘Ashy-boy plot armour?’
Honestly, he can believe that. Some Pokemon diety gave Ashy-boy a week to deal with the Surge.
‘But he didn’t train that long before…’
Ray realised that he might have made Surge stronger after their last fight.
Just like with Sensational Sisters, this is causing more trouble for Ash. Well, at least this time, he is fighting for the badge and not getting it for free.
‘Hell, I hope he learns and becomes a proper trainer who could challenge me later.’
The Junior Professor can only be hopeful of that.
After learning that he had a week, Ray took a deep breath and relaxed a bit. Then he walked towards the end of the harbour and the edge of the city.
Soon enough, he ended up on a sandy beach. He walked over further, away from prying eyes.
Once, he found a spot where he could make a make-shift camp for training.
He got a foldable chair and a simple foldable table on where he placed his backpack.
Then he started to pull out his T.Ms case, which was oddly similar to CD/DVD cases from his previous life. He could store a bunch of these disc-like items in this one.
The Junior Professor ended up on his new Water-type moves.
He began with Surf and Whirlpool for his three Water types.
But then he pondered on one of the Pokemon he got as well.
His Dratini is a Dragon type. He should learn Water moves, too!
With that in mind, he pulled out his Dratini’s Pokeball and began to test it out.
Surf.. check!
Whirlpool…nope
Hydro Pump…check!
And Rain Dance… yep!
So, there are three new moves for his Kanto Pseudo-Legendary Line.
‘Not bad. Now, we need to get some fire and electric moves.’ For a second, he pondered. Well, he can get more aboard the ship, as now he needs to focus on swimming.
After teaching Dratini, it was time for Gyarados, Milotic and Poliwhirl.
All of them can learn the Water moves he bought; only Milotic and Poliwhirl already know the Hydro Pump.
With teaching done, he threw his Pokeballs and his Pokemon, one after another, manifested around him.
“Tini!” The small Dragon Pokemon swiftly coiled around Ray’s leg.
“Good to see you too, Dratini.” Ray smiled, seeing his first Pseudo Legendary.
He could see that he had grown in size quite a bit. His gaze then went to Gyarados and Milotic, his two serpentine water types. They looked at Charizard with surprise.
“Poli?” The Tadpole Pokemon questioned the Flame Pokemon.
The Water-type was quite surprised that Charmeleon evolved and now is this big guy!
“...Char.” The Fire Starter nonchalantly replied with a shrug.
As the Water types are catching up with Ray’s Starter, the Junior Professor checked his Dratini. He was surprised to see how rapidly it was developing!
It has only been… a week, tops? Maybe ten days, but the growth was insane!
If this were the case, then the training session he is planning for this little guy would yield absurd results!
“Alright! I require everyone’s attention.” Ray motioned for his Pokemon to focus on him.
“This week, you guys will have some serious training in the water.” The Junior Professor motioned towards his three water types.
“I have taught you a couple of new moves.”
The three nodded at him, and so did Dratini, who was still wrapped around his trainer’s leg.
“The training will happen in the water.” Ray motioned towards the Sea.
“One of you will cast the Whirlpool, and the other two will need to resist it and not get taken down. You three will rotate: One will do the whirlpool, and the other two will be swimming against the current, rinse and repeat.”
After explaining that, he looked at his Starter and Dratini.
“And we three will be focusing on Dratini.”
Everyone nodded at him, but not all understood the finer details. That is why it was time for Ray to finally use his Charizard as a mount!
~~~
“Alright! Gyarados use Whirlpool! Make sure you settle at the bottom of the sea and stabilise the rotation of the water!”
As Ray explained the kinks of this training, he was riding on Charizard’s back, right above the sea. Below him were his three Pokemon.
With his command, the Atrocious Pokemon used the move, and the water began to spin around like a real whirlpool.
“You two need to resist the water as long as possible. You need to swim against the current! That is your training!” With the explanation done, Poliwhirl and Milotic began to try to resist the move.
But the current’s speed only just kept on getting stronger. This was training for Gyarados, too. The water type channelled his energy to make water spin like this. It takes effort, after all!
As the trio were training, Ray returned to the beach where Chansey and Dratini were waiting for him.
“Right now, we will begin our training, Dratini and Charizard.” He looked at Chansey as he said that.
“While you, Chansey, will watch the camp and, when needed, heal the tired Pokemon.”
The group's healer nodded at his instructions.
“Great, now let’s focus on learning the basic Dragon-type move, Dragon Rage.”
