It is year 1579 (天正7年), one year before the ninja sisters of Ren (漣) and Rokumon (六文) from Kagerou feat had to flee the hermit domain of Iga (伊賀国) and to become the vengeful stray assassins that we know.

Rokumon had been tapped by House Moori (毛利家), the ruler of the eleven middle provinces, to recoup a highly sensitive scroll that had gone down with one of its atakabune (安宅船) vessels, off the coast in the Inland Sea. The ship had been heavily guarded by the pirate clan of Murakami (村上水軍) and had withered an attack from the navies of House Oda (織田家), the demonic warlord and conqueror, only to be taken down by a heavy storm. The ship was sunken so deep, more than 40 fathoms (尋) or 70 meters, and even within the elite Iga clan, Rokumon was among the very few that could carry out this search and recovery. Her breath-stopping and diving skills were attained through prohibitively rigorous training since early childhood, which drowned and killed many of her less gifted peers, and she was said to even surpass her older sister Ren (the best of the clan) when it came to the technique of staying and maneuvering underwater.

After taking her last deep breath, Rokumon dives deep to carry out her mission, unaware of the harms that await her in the deep sea...
