Well I think that Eri limit is bigger then that. Because we saw her dive into the water before the girls appeared on the radar. Which probably means that she knows that she might have had to spend some extra time down there. Also her time to swim down took her three and a half minute. If her dive watch is to be believed. And we have seen her by able to do a static breath hold for over 8 minutes. And still be calm, which means that she would save more oxygen. So yeah I think that she should after demonstrating the technique. Just swim down to the bottom or at least keep a close eye on the girls under het. As going up in her normal speed will do no one good as she then would be to far ahead of the others

ohoh , she seems to forgot about something called will power ! D:

There is, of course, an explanation beyond “demonstrating the streamlining technique”, that I can think of. It’s possible that a dive to 190 meters (and as long as that would take for her, even with fins) is the absolute limit to what she can manage, and she’s just much better at not looking like a drowned rat. Though if that were true it would mean she always intended to wait for the competitors instead of going to them, and I’m not sure I like the implications of that.

Yeah, that does seem odd. Even if there's a degree of pragmatism to military training, insuring survival of your comrades as best as possible (e.g. not leaving people behind if that can be helped) is also a major priority.

I'm a bit disappointed in how Eri did just took off and swim on top of everyone. Because should not Eri as an Navy rescue diver veteran know better? Like swimming behind everyone so that she can easily keep track of everyone so that no one get left behind

If I were her, I’d also be a little confused as to what just happened. Her diaphragm and trachea have been immovable and blocked for the longest dive yet, and to a crushing depth not yet achieved. Eri’s training focused more on static breathholds, from what we saw, but this is well beyond a distance they’ve reliably reached. That said, the cousins’ have a track record of carrying progress over from motionless times to full-on swimming with little oxygen depletion in the process, so an 11 minute swim wasn’t impossible for them, as long as they surfaced by then (unfortunately, that hasn’t yet happened). Once they do resurface, I don’t expect Chihaya to regain consciousness immediately. She’ll certainly need help to begin breathing normally, at least. Maybe they brought a pure oxygen tank along on the boat for just such an occasion? Also, according to Eri, the competition had the stipulation “the longest, with no blackout”, so even if the older cousin is hauled up by Aya at this point, she’s lost. I expect the Navy Veteran to (understandably) be more concerned with the competitors’ survival than the actual match at this point, so she’ll probably help Chihaya.

Chihaya: "It's nice here, I think I'll stay" :3

And seems like Chihaya is the first one to black out. Hopefully the others will notice that
