The pair of girls are meeting other representatives of other classes who will be going with them.
“Oh, you mean Raynor.”
“Yeah… the girls are jealous how you are hogging him all to yourself.”
Amber frowned at hearing that. ‘Girls are jealous?’ She thought, why would she care?
It's a free-for-all. They all chase him, and the brown-haired girl moves first to get him.
“I don’t remember we had some sort of agreement to take turns or compete in some way.” The girl replied as she was feeling territorial.
“I see. So you do like him.”
“And he likes me,” Amber said with an assured tone.
“...Oh?”
“Yes, he would look at me at random times; he does that often and through years, " she explained in an almost bragging tone.
Such an answer made the black-haired, glasses-wearing fellow representative somewhat annoyed.
What she heard was something she never heard before.
“...”
They didn’t have time to speak more as the representatives from other classes arrived.
A pair of girls arrived from Class 9A, a boy and girl from Class 9C, and Silvia and Amber represented Class 9D.
The girl leading 9A is blonde, not too tall or short, and has well-developed assets. Her ‘second-in-command’ was shorter and had light brown hair with several freckles on her cheeks.
Amber and Silvia are aware of the blonde girl because her marks are the best of the year.
This is their ninth year, and there are four classes: A, B, C, and D.
The B class is not around for this meeting because they are planning a trip of their own.
Something they will regret, no doubt that they learn that they are going to the seaside to spend time in a four-star hotel.
They don’t know much about the C class. They don’t truly interact, as they both constantly move around the school to different classes.
Their interaction is minimal; not everyone wants to get outside their circle.
The teachers are aware of this, so they try to mix classes together for the trips.
“Well, any news?” The only guy in this meeting asked the girls from the D class.
“We will be staying in a four-star hotel, which was fully booked for us.”
“...Wow… how much will that cost!?” The frickles girl next to the blonde asked with disbelief.
“One of our classmates is quite wealthy; he rented it out for us,” Silvia replied, as she didn’t want more details to spread.
“Oh! Right! Raynor is your classmate! My dad is working in his sawmill company.” The girl quite proudly said that. Honestly, she is happy that her dad works there. He earns more now than ever before.
Not only that, but at his company, they entice people to advance and get better qualifications.
As Raynor has plans for them.
“...I see…” The pair of girls from Class D slowly nodded. Now, that was something they didn’t see it coming.
But then they recalled that Raynor’s place created work for 200 people.
“...Yep, so it’s great that he is doing that. Pity I am not in his class.” The girl said that with dreamy eyes.
The pair of girls from D class ignored her, feeling that they didn’t need more competition.
“Anyway, we need to confirm who is going, and we have 20 empty spots in the hotel since he booked all of it. Some of the adults can come. However, we still need to address the issue of the bus.”
“Since he got the hotel, I am sure he can get a bigger bus.” The only guy in the room almost complained out loud.
‘Is he jealous?’ The gathered girls thought at the same time.
“I am pretty sure we can deal with this on our own. He has already spent more than 20 thousand euros on the hotel. It's embarrassing if we have to ask him again.” Amber replied with a frown. She feels pathetic if they can’t do something about the bus hire!
“...She is right.” The blonde girl named Daniela agreed. She was surprised to hear how much it cost. After spending that much, she wants to do her part; otherwise, it would feel like she is munching for free without helping even a tiny bit.
“Yep! I will speak with Dad. He knows a couple of bus drivers. They should have some contacts.” The other girl from class A said with a small smile.
“Good, then it settled.”
~~~~~~Later~~~~~~
Over a month has passed since Raynor rented out the whole hotel for the trip.
Not much has happened over that time.
Raynor continued to build up capital for his land development and dairy company. At the same time, he continued trading stock and investing in savings at high interest rates.
While that was his lifestyle, there were a bunch of anomalies rising up as well.
One of them is Amber. He couldn’t put his finger on it, but it became weird.
She is becoming territorial. If not for Elenor, his relief stress, he might have pushed his class representative down.
The same could be said about Elenor, who was trying to change the current status quo.
In other words, he could maintain his new style of life for a while.
But the school trip is about to begin. Things can change.
~~~
Raynor, alongside his class, stood just outside the school grounds where the road leads to the highway.
Everyone was waiting for the bus, which should be arriving in a few minutes.
He could see that everyone was quite pumped up, but he didn’t care about that as he was holding a book in his hands.
The book was for a driver's license, and he is learning all the stuff needed to pass theory.
“You are going to study the whole time?” Amber asked him as she arrived a few minutes ago.
“Yeah. We will be on the road for around four hours. There is not much to do, " he explained to her without even looking.
