Just like he had expected, the meat was like a rubber. Out of that desperation, Ren created a bone knife with his alchemy skill.

With a knife in hand, he cut the meat into smaller pieces and ate it with less difficulty.

After finishing some of the meat, he made a torch and went to the cave to prepare it for sleeping.

A makeshift bed made from the wolf pelts was the only solution to this situation. Thankfully, alchemy assisted him in this.

The pelts were clean and ready to be used as cushioning for his nap.

Not that he is pleased to sleep without some sort of security.

Well, he quickly got an idea to make more fire around his cave and make some traps with the remaining bones.

Midway through this, his alchemy levelled up a little more!

‘I am close to that level ten. Let’s see if I can reach it!’

With traps set, alchemy’s level reached 8, and with only two more levels left, Ren decided to do something with the smaller bones.

He used the big ones to make traps around his cave, but the smaller bones were not used, so he decided to use them…

‘Maybe… knives?’

Ren pondered for a bit before he took a bone the size of his hand and used alchemy skill.

‘The MP regen is not bad. If I continue to use this much mana, I will run out.

What will even happen when it reaches zero?’

Regardless, the MP usage was small when it came to making such small changes.

Moments later, he got a white knife. The shape is a little bit bent, but such a shape is good for throwing.

‘Oh ho… throwing knives with thunder? Now, that is not a bad choice.’

After getting one, Ren decided to make more throwing knives.

Ren felt a surge of energy from the very depths of his being surge and spread through his whole body, empowering him.

“...Oh…not bad!”

It surprised him as he had never felt this before when he had experienced any previous level-ups!

Especially for a skill…

With a quick mental command, the skill window popped before him.

“Dang… turns out this whole alchemy thing is broken too...”

Ren whistled after rereading the buffs over again. Pillage is not the only one that is great.

With alchemy, he could stay in one place and make incredible stuff without level grinding. At first, he thought this skill was great for support, but it turns out it can go mainstream—as a primary skill!

‘Something to think about after I pillage all the skills.’

After shelving the idea for the future, he summoned his Status Window and checked his stats.

Ren skimmed through the list, realising something.

‘The previous stat boosts didn’t improve; instead, the latest boost was added upon skill level up.

I suppose this is to balance out the world I live in.’

The teen was pondering on the quirks of the abilities. It turns out there has been no revision for previous boosts.

But still, this is good. Now he needs to level up his Lightning Magic.

‘Back to grinding tomorrow.’

After checking the stats, Ren summoned the cauldron he had read about in the skill window.

The new thing he unlocked for reaching Lv10 of Alchemy.

With a burst of light, a big black cauldron manifested before him. It looked like something a witch from cartoons would use.

It's a big black thing made from some strange metal… totally something from 60’s cartoons…

“Hmm…”

Ren had a feeling about how to use it, like an instinctual urge. He grabbed some of the wolf meat and threw one of the small mana crystals he had.

The cauldron glowed for a second, and what floated out was 4 meatballs…

As the meatballs floated into his hand, a notification popped up before him.

“...Hoh, so that's how it works!”

Ren stroked his chin as he realised this was a great skill! He could just throw all of his garbage into the cauldron, and it would create something interesting.

“Marvelous.”

Now that he had an idea, he quickly tested some more.

He found some bones and more meat, and he threw those two in with another one of the crystals he had.

The cauldron glowed once again, and more meatballs floated out.

Just like before, these were meatballs, but their colour was lighter.

“And the effect?”

[Effects: Restores 20 MP every 3 seconds for 15 seconds]

“Huh… interesting.”

Ren stroked his chin as he got a general idea down. As far as he could recall from his Otaku lore, Bones… like in Minecraft—can accelerate the growth of stuff.

If that is true, then bones are a good component.

‘Maybe the blood of a potent magical beast could do the trick.’

The teen realised that there were countless combinations possible. He only needs raw materials.

“Well, whatever. I can test it out after killing some more stuff.” He popped one meatball into his mouth as the cauldron was dismissed.

“Mhn, not bad at all, doesn’t taste like rubber anymore!”

The teen exclaimed with surprise. He didn’t expect such a shift in taste!

