Summer Run!

Aya is prepping up for her 100 meter run at the All Miyako Island Junior High Track and Field Tournament. Though not a standing member of the T&F Club, her strong cardio and her lean/muscular build innately has made Aya a great athlete and, officially, the fastest girl in her school. Here she will compete with the thirteen other junior highs from around the Miyako archipelago. Winning will be considered quite a feat, possibly with a mention in the local news and a ticket to the Okinawa Prefectural.

All around her are nervous faces, sweating and flexing - but to her all of this feels somewhat like a breeze. At the end of the day, this was just land with lots of breathable air, and none of her rivals would ever beat her swimming down to Yaeyama-maru.

Hmm?

I can imagine stumbling around Monday morning - not from drinks, but from trying to remember how to walk on land.

Was thinking... The "Ultimate ChihAya," only needing to surface a few times an hour, Aya can catch fish, and they can nap underwater - the only problem is drinking salt water doesn't work. That's actually not as far out of bounds as it may seem. Flash forward 5 years - Chihaya will likely be doing 9 minutes, and Aya god only knows but at least 10 if not longer. (She's 14!) Only needing to surface 6-7 times an hour, Aya can likely catch fish already, and Aya might well someday learn how to sleep underwater... Bring a big create of fresh water, and they someday might well able to spend a weekend under the ocean.

Interesting worldview Aya has -a true girl born to the sea, her world is one of limited air supply, where fresh air to breathe is a luxury. All you have is what you brought with you, and you'd better be able to make it last for another minute for the trip up if you don't want this dive to be your last. "Wow, unlimited air! This should be easy." Adorable.

Would be interesting to see how far these 14 could run without breathing. Prediction - Aya finishes the 100 m, rest don't get past 50.

With her oxygen efficiency, she should do great :D Plus, I love seeing girls in tomboyish outifts :-3

Neat little story - it's interesting seeing Aya doing another sport.
