“There are so many of them! Wow! Can’t decide which one to get!” Skyla looked at the trees; she could see Pidgeys in them. There were some Caterpies on the tree trunks and branches, and there were some Mankeys further in the distance as well.

The place was lively, to say the least!

“If you need help, I can tell their natures, gender and characters.” Ray offered his help.

“You can do that?” The girl looked at with surprise on her face.

“I am a psychic.” He dropped a look at Deoxys.

“...The Pokémon made you psychic!?” Elesa exclaimed, she was a bit worried! Could he read her thoughts and pick up all the ideas she is having!?

“I had potential, that’s how Deoxys found me.” 

“Oh… so it was like that. It makes sense now.” Skyla now understood why the meteorite in his story chased him all of a sudden.

“Yeah, anyway, let’s see.” He lifted his hand and closed his eyes, focusing on the Tiny Bird Pokémon in the trees who were looking at them with curiosity.

“So those over there are timid, that one over there is lazy, not good for Flying-type Pokémon.

Hmm… that one is brash, and a male, good for combat, but he could focus on close-range instead of tactical fights.”

He explained while pointing.

“I take a brash one! Sounds good!” Skyla pulled out her Pokeball.

“Come out, Swanna!” With an eager throw, her Water/Flying type manifested in front of her.

“Use Water Pulse, Swanna!” The Unovan Bird opened her mouth and created a ball of compressed water energy and shot at a cautious-looking Pidgey.

The bird accepted the challenge and began to attack back.

“Oh, he's going for a Quick Attack,” Ray commented from the side.

“Yeah, use your Peck!” Skyla acknowledged the comment and then issued a counter order.

The larger bird clashed with the smaller bird, and the smaller bird ended up being pushed back.

“Not bad, your Swanna is trained well.” 

“Hehehe.” The girl rubbed the back of her head in embarrassment before focusing on her fight.

“You do know she is a future gym leader,” Elesa commented with crossed arms.

“Oh? Not bad.” Ray smiled when he heard that.

“You don’t look that surprised.” The black haired girl replied, making the Professor nervous internally. He didn’t consider that Elesa could be sharp, that sharp in reading facial expressions.

“Regular trainers and those with a special background can be easily set apart.

It is clear that Skyla’s father or relative is an experienced trainer.”

“Her grandfather is the current Gym Leader of Mistralton City, and you were right. Skyla is on an adventure to gather experience before taking over the gym.” Elesa explained that there was a certain look in her eyes.

Ray didn’t need to focus on her that much to perceive what she was feeling. Was it jealousy?

‘I sense… need of purpose? Damn these powers are amazing, I can figure her out so easily…’

“And you?”

She looked at him for a second before sighing in resignation.

The girl began to count on her fingers what she wants to be.

“I want to create a gym in my city, then I want to be in Elite Four, maybe even a Champion, then I want to be a model, a coordinator, a performer… 

A lot of things, but I don’t think I can… I can focus on one thing, that is why I decided to travel, to find my true calling…”

She explained before looking at him.

“And you? I never asked that before, do you want to be a regional Professor?” She asked curiously, getting a bit closer to him.

“No, I want to be Pokémon Master.”

“...Huh… Didn’t expect that.” She didn’t question him after hearing that.

“You don’t want to ask more? What actually is Pokémon Master?”

“...No idea… that is why I didn’t go into details.” She smiled a bit.

“It is simple, really… after all… when you are Pokémon Master, you can be anything you want. That means Pokémon Master’s Pokémon are the strongest, you can be a Champion, Coordinator, Model or whatever you want.” He explained to her how he sees it, making her eyes widen, she had this look…

Like something clicked in her.

“...I see… now I get it!” At that moment, she hugged his hand as there was a grin on her lips.

“As expected from the greatest Genius of the modern era! You solved my issue in a matter of minutes!” The black haired girl snuggled into his arm.

“Eli! Not fair!” Skyla rushed over. By this point, the battle was done, and the future gym leader had already captured her Pokémon.

The rose-pink-haired girl grabbed his other hand.

“Hmph! He helped me, now I know what I need to do!” Elesa snorted, as there was a reason for her behaviour.

“And he brought me here to get my Pidgey!” The pair began to argue…

“Umm, can you two not pull me? I am not going anywhere.” He sighed, making them let him go.

