If Aya doesn't konw decompression, She's been dead for a long time before Chihaya come Miyako. So I think Aya must taught Chihaya the knowledge of decompression.

Also as we can see here Chihaya did indeed breath from a scuba tank at depth. So she would need to release that breath instead of holding it in. To try and protect her lungs

If someone surfaces too quickly, the nitrogen bubbles can expand out of solution and cause issues. These are called the bends. As far as her lungs exploding, that's only if she holds her breath. As a body surfaces, the the compression on the air in the lungs decreases and expands. Not an issue for free divers since the at the most, the amount of air they started with is still in their lungs. The issue with scuba diving is that one can fill their lungs to capacity with the compressed air and it can exceed their lung capacity upon surfacing.
