As unrealistic as I find their hold times, I find that preparation scene to be incredibly sexy. I guess you can say I’m a “sucker for all things relating to packing/preparation >~<. I was a bit caught off guard when I heard their supposed ages though ^^; (I actually thought Aya had a car for some reason.....may have been a reeeealy old post back towards the start of his Patreon career)

2020-02-07 05:48:57 +0000 UTCThis is an excellent explanation but we must also remember the history of the family of aya and chihaya who come from a line having great aptitude for freediving but for eri it is due to a long training so it know more but putting into practice it takes longer unlike the two girls who have more comfort but no real practice (in audodidacte).

Regardless, what I think she’s trying to illustrate here is that the cousins are only using 70% of their potential, and that there are clear ways for them to improve. So, running the numbers, if Chihaya is capable of a nine minute breath hold now, her full potential for a static time would be... an UNBELIEVABLE 11:42 (with Aya maybe being a flat 13)! Since swimming and pressure only affect their times by at most 1 minute, each of them could theoretically spend over 10 minutes on a mobile free dive. Insane! This also explains why Eri won the day, even if only by a small margin. She’s already operating at or near her peak, while the cousins have only trained to this point using their lungs, or “chest cavity”. That clears up the mystery of why they’re each rated as better breath holders (in stars) than the navy veteran. I feel like we’re finally uncovering some much-needed answers, though the elephant in the room seems to remain Saki.
