1225 - Pencils

But it wasn't for lack of trying as I hope you can see here with the pencils for #1225 (which I'm aiming to have fully coloured and up Wednesday now that I've actually got something presentable) and one of many failed early drafts that survived my futile rage enough to avoid the garbage can just so I could show that I really *am* working on this stuff. Mrgh.
It doesn't really need saying that my shit mental health has made drawing even the most basic shit that I've done a million times again and again into mission fucking impossible, but I'm saying it any way because I apparently never tire of self-pity, making excuses and reminding you all how incompetent I am. Honestly, the fact that I have any fanbase left at all after the past year astounds me. I don't know *why* exactly y'all keep holding me up, but thank you, from the bottom of my tiny weeb heart, thank you. Love y'all.
Like I said, the final product should be up Wednesday. Now that I've beaten art block, the rest should come much easier. And one last thing, in addition to fighting with the art for this particular installment I *also* kept rewriting the script again and again and again. So just to give y'all a look at the very questionable 'creative process', I figured I'd post the previous draft for the discarded strip below. Hope y'all enjoy, thank you for your continued patience with my absences. I'm working through my art block and redoubling my efforts so I don't expect to have anymore significant lapses in updates. Besides which, I'm finally about to get to some real meaty parts of this arc and I'm fired up to see y'alls response. Anyways, enough babbling from me. See y'all shortly with the finished product~

-Xor: I see it's not merely the dressings of the savages you've adopted, but the aesthetics as well.
-Blackstone: Indeed. I find much of it quite charming, particularly those of both the medieval and Victorian eras.

*Two maids greet Blackstone and Xor*
-Maids: Welcome home Mistress Blackstone!
Panel 3
-Maid: Would you like us to prepare your bath, Mistress?
-Maid: Does Stablesister Rhodonite need medical attention? She looks a bit... unwell.
Panel 4
-Blackstone: That won't be necessary my dears. Sister Rhodonite suffered some injuries while on the paths. I'll be personally treating her in the private wing. Please see that we are not disturbed.

There's a tenet in business that customers are more likely to remember that a problem was solved than the problem itself. You've got issues that cause delays in your releases, but in each case, you're able to solve the problem when you do release the next strip. You're also communicating with us about your progress. That's another good practice. A status report lets us know things are still being worked on. Remember what I said before. You have multiple roles that you're doing just by yourself. Other comic strips have a team where one person writes, another does the pencil sketches and/or inks, and a third or fourth does the coloration.

It's like my writing where I just need to have the details of the descriptions just right to fully capture the true way something is.
