“Are you sure this is fine? He might be a war hero, but part of the government before even twenty… it never happened before in Orb history.” 

One of the politicians said to Lord Uzumi.

“He isn’t just a War Hero, but someone who defeated a whole country himself.” The Lion of Orb reminded him.

“With the technology he developed in the middle of a battle, I might add.

One thing we can agree on is that he is a genius and an asset we should use if we can.” He looked at them.

“In moderation. That is why he is part of technology development.” 

“I understand. But it’s a bit…” The politician looked a bit nervous as it was crazy for him.

“I understand. However, we need him if we want to maintain our sovereignty in the face of great powers like the Earth Alliance and ZAFT.” 

As they talked, more people gathered in the meeting room. One of them was Kira, who stood out even though he was dressed in part of it. He was the youngest by a landslide.

“Good, everyone is here. We shall start with Kira. I assume you have a presentation for us?” Lord Uzumi looked at Kira, who had a laptop with him.

“Indeed, I've been working on this for a while.” Kira nodded as he got up, took his laptop to a pedestal used for presentations, and connected it to the big screen.

He then pulled out a short metal stick and extended it.

Moments later, the screen of his laptop appeared. It showed an image of a city with a space elevator in the middle of it.

“I call this project Sunrise. Many of you already know that I took over Morgenrote and its projects. 

One of them is the space elevator.” He pointed at the line going into the space.

“In my free time, I have finished designing the linear trains that will go into space, and the infrastructure we will have.”

As he explained, some of them already had questions.

“Do we have material that could hold the elevator’s weight? The project was delayed because we simply had no means to build it.” 

Kira smiled as he showed the next picture, which showed the interior of the elevator and the train designs.

“This war led to an array of new technologies that we can use in the civil sector, one of which is the refinement method for light metals.”

He showed the metal at the atomic level, where the atoms are manually altered to take the form of a hexagon.

“This is possible at a large industrial scale with the Mirage Colloid emitter.” 

“But I thought this specific technology could make ships and mobile suits invisible.”

“Indeed, how do you think it reflects light? The atoms line up to reflect light, but you can do much more than hide something. If you combine heat and mirage colloid, it’s possible to refine massive amounts of resources.

A refinement that we can do in a certain space station that we all know about.

Combined with drones and AI, we can finish the elevator in a year. With the elevator finished, our self-sufficiency is guaranteed. We could build colonies as fast as PLANTs, making us a space superpower.” 

“...I assume you have the means to get the resources?” Lord Uzumi asked when he realised that his cabinet finally understood why he had Kira in his cabinet.

They were too speechless to comment.

“Indeed, destruction of Heliopolis would have long-term consequences for Orb. We need to return to asteroid mining and colony construction as soon as possible. That is why I am proposing an expedition to the Asteroid belt to bring over asteroids with those resources.

I am volunteering as I have the resources to do so.” Kira smiled as he volunteered.

The smart people in the group quickly snapped out.

“In that case, we must mount an operation. Since Lord Yamato has the means to reach that place quickly, we should join him and make it a group effort.” One of the nobles responded, knowing what this would mean if Kira did it alone.

The kid would become insanely rich and most likely the richest man in human history.

“My thoughts precisely.” Lord Uzumi nodded.

“We are authorising the use of Archangel Corp for your expedition. Make the necessary changes to the ship for the long voyage to the Asteroid Belt," the leader of Orb ordered, making Kira smile at him.

“I will, you can leave this to me.” 

“In the meantime, we will begin to work on the other parts of the project.” 

The Ultimate Coordinator nodded as he showed his plans for ORB City.

The politicians gawked as they realised this would be a city in the middle of the sea, connecting their islands, making transportation even easier!

Obviously, Kira invested a huge amount of his money into this, which means he will get a huge cut in all of this.

Not that Lord Uzumi complained, as he wants the Ultimate Coordinator to lay his roots in his nation.

After the meeting, Kira began to organise his expedition. The warship Archangel was ordered to enter dry docks for upgrades.

Because of his free rein, he decided to strip the ship, refurbish it, and add new systems. The entire bridge will have a hologram interface. The new engines will require more power, so that means he will need to install experimental tech, including a nuclear reactor.

Thankfully, the ship is still in space so that the work can start immediately.

With plans sent to the space station, Kira returned home, where everyone had been waiting for him.

“Welcome back, Kira. How was the first day in office?” Lacus swiftly walked to the doors the moment she heard them open.

The coordinator chuckled as he realised she was more nervous than he was!

“It was great, all of my projects have been approved.”

“All? Even the city!?" She exclaimed in surprise. Building a new city between islands in water is… expensive, to say the least.