Once he was out of the hold, he looked at them. 

“Since you got Pidgey, anything else?” He asked.

“Umm…” Elesa looked at Skyla.

“I would want some Electric types, but I doubt they are easy to find.” The girl explained that she was a bit shy asking like that.

Ray pondered for a bit before he got an idea, a solution for his long-term plan.

“...How about…” 

“?”

“?”

They looked at him, waiting for him to finish his suggestion.

“You two travel with me?” He suggested.

“...”

“...”

Both of them gawked at him.

“Y-You want us to travel with you!?” Skyla exclaimed loudly, making the remaining Pokémon run away from the area. There is barely any left after the battle, but now they are completely gone.

“Yeah. That is if you want to.” He smiled at her.

“Are you serious? Why wouldn’t we!?” The Flying-type trainer exclaimed in an excited tone.

“Yeah! I am coming too! This is one in a lifetime opportunity!” Elesa added that she looked like she had found a legendary for free!

Seeing them react like that made Ray a bit nervous; he had never interacted with other people at this level, so it was a bit overwhelming to see them so excited.

“Okay, then we will return to the Sevii islands tomorrow,” Ray told them.

“Sure. Thankfully, we took all our stuff from the Pokémon Centre.” Elesa nodded happily.

“Yep, it felt like we knew something like this would happen.” Skyla nodded as well.

“And here I thought I was psychic.” Ray shook his head as he motioned for them to follow him.

“By the way, you won’t capture a Spearow?” The Junior Pokémon Professor asked Skyla.

“No. I don’t like those. They look like bullies.” She said with a small shiver.

“That’s because they are.” The Pallet Native chuckle.

“Though they are good as they evolve early, and they can learn Drill Run naturally, they are quite good Pokémon for a quick power grab. However, they have character issues all over the board regardless of nature.” Ray began to nerd out.

“Huh… is that so. Thankfully, I didn’t capture one.” 

As they were walking, Elesa was on her Pokedex checking Kanto Pokémon.

“Umm… so…can we get an update for our Pokedex? Because only half of the Kanto Pokémon are here.” Elesa realised there was no Electabuzz in her Pokedex, as she noticed that Pokémon on Ray’s Trainer Page.

“Sure, let go and check with Professor.” He took them towards the building with a big mill.

“I am going there anyway, I need to collect my Moltres anyway.” 

“Moltres? YES!” The Rose-Pink-Haired trainer exclaimed happily.

After a short trip through a small town, they walked to the Professor’s lab.

“Umm… did something happen?” Skyla noticed the messy lab.

“Yes. My capture of Mythical and Legendary,” the Psychic Trainer commented.

“Oh…” The pair looked at Deoxys for a bit. “Makes sense…”

“It does.” He smiled before walking to the Ranch at the back of the Lab.

“The temperature just went up.” Elesa noticed this small detail.

“Professor testing Moltres myths,” Ray explained to them.

“It can affect weather…wow….” The black haired girl commented, " I didn’t imagine that I would see a day where I would meet Pokémon that can do that!

“Indeed, Zapdos was similar, only that arrogant bird didn’t use that ability.” The Junior Professor commented about THAT incident, and the pair of girls noticed the shift in mood. That battle was a sore spot for him!

A pair of them immediately hugged each other, and Ray looked at them.

“It’s fine, Zapdos is a very good motivator.” He smiled at their behaviour.

“It’s good! Now that we travel with you, we can do mock battles.” Elesa suggested.

“True. My mock battles used to be a bit mechanical; it will be organic now.” Ray immediately got excited about that! Proper training like that is good!

As the trio discussed, they eventually walked to the spot.

“...”

“...”

The pair of girls gawked when they saw Moltres, a tall and royal-looking bird.

“.... So tall! The wingspan of this Pokémon!” Skyla gushed at the sight of the bird before her.

“Over ten metres,” The Professor said from the side.

“Much bigger than any Kanto Bird. This guy makes Pidgeot and Fearow look like a baby chick.” Professor Oak said as he walked over.

“Wow…”

“Indeed.” The old man looked at the pair of them hugging Ray. He shook his head. Well, these ladies are smart; they are pursuing him at a young age…

“Since you are here, I assume you are done with your tasks.” The Regional Professor asked him.