Ray said to his Dragon Pokemon. The serpentine Pokemon nodded happily at him. It can finally train alongside the main group, and he was super excited about that!
“Right, so I want you to focus and try channelling your energy in your mouth and then releasing at Charizard over there.” The Junior Professor pointed at his Flame Pokemon.
“To pressure him, Charizard, you will be using Ember.”
The Fire/Flying type slowly nodded at the instructions as he was just standing there with crossed arms.
This was far too easy for the Junior Professor’s Starter.
As the blue dragon tried to do… something, Charizard, seeing that nothing was happening, opened his mouth. A few orange flames escaped from his mouth and rushed towards the surprised-looking Dragon type!
Instead of dodging, the Pokemon simply stared at the incoming attack.
After a small explosion, Dratini rolled away with swirls in his eyes.
“...char?”
“Don’t worry, Chansey. Can you heal him?” Ray asked with a sign.
The group’s healer walked over and used her healing moves. Soon enough, the Pokemon was back up.
“Dratini, you need to dodge when you see Charizard attacking you. You need to answer back when you can as well.” The Junior Professor explained before motioning to continue.
This time around, the Dragon type was much more alert; that knockdown taught him to be cautious.
Still, no blue and green flames came from him.
But this was fine. It will come naturally.
After waiting a bit, Charizard once again used his flames. This time, Dratini jumped to the side, and sparks of blue and green appeared on his lips.
Ray smirked, seeing that the pressure of a battle was doing wonders.
He motioned to his Starter to pressure more. With a nod, the Flame Pokemon used more Embers, and the Dragon Pokemon needed to jump around to dodge more and more before he couldn’t take it and finally released a burst of flames at Charizard, who smirked at the incoming attack.
“And just like that, you learned Dragon Rage.” The Junior Professor smiled at this outcome.
“Good. Now that you learned, we will put it to the test," the Pallet Native commented.
“Dratini use Dragon Rage to answer back to Charizard’s Ember.”
The Dragon type nodded and once again unleashed his attack. Charizard did the same.
Sure enough, both attacks cancelled each other, but they attacked each other again the next moment.
Ray was poking dragon pride with this as Dratini was trying harder and harder to deal the damage to Charizar,d who was looking at the dragon like it was a baby.
After several more tries, Dratini was knocked out again, and Chansey needed to heal him again.
Each time this happened, the Dragon Pokemon would come back stronger, faster and more determined.
The effect is the most noticeable after a night's rest, as the next day, the Dragon Pokemon sheds its skin and grows longer.
The pressure of a fight was dealing wonders, and the next day, Dratini had already learned Dragonbreath.
And by the evening, Charizard needed to start dodging as well.
Ray was surprised by his Pokemon development speed. His Dragon was running, not walking! Such a speed of development was absurd!
Then again, he was basically making him fight, fight, fight.
By this point, Charizard no longer looked bored, either, as he switched to Flamethrower.
And it was quite a fire show. Ray needed to step back because it was far too hot for him.
The next day, Dratini could already tank Charizard’s attacks, and the Dragon type got even longer and stronger.
Well, not just Dratini, as his Water types were rapidly growing in strength as well. The whirlpool method was working and doing wonders, not just for those who were using it but also for those who needed to resist the water flow.
Milotic, Poliwhirl, and Gyarados have become more muscular, and their control over water has improved considerably.
The utilisation of the Water-type moves became much faster after Ray observed his Pokemon in a fight. From what Ray saw, he can now evolve Poliwhirl into Poliwrath. The Tadpole Pokemon was in perfect condition for that evolution.
So after the second day’s training was done, Ray offered his Pokemon the Water Stone.
“What do you think? Ready for evolution?” Ray showed his Pokemon the blue stone.
Poliwhirl looked at the stone. He swiftly grabbed it without hesitation.
The moment there was contact, a blinding white light consumed the Tadpole Pokemon. The stone merged with the Pokemon, and it began to grow in size.
Ray needed to cover his face with his hand as the light was intense. No matter how many times he sees this, he can’t get enough of Pokemon Evolutions.
Especially when the Pokemon reaches its final stage.
“POLIWRATH!”
The newly evolved Poliwrath exclaimed while flexing his muscular hands. The Pokemon was darker blue and looked much more defined now. His easy-going aura was gone, and he looked more focused.
‘Most likely the trait of part fighting type.’
Ray pondered to himself as he realised that this was his first fighting type!
Well, he had a chance to capture Mankey when he was hunting for that Nidoran way back then, but he is quite picky when it comes to his Pokemon, after all.
