Apnea Girl Versus Girl 05

Comments

That poor girl has been holding her breath for 6 weeks now!

Gil Thomas

Thinking some, the records are all "constant weight," not "no weight." Our girls are "no weight." Apparently that's called Natural Apena, and nobody ever bothers with it. A female. incidentally, holds the 'record' at only -40 meters, and that was in 1999. The reason I put 'record' is that apparently nobody else ever has bothered to set one; that was the -only- time somebody attempted to set a record, and I'd be surprised if there haven't have been plenty of dives deeper (even by the same diver). It seems nobody ever actually bothers setting records or even personal bests, or heck even 'doing' it in the first place. Frankly, I'd be shocked it Aya -didn't- exceed that even BEFORE "Diving Girls" (and Chihaya's first dive) even started!

Well, I'm hoping for more. We'll see what actually transpires, but personally I hope Saki makes it safely to the surface (just). I get the impression that this sort of deep diving is as much about attitude and will power as about pure breath-hold times, and Saki seems to be more driven in that respect. As you've said, Chihaya and (especially) Aya should in principle be able to do at least as well as Saki and very likely better, and now that Saki has demonstrated breaking the 100-metre barrier (handsomely) we might imagine they'll all be in that zone. Looking at real-world freediving, old codgers like me will recall the wonder and amazement when Enzo Maiorca first made 60 metres in constant weight (with fins), but now that's regarded as a very ordinary performance in competitions. Similarly, the big fuss with the first 100-metre in no-limits, and now there are a number of divers (including at least 4 women I think) who've bettered that in constant weight.

Humm... Is this actually the end of Girl Versus Girl? Ambiguous ending -I've written a couple. Interesting choice, but actually not a bad one - let the reader decide what happened! (Of course, I might be proven VERY wrong in a few hours.

Same i really think that she passed out just after the photo.

The big question - who's in the hospital? Saki? or Aya?

Misty May

That's assuming there is a photo... I would bet on it being simply our point of view, with the viewpoint simply from empty water.

Misty May

Wonder who takes those photos of proof~

Dragon-Tear

A hospital? I'm really curious about what happens next now.

Next day in the Hospital....

I don't believe it. but I actually found the ChihAya issue of Sports Today on a newsstand magazine rack! And the article everybody nearly drowned for in the original 5 Minute Summer is in it! Will be uploading scans over the next few days. Traveling and some 'dated' technology mean it will be black and white only. https://johnlydiaparker.deviantart.com/gallery/65537740/Sports-Today-ChihAya-article

Wait a second - that IS -the- hospital on Miyako! (Miyakojima Tokushukai Hospital, to be exact.) Practically a carbon copy of one of Savaster's photos. 100% confirmed. Also viewed from the exact same spot, even. Same building on the left, same building in the background. It's actually the source photo for the one in The Surface 10. It seems both savaster and me agree that the additional floors on the right and the sloped roof outbuilding just have to go. (I photoshopped them out; savaster simply didn't draw them.)

I actualy just noticed both aya and chihaya change swimsuit's with time but saki doesn't, it's something to do with her father or like a surpestition like luck, i know a couple of freediver's my self included that have that thing for a expecific swimsuit... and going off topic a little bit is that a hospital does that mean that saki didn't come back up on her on power?

Huhhh?? So apparently they all made it to the surface on their own. Aya's max depth -134 meters. Saki went about another 16 meters. Surprised, honestly, Saki's (by my math) shouldn't have won this one. Perhaps Saki has an advantage in terms of density?