“Yeah, can you upgrade the girls' Pokedexes? They are missing some Kanto Pokémon.”

“Sure, Pokedexes usually are coded for the region they are in. I am surprised that Kanto Pokémon even get spotted in such a distant place.” 

“We do get sightings from time to time. Like Magicarp.” Elesa commented.

Ray and Professor Oak chuckled after hearing that.

“Magicarp should not be considered Kanto, simply because of how widespread it is.” The old man shook his head, Really, Magicarp?

“I guess.”

As the girls discussed with Professor Oak, the world-class Professor, the old man is famous enough to have kids come from all over the world for his summer camp; the pair of girls is not different in that regard.

Ray, on the other hand, finally got free and walked over to his Moltres.

“Thanks for entertaining the Professor, you can return now and get some rest.” The Junior Professor pointed his Pokeball and recalled the bird.

‘Now that I have a free spot, I can take another Pokémon with me.’

Since he will be going with a group, he needs another water type; Milotic immediately comes to mind.

After recalling Moltres, Ray returned to the girls and Professor, and the group proceeded to walk to the lab.

A couple of minutes later in the lab, the professor updated the Pokedexes.

The girls began to check the list of Pokemons… it was in hundreds!

“I installed National Dex, not regional, this way even if you get something outside Kanto, like Hoenn or Sinnoh Pokémon, you will have the information.”

“Thank you, Professor!” The pair thanked him.

“Since that is out of the way, I have a free spot. I want Milotic back on the team. The girls will need an extra ride in the Sevii Islands.” Ray said to his Professor.

“Sure, one moment.” The Professor went to collect the Tender Pokémon.

“What do you mean ride?” Skyla asked.

“What I mean is we will be swimming between Islands.” He said with a shrug.

“...Won’t it be better to take a ferry?” The girl suggested, then added on top. “Or use a flying type?” 

“No, because you have no idea what kind of Pokémon you can stumble upon in the ocean.” He explained with a smile.

“Besides, imagine stumbling upon a sunken city or something like that.” He grinned, excitement in his eyes.

“...I guess…” The flying girl became a bit nervous.

“What? Can’t swim?” 

“Um…”

The pair of them looked a bit uncomfortable.

“Both of you?” He realised that midway.

“Well, you do realise that we are going to be diving with two Pokémon, one of them is a big serpentine Pokémon that works like a properling engine.” 

“Umm…we don’t have gear,” Elesa said. Internally, she was relieved that she realised that! It was a good excuse.

“Since you two will be travelling with me, I can get you the gear. The city I am staying in has all the shops we need.” If they think they can escape… well, they can’t! Ray wants to explore the seafloor, which can hold many mysteries. 

For him, this is practice for Hoenn, where a lot of water exists, many water routes and many hidden secrets under water just waiting for him.

“...Fine,” the pair sighed in resignation.

“Great.” He smiled at them, making the pair already question if this was the right choice for them!

After a couple more minutes, Ray got his Milotic and the group left the Professor to his data.

The old man has collected a lot of things; now he just needs to compile all that data into a single, readable essay.

“Oh my! You brought two of them!” Ray’s mother gasped; she looked very surprised. Her reaction made two of the girls a bit self-conscious… 

“Umm… good day, I am Elesa, and this is Skyla, we are from Unova.”

“Unova? That’s far away!” She looked at her son for a second, surprised even more. Instead of local girls, he is from faraway lands.

“We got to know each other from Pokémon League Forums. I have traded with Elesa, she got me a dragon type.” 

“Oh…” She looked at the black haired girl, very impressed.

“Actually, it was Skyla and me. We worked together on Deino.” Elesa clarified, before looking at Junior Professor.

“How is he? I was a bit concerned, they don’t have the best reputation in Unova.” Truth to be told, she was very worried about sending such a dangerous and vicious Pokémon.

“He is fine. My Nidoking straightened him out.” Ray smirked a bit, remembering all that beatdown.

Two girls looked at his expression.

“Should we be worried?” The girl asked, now concerned for the Pokémon!

“No, he is a dragon; they relish in conflicts.” He clarified.

“If you say so.” Elesa wasn’t that sure, but then again, that Pokémon is dangerous.

