Star Wars Rebels

Who's seen this show? I think anyone who likes my approach with Star Wars '99 would really dig it. It actually uses a lot of old Ralph McQuarrie designs, and also essentially pretends the prequels never happened (aside from a couple ties to the Clone Wars cartoon). It's a really, really good show that actually feels like a Star Wars story in a way that I haven't seen since the 90s.

I think the Jedi training moments are the best we've seen in decades. I love how each lesson/moment is built around overcoming a personal issue in some way, rather than just learning a technique or superpower. Come to think of it, it's basically how Aang and Korra learned bending. It's probably why I love it.

I feel like those of us who not only don't subscribe the the prequels AND find Rebels to be a good thing are in a minority. But I'm okay with that. So far the episodes I've seen have been a hoot, and the McQuarrie art is icing.

It's their special power running tightly together without tripping over each other?

My fiance and I have been loving the show. Compelling story and characters from start to finish and more than a few laugh-out-loud moments ("That's not regulation" "Eh, I kinda like it"). It's felt like the perfect mix of storytelling and worldbuilding (universe-building?) in a world that seriously deserves it but hasn't gotten it for some time. It's gotten to a point where I truly care about the characters and can't wait to see what happens to them. Also Chopper's got sass in spades.

I rather enjoyed the episode when they infiltrated the academy. It sort of explained why storm troopers can't shoot.