“Even the city. I was assigned Archangel for the expedition to the asteroid belt. I do have free rein in this.” He smiled while saying that. This is going to be great!

“Congratulations!” The girl smiled back, making Kira walk over to her and pull her into a hug.

“Let’s go get something to eat, and then we will buy that land~" He whispered into her ear, making her tremble a bit.

“Okay.” She slowly nodded, but then he surprised her as he kissed her for a second before pulling deeper into the house.

“K-Kira, your parents are in the house, don’t do that!” She complained about random showers of affection!

“Relax, they all know that Lacus is my fiancée~” He teased her instead as they walked to the kitchen where his mother was cooking a storm.

“Kira! Welcome back! How was it?” The blue-haired lady asked curiously.

“It was wonderful. They agreed on all of my proposals and even decided to invest personally.” He smiled at the last part. The coordinator knows it will be a huge cash cow.

It’s a space elevator? Duh! Regardless, Kira will own the majority of the stock. It will fund his future projects.

“Glad to hear that they are on board with all of it.” She was happy that his hard work paid off.

“Now go change your clothes, your food will be ready in just a few minutes.” She looked at his purple clothes.

“Alright.” Kira walked out of the kitchen with his laptop in hand.

Kira’s parents took the pair to the location where Kira bought the land. It was a cliff with a beach to the side.

There was no road to this location, so the group had to take a short trip on foot.

“Ohh! What a view!” Lacus exclaimed as she looked at the ocean before her.

“It is. I was expecting as much.” Kira used his hand to cover his eyes from the sun; he should have taken a hat with him.

“You mean to say you took this whole area?” Kira’s dad looked at the beach on the side. The whole area looked untouched…

Something like this is unheard of on an island nation… so the government should have protected this area.

“Indeed. I had to pull some strings, and it cost quite a bit. The way things are going, the other islands will be inhabited soon.” Kira said with a knowing smile. The population growth has been stalled for a considerable amount of time, thanks to two influenza epidemics and the war.

But with the growth, he is envisioning that Orb will become a superpower. 

“So you know that this is a bit unheard of? This area most likely was protected.” He frowned.

“And it will be. I won’t be planning to build a resort or something; it will be a private beach for us to take a walk.” Kira shrugged while saying that. His fiancee likes her walks, so he added the beach…

He looked at Lacus, who blushed a bit. She realised that he had added this beach to the territory because she had told him that she would like to have a walk at a beach.

“...Right…”

“Anyway, it looks good.” The Ultimate Coordinator pulled out his phone and pressed a couple of times.

A few short moments later, he got connected to his company.

“I checked the site, you may send in the crew.”

After saying that, he finished the call and pocketed the phone.

“Let’s go, we are done here.”

“Alright. Since this is done, you're going to space soon, right?” His mother nodded as she asked about his work.

“Yes, I will be switching between the space station, Morgenrote, and the parliament," He explained with a nod.

“I can assist with Parliament. I've been trained for it.” Lacus chipped in from the side.

“I know, I am thinking of taking you with me for the next meeting. I am going to make you my assistant or secretary.” He said the last part in a suggestive tone.

The girl blushed as she was smart enough to understand his fascination with military clothes and uniforms in general.

“Good, you two should work together.” However, his parents didn’t understand Kira’s meaning.

Lacus blushed even more as she realised that they had no idea what he meant! She looked at him with a bit of anger. He should stop with this kind of teasing.

But all Kira did was hug her with one arm as they walked back to the parked car in the distance.

For the next several days, the pair worked to settle a couple of things, allocating resources for the projects and getting used to the new government duties.

While Kira's current core project is getting the mining asteroids, he still needs to prepare stuff for the space elevator, adjust the design for forges, organise the area for the new city in the middle of the ocean, and be responsible for security and armies of Orb.

However, a huge perk in all of this is his fiancée, who has a knack for management. She quickly began to sort out administrative tasks while Kira focused on the designs, software, and technology that would allow all of this to happen.

In the middle of all of this, Lacus mentioned something else…

“What do you think next year in August?” She asked all of a sudden as she was checking pictures on her pink laptop.

“We could rent one of the palaces. I am surprised how many manors and villas are for rent.” The girl commented, Kira turned away from his designing table and looked at her.

“What are you talking about?” He was a bit confused.

“Hmph! So you don’t want to marry me?” The girl puffed her cheeks.

“W-What? I don’t mind August! Any day, any year!” Kira scrambled to agree.

The girl smirked, seeing his reaction.

“So you do care~.” She teased him, finally! 

“Of course I care about my Songtress~.” The Ultimate Coordinator scrambled to his feet and walked over to her. He stepped closer to her as he began to look through the villas and manors with her.