“For now, girls, why don’t we get some tea and snacks?” His mother ended up grabbing both and pulling them into the living room.

“Tell me about yourselves, I want to know about Unova!” She was excited to talk.

The pair looked at Ray, who waved at them, as if saying, ‘good luck!’

With the pair gone, the Junior Professor looked at his Mythical Pokémon.

“It’s time for you to learn new moves.” He pulled out his Poké Ball and recalled Deoxys, then went to his room and opened his backpack. After digging through items, he pulled out a case full of discs.

“Now let’s see what we can teach you.” 

The first one was Dark Pulse, then Energy Ball, Water Pulse, Toxic, and Ice Beam.

Ray then stopped on Dream Eater; he needs Hypnosis for this. But honestly, he has no idea how to teach.

“I need Haunter for that…” As he pondered this, he noticed other discs. It was Gravity. “ Wait, Deoxys can learn it!” His eyes widened for a second.

“If I make Deoxys full support…” His lips twitched as he realised that he could ‘break the game’.

His DNA Pokémon can learn Recover; if he can recover, Healing is also possible.

He won’t need Chansey at all!

~~~~~~Meanwhile~~~~~~

“Hmm? I sense one of Molti. What is one of them doing here?” A pink being with a long tail, rabbit-like feet and cat-like ears floated around in the air, trying to feel the source of the presence.

The Pokémon flew closer, realising that this Molti and another potent Pokémon are radiating from a room.

“Huh? Whoa!” The cat-like Pokémon exclaimed as she saw a human child doing something. The cat’s blue eyes widened as she sensed strong psychic power radiating from this boy.

The Legendary Pokémon radiating from his Pokeball are covering him up, so she only noticed him by being close to him.

But now she realised that this boy had captured Moltres and another strange but very strong Pokémon.

‘Very interesting!’

She wanted to read his mind, but he would notice her.

‘Hmm…’ 

The cat pondered for a second, one paw on her mouth, thinking what to do.

‘Oh, got an idea!”

The cat floated down and, for a second, glowed, becoming a Meowth.

The transformed flying cat became a ‘regular’ cat. 

‘Now to infiltrate like in those movies!’ The cat posed for a second like an agent before pretending to be a ‘normal’ cat.

Not long after, the boy left the house.

“Huh?” He spotted a Meowth close to the house.

“Meow!” 

“What do we have here. You are far from your natural habitat. I don’t think one could find a Meowth in this part of Kanto.” The boy with Legendary Pokemon picked up the ‘Scratch’ Pokemon and inspected it.

That moment she felt probing, it was a bit of surprise, but the cat knows how to cover her ground! So all the boy sensed what he wanted to sense.

After a while, he took the cat inside the house.

“Mom! You wanted company, so I found a Meowth for you!” He walked to the living room, where the trio were.

“Oh gosh! That’s a cute one!” His mother walked over and picked the ‘Scratch’ Pokémon from Ray’s hands.

“This will do! Now I have two of them.” She began to stroke the fur of the ‘Normal’ type Pokémon as she walked back to her seat.

Internally, the cat fist bumped, she has infiltrated the household successfully! Now she can watch what is going on here!

… and freeload!

Ray was surprised by the Meowth, but honestly, the cat popped at the right time. Now that his mom has Meowth and Chansey, she won’t be stealing anymore Pokémon from him!

With the cat at the back of his mind, Ray threw a pokeball, and his Deoxys appeared before him.

“I taught you some moves. We are going to practise.” He said to his Mythical Pokémon.

Deoxys floated before him.

“I can sense it. Interesting method of teaching.” The DNA Pokémon was a bit surprised by the array of new moves.

They just appeared in the Pokémon’s mind!

“Indeed, now we only need practice.” Ray nodded, he does like his T.Ms, it's just that they can cost a bit too much.

“Let’s walk a bit further away.” The Psychic trainer left the backyard and walked to the expansive grasslands that are not far from the beach. 

Once he made enough space, the Pallet Native threw another Pokeball, and Dragonite appeared in the air.

“Dragonite, we are going to do some practice. Deoxys learned new moves, and I will use that to train your dodging ability.” He told them his plan. The Dragon Pokémon nodded as the Kanto Pseudo-Legendary was ready for some action.

“Good! Then let’s start! Deoxys! Use Dark Pulse! Dragonite dodge!” 