“I see.” She walked over and stood next to him.
This has been happening since she visited his place over a month ago.
No matter the class… she will be next to him.
Honestly, it’s just cute how she acts like the border patrol. It's especially cute when she ‘senses’ that Raynor had fun with Elenor.
Once she realises she is ‘angry’, her anger is a roundabout wait for her to ask what he did.
It’s just amusing how she can’t gather the courage to ask him about Elenor.
After a few minutes, more people arrived, and it was quite a huge group before long.
Then…
“Check out! The bus is here!”
Raynor looked away from the book and looked at the bus.
He raised his eyes as he noticed a brand new intercity bus. These have six wheels and can carry around a hundred people.
“...not bad.”
“Yes. With how many people are coming, the bus should have been larger,” Amber said with a smile, though her smile disappeared quickly.
She is somewhat annoyed that she needed a group of people and connections to rent a bus like this within their budget.
‘Pretty sure Raynor could have gotten one with a single email.’
“Yes. You are right.” He nodded at her words as he never bothered with amount people and buses. His job was getting the hotel.
“Not bad, Amber. You got a bus that fits all of us.” Raynor smiled as he praised her.
“It was not me. All I did was address the issue of numbers.” She didn’t accept the praise.
In the meantime, the bus arrived in front of them.
The doors opened, and their teacher walked down. The bus side opened, revealing an area to store luggage.
“Start putting your things. We will be leaving in five minutes.” She instructed the students to start putting their luggage in.
“Put the big ones here while you can take your backpacks with you.”
After hearing that, everyone started putting their travelling luggage in the storage area and then going inside the bus.
The homeroom teacher puts a tick on the student’s name and his/her parents' names if they are coming.
Raynor slightly smiled when he recalled the many requests from his classmates to take their parents with them. Not everyone could, and the 20-person limit quickly filled up…
Oh, well, it's not his problem. The hotel doesn’t have that much space.
As far as he can recall, hotels abroad can take much more than that.
‘Whatever, it's enough for our small country…’
Eventually, it was Raynor’s turn as he placed his luggage before walking towards the bus doors.
“Strange. I thought your parents would come with you.” The homeroom teacher looked when she first saw the list; she needed to ask.
“Nope, they are taking the weekend off from ‘me’. They are visiting my uncle’s place in the countryside.”
The teacher looked somewhat perplexed. If his parents need a break from him, he tells them how much he makes them work.
After Raynor, it was Amber.
The girl swiftly caught up with Raynor. There was no way in hell she would allow some ‘fox’ to sit next to him.
As if knowing it was the case, Raynor got a seat for her next to the window.
But the girl shook her head.
“No, you take it.”
For a second, he looked surprised that she didn’t take the window seat.
“Are you sure?” He needed to double-check. He might be overthinking it, but his cousin and the other girls love the window seats.
“Yes, take it.” She confirmed her previous statement.
“...sure.”
After getting the green light, he placed his backpack on the racks above and entered his seat.
The girl then swiftly sat down next to him.
She sacrificed that seat because he would be ‘pinned’ down, and no girl could distract him from taking another seat somewhere else!
It was a calculated move by the girl.
After they got into her seat, Raynor returned to his reading.
Seeing him focused like that instead of exciting doodling is a new look for the girl.
It was different from the forced focus he has when doing homework. This one was a genuine interest.
“I thought you need eighteen to get a license.”
But she realised one issue: there is at least a three-year gap.
“No, one can get a license at sixteen, which is something I will be doing next month.” He clarified before getting into details.
“At sixteen, one can drive a car with no less than a 1.6-litre engine, and it can’t be beyond a specific size.
So cars like Golf and other small ones work just fine.” He explained to her.
“...Oh, that is new. Is it a new law?”
“Yep. Though, I don’t think it will be around for long. But it will be enough for me until I am eighteen.” Raynor imagined the amount of roadkill going to happen after drunk teenagers decided to kiss trees and concrete walls with their cars.
“So you are getting a car soon!? " a voice behind him said with an excited tone. It was Paul, and next to him was Justin. The pair also sticks around Raynor, but whatever influence they try to cast on him gets shattered by the girl next to him, who acts like a barrier of some sort.
Otherwise, Raynor could be doing silly stuff now that everyone knows the teen is wealthy.
“Yeah, I will go to the Volkswagen salon after passing the theory.”
He shrugged. Raynor already has driving experience; that comes from countryside driving with his father’s old Jetta, which he got in the mid- to late 1990s.
“Damn… a brand new…”
The students around him could only dream of a new car…