“Not bad at all.” The Junior Professor pulled out his Pokedex and did a scan.
[Poliwrath]
[Tadpole Pokemon]
[Type: Water/Fighting]
[Ability: Water Absorb]
[Gender: Male]
[Moves: Water Gun, Double Slap, Bubblebeam, Pound, Hypnosis, Mud-Slap, Ice Beam, Water Pulse, Hydro Pump, Surf, Whirlpool, Rain Dance, Seismic Toss]
‘Oh my… Seismic Toss, I do need to teach this to my Charizard.’
Ray realised that his Poliwrath knew what he considers Charizard’s signature move.
‘To be perfectly honest, in anime, they showed this to be more like a Pile Driver than Seismic Toss.’
“Poli! Poli!” The newly evolved Poliwrath motioned at Charizard.
“Oh? You want a rematch?”
The Tadpole Pokemon nodded at Ray’s words.
“Fine by me, it’s time to see the results of our training.” Ray agreed as he looked at his Charizard.
The Flame Pokemon seriously nodded as he looked like he was ready for that fight.
It was time for that fight once Chansey fully restored all of the Pokemon.
“Alright! Let’s see how strong is your Hydro Pump, Poliwrath!” The Junior Professor swiftly instructed his Water/Fighting type while quickly looking at his Fire/Flying type.
“And you use Flamethrower!”
The pair nodded and used their moves.
However, to Ray’s surprise, Poliwrath’s Hydro Pump easily overpowered Flamethrower and slammed into Charizard.
The Flame Pokemon skid several meters back and snapped angrily from such an attack.
‘Not only was it instantaneous, but the attack easily overpowered my Charizard’s Flamethrower!
While Hydro Pump is a stronger move, it shouldn’t be this easy!’
“CHAR!!!”
Ray swiftly snapped out of his thoughts as he saw his Starter getting angry.
“Charizard! Control your anger! You can’t let it interfere with your fighting!” The Junior Professor, in a super serious voice, made his Pokemon calm down immediately.
“Channel that anger through your flames and make them power your moves instead of clouding your mind.”
The Flame Pokemon roared in agreement as the flames on his tail flickered more and… compressed and got deeper orange.
‘Interesting…’
When Ray saw this, he remembered that he could increase his Charizard’s power potency through fire-intensity training. Fire Energy can be trained to absurd degrees; he recalled that it can turn deep red or even blue.
That kind of stuff depends on the temperature of the flames.
‘Some mental training? I need to get my hands on Psychic Pokemon to delve deeper into that stuff.’
After pondering for a bit, his Pokemon were ready for more clashes.
“Alright! One more time, Flamethrower and Hydro Pump!”
Once more, the pair of attacks smashed into each other, and Charizard lost again. But this time, it was not a brutal one-sided overpowering.
Instead, there was a struggle for a couple of fractions of a second.
“Char!”
The Flame Pokemon didn’t easily give up as his whole body glowed red.
Blaze was activated, and his Fire moves became stronger.
“One more time, Poliwrath.”
The Tadpole Pokemon nodded and used Hydro Pump, while Fire/Flying roared and used Overheat this time around.
“Hmm…”
The pair of attacks crashed, and from the looks of it, they were about equal before exploding in an impressive blast.
‘I still wonder how it doesn’t end up in a simple steam cloud.’
While he questioned the physics of the world, what mind-boggled Ray is that his new training method for Water types was a huge success.
In just a few days, his Poliwrath surpassed his Starter in the raw power category.
‘Still, there should be a plateau at the Pokemon end where growth slows down.’ Ray pondered as he motioned for his Pokemon to begin a proper spar.
Not that it would last long, as Poliwrath’s type advantage caused the fight to last only a few exchanges.
With a thud, Charizard collapsed on the ground with swirls in his eyes.
“Not bad, for now, it's enough, Poliwraith,” Ray recalled his Starter.
‘It appears we are getting back to the drawing board. I thought your power was considerable, but all it took to surpass it was evolution and a new training method.
“Take some rest as well. We will return tomorrow for more training.”
The Junior Professor recalled Poliwraith as well. After him, his other Water types, alongside his Dragon Pokemon, were recalled, and lastly, his Chansey was recalled. With Pokemon back in their Pokeballs, Ray collected his backpack. It was time to return to the Pokemon Centre.
‘Still, I have four days of this type of training.’ Ray realised that he would be able to prepare for the cruise. By then, his Pokemon will be powerful enough to save the ship.
‘Hopefully.’