The DNA Pokémon brought its two limbs closer, and rings of dark energy formed between the tentacle hand and humanoid hand before shooting at Dragonite.

Ray was surprised at the sheer might of the blast; thankfully, his Dragon/Flying dodged, as that blast would have dealt a considerable amount of damage.

“Try again, Deoxys, while you Dragonite continue to dodge.”

The pair proceeded to do this for several more tries.

While the trainer continued to watch. 

“Good, now switch to Energy Ball.” 

The Grass-type move followed next, as the Alien Pokemon used one hand to create a green orb of energy that the Mythical Pokemon shot at Dragonite.

This was training for Ray as well, as he wants to see how Deoxys utilises these moves.

Since it was easy for the DNA Pokémon to utilise, there was direct contact, and the Dragon Pokémon tumbled from the sky.

‘Damn even when Grass deal ¼ of original damage.’ Ray grimaced as he saw Dragonite recover, but the damage was dealt.

“Next is Water Pulse.” 

Deoxys nodded as the Psychic Mythical brought its limbs closer, and an orb of water energy manifested before it was released at Dragonite.

“Dragonite, rotate when you dodge it, then accelerate. Don’t just use all of your energy at all times.” 

The Dragon/Flying type listened to his instructions.

He was able to dodge several times, but then it was time for Ice Beam…

The Pseudo Legendary dodged a couple of times, but then Deoxys landed a direct hit, and the Dragon Pokémon dropped to the ground.

“Already training?” Elesa said from behind.

“Yeah.” He replied before walking to his knocked-out Dragon.

He pulled out a Revive and walked over to revive his knocked-out Pokémon.

“You were able to escape from my mom?” Ray asked with a smirk.

“Skyla is good at this.” She shrugged. “Her bubbly personality counters your mom’s curiosity.” The girl smiled, then looked at him. There was a glint in her eyes.

“Why don’t we have a Pokémon fight? I want to see how good you are.” She looked at Deoxys. “Minus the Pokémon that are recorded in ancient tablets.” 

“I guess. How about three versus three?” He replied.

“Fine by me.” She smiled as she pulled out a pokeball.

“Deoxys and Dragonite take a break for now.” He recalled two of his Pokémon before pulling out a third Pokeball.

“Magnemite, let’s go!” Elesa threw a Pokeball, and a Magnet Pokémon appeared in front of her.

“Oh, a familiar face.” Ray joked as he threw a Pokeball, and Milotic appeared before him.

“...Water type?” She looked a bit surprised.

“You do realise my lineup is for exploration at the moment.” He explained with a sigh.

“I see… well, tough luck.” She winked at him.

“Thanks, I like you too.” He replied without thinking, making her blush!

“W-What are you saying all of a sudden!” She stuttered for a second.

“Only the truth. Now let’s battle! Milotic use Water Pulse!”

“Dodge Magnemite, then use Thunder Wave!”

The Magnet Pokémon was barely able to get out of the way before using his paralysis inducing move.

“Use Water Pulse to block it.” 

The Tender Pokémon swiftly shot another one to slam into the incoming attack.

“Fast.” Elesa looked surprised, and the girl started to feel pressure.

“It’s only the beginning, now Hydro Pump.”

The pure Water type didn’t hesitate before shooting highly compressed water at Magnemite.

The blast sent the Magnet Pokémon flying and knocked it out.

“...One strike… “ She looked surprised before recalling her Pokémon.

“In that case, how about another small target! Emolga, let’s go!”

A Sky Squirrel Pokémon manifested in the air.

“Now, let’s continue! Emolga use Electro Ball!” 

The Electric/Flying type created a ball of Electric Energy before throwing it at Milotic with its tail.

“Use Whirlpool.” 

“...Whirlpool?” Elesa was confused, but sure enough, she understood what was going on. 

Milotic looked up as a huge spinning water torrent manifested before it was thrown at the incoming Electro Ball. 

The ball of electric energy was caught before it was sent flying towards the Sky Squirrel.

“Quick! Dodge with Quick Attack.” The girl ordered, but Milotic glowed with blue energy, and the Whirlpool expanded, capturing the Unovan Pokémon.

The water current pushed the Pokémon to the middle, where it became a sitting target.

“Now, Ice Beam.”

The Tender Pokémon opened her mouth and released a stream of cold energy that nailed right into the Electric/Flying Pokémon; the whirlpool froze in the process, shattering and delivering extra damage.