On top of that, he will get MP restored! Totally not wasted!

~~~~~~Next Morning~~~~~~

Yawn

As Ren left the cave, he yawned loudly. He nearly stepped on a sharp bone midway. It would be embarrassing if he tripped the traps he had made beforehand.

Turns out he had slept well, and there were no wild monsters who tried to enter his cave.

As he looked around, he felt thirsty. Thankfully, there was a stream not far from his location.

After collecting the furs, he wrapped them into a bundle and turned them into a makeshift backpack before getting his knives and bone-short sword.

With everything set, he began his trip to get some water.

‘I should turn some of the leather into that flask for drinking water.’

Midway, he stopped and summoned the cauldron. He then undid his bundle and threw one of the leather pieces into the cauldron.

…

“Nothing? Hah?”

With an eye roll, he pulled the leather out.

Turns out it's not that easy!

“I guess the cauldron is only for food.”

The teen sighed in disappointment as he dismissed the cauldron and continued to walk towards the river.

Around ten minutes later, he arrived at the stream. He quickly crouched down and took a mouthful of water before washing his face.

“Damn, that’s the stuff!” He exclaimed happily before looking around.

His eyes eventually ended up on the water. He could see fish in the water.

“...”

Without wasting time, his hand went into the water, and static electricity spread through the water.

Seconds later, the fish began to surface. They were upside down, dead.

Ren quickly collected them from the stream and prepared to make a campfire.

It was time for breakfast!

First, a couple of stones from the water stream were added to the campfire, followed by branches and leaves. Minutes later, the fire was burning, and the fish was placed on sticks above the burning flames.

With everything set, the teen relaxed as he watched the roasted food.

“...”

Minutes into cooking, as the smell began to spread, he heard bushes being ruthled.

“Hmm?”

Ren looked at the source, slowly stood up, and narrowed his eyes. His hands went to his recently made throwing knives.

“Kekeke?”

A group of green midgets walked out from the bushes. Ren’s eyes widened for a second.

‘More goblins, but these look different!’

He quickly noticed their clothes. They were wearing leather armour, a cheap-looking armour but still armour, and most importantly, they had weapons.

Wooden clubs with sharp stones.

These guys were warriors…

“Ke?”

Ren didn’t waste time. Before the goblins did anything, he had already thrown his knives with lightning magic.

The first one to suffer was the leading goblin. As the knife slammed into its body, the goblin screamed in pain, making the other three dash towards Ren with anger.

But this is where he unleashed lightning at the incoming monsters, followed by throwing more knives.

The static slowed them down, and the closer distance allowed him to target vitals more easily.

One by one, the armoured goblins dropped to the ground. They were bleeding but not dead, not that Ren cared; he wanted to deal with them as soon as possible.

The first ones to die were the corner ones, as they were the closest.

Ren used them as kicking practice. Being midgets makes them lighter and easier to deliver football-style kicks, and with their improved Strength stat, he made them fly.

He left only the two at the back and approached them after kicking the other two.

The first one received a spartan kick to the face, making the struggling goblin drop on its ass some distance away. Ren used this opportunity to jump on the monster’s face.

Making it deform under the pressure of the weight, dying on the spot. Leaving only one goblin remaining, the very same one that received the first knife.

By this point, the goblin was shaking in fear as he looked at how this human dealt with his buddies.

“What? You haven’t seen efficiency before?” Ren noticed the fear on the goblin’s face.

Regardless, what followed next was a swiping kick to the green midget’s face. Upon contact, there was the sound of a neck crack.

The goblin ended up dying on the spot.

A small smile appeared on the teen’s face as he was feeling excited about fighting again!

First thing in the morning, no less!

“Phew!”

As the fight ended, notifications appeared before him.

He quickly pointed his hand at one.

The teen smiled, finally getting a boost for movement.

He was about to accept the Club Skill, but then he recalled that this was an Lv 11 monster; his other skills could be at a higher lvl.

So he went back and checked Rapid Growth.

“Hmm… and the other one.” Ren's eyes rolled at how the skills worked. He wanted to see Rapid Growth upgraded, and he wondered what kind of new effect he would get at level 10!

But sadly, it was not so.

“Of course, what else could have a high level? These are Goblins, after all!
