In the original diving girls story, Yaeyama-maru Submerged at a depth of 20 meters, at least 2.5 times atmospheres pressure in the cabin with air which Aya founds.
If Aya doesn't konw decompression, She's been dead for a long time before Chihaya come Miyako. So I think Aya must taught Chihaya the knowledge of decompression.

Yeah I know and the longer you stay at a depth the more the nitrogen bubbles get absorb by the bodies tissues. Also as we can see here Chihaya did indeed breath from a scuba tank at depth. So she would need to release that breath instead of holding it in. To try and protect her lungs

She can handle this :-)

Decompression has more to do with the nitrogen dissolved into the blood. If someone surfaces too quickly, the nitrogen bubbles can expand out of solution and cause issues. These are called the bends. As far as her lungs exploding, that's only if she holds her breath. As a body surfaces, the the compression on the air in the lungs decreases and expands. Not an issue for free divers since the at the most, the amount of air they started with is still in their lungs. The issue with scuba diving is that one can fill their lungs to capacity with the compressed air and it can exceed their lung capacity upon surfacing.

Let hope that her lungs burst of not being able to hold her breath anymore versus bursting because of decompression sickness ;)

Dose she not need to decompress? her lungs might be explosion. She must exhale all the air in her lungs first before she rise up.

I hope that Chihaya breath out during her ascent, mainly so that she doesn’t get decompression sickness