The Sky Squirrel Pokémon ended up on the ground with swirls in her eyes.

“...”

Elesa recalled her Pokémon. She looked surprised by the turn of events.

“Do you want to continue?” He asked, a bit worried that he overdid it. Well, he is fighting how he usually does, so… he has no idea how to pull his punches.

“I won’t stop just because your Pokémon is absurdly strong! Come out, Zebstrika!” 

Thunderbolt Pokémon manifested in front of Elesa. Ray noticed that it is well taken care of and decently strong, just from the muscle density he noticed.

“Wild Charge!” Elesa instructed with a hand motion, and her pure Electric-type charged at Milotic.

“Use Ice Beam on the ground.” 

The Tender Pokémon turned the area into a skating rink, which caused Elesa’s Pokémon to lose balance, cancelling the attack.

“Now, Hydro Pump.”

The highly compressed water slammed into struggling Thunderbolt Pokémon, sending him flying with a stream of water.

“Thunderbolt!” 

The thunder travelled through the Water and slammed into Milotic, who experienced high voltage.

It lasted for a couple of moments as Zebstrika ended up dropping to the ground, the water attack abruptly ending.

“Not bad. I should tone down the usage of my favourite water-type move.” Ray joked as he instructed his Milotic with the next attack.

“Use Aqua Ring.” 

A ring of water energy surrounded the Tender Pokémon and began to heal her.

“Not on my watch! We can’t allow her to heal! Use Thunderbolt one more time.” Elesa wanted her Pokémon to quickly counterattack, but Ray was quicker and his Pokémon was ready for the next attack.

“Not this time, use Twister.” 

Milotic’s fan-like tail moved, creating a horizontal twister that rushed at Zebstrika and ruthlessly slammed into struggling Pokémon that were about to stand up properly.

The attack sends the pure electric type tumbling and rolling before stopping with swirls in his eyes.

“No way… two attacks? Ray, are you sure you are not training your Pokémon since infancy?” She asked with a strained smile while recalling the downed Thunderbolt Pokémon.

“No. I just have a training method to draw out their power.” He had heard a similar question before.

“I see…”

Ray recalled his Tender Pokémon as he walked over to her.

“You will help me train, right?” She asked, her bright blue eyes twinkling, looking like an electric version of Teddiursa.

Ray showed a strained smile before replying.

“Maybe…”

His reply made her pout.

“First, you tease me with your random comments and now this?” She crossed her arms.

“I could, but it’s a secret method. Something I developed over the years. I can’t simply show it to everyone.” He explained to her.

“Yet, you revealed things like the Pokémon Natures and how to raise Gyarados…”

“Those are the tips of icebergs. I reveal things that hold little value for me. What truly is important, I am keeping close to my heart.” He clarified, causing her to look with realisation.

“Now that makes sense.” She nodded before asking what was on her mind for a while.

“Then why did you reveal your tricks about electric types to me?” She asked, curious.

“Why? Well, cute girl asked, so I had to do something.” He sighed. This girl already figured out… 

‘I guess raising strong Pokémon is easier than understanding females… even in the Pokémon world.’

Elesa blushed even more, it would seem Skyla was right about that, her picture…

“I-I see…” 

“Indeed. I am caught, can’t hide now.” He shook his head while smiling, making her realise that he was teasing her!

“Y-You are teasing me again!” She puffed her cheeks before getting close.

“Since you like me that much, then you can assist me in my quest to find what I want to do. In turn… well… I guess… we can try being a couple or something… never considered that before…” Midway, she realised this had never been on her mind.

“Hmm… I guess…” To him, helping her is not difficult, now that he has a Mythical and a Legendary, he could quickly plateau a whole team to a Champion Level.

“You guess? Then I guess it was just random fascination?” Now the girl teased him back, making the Junior Professor panic.

“Don’t be silly, I am a complete novice in this whole thing! I find it easier to raise Dragon types than doing this!” He complained out loud.

“Fufufu, I guess it makes two of us~” The girl grabbed his hand as she began to pull him towards his house. They need ot patch up her Pokémon who are knocked out.
