It's interesting seeing Saki expressing this kind of humility while talking about or being around Aya. We've mostly seen more of the rivalry between the two show up to now, so this is kinda neat.

2020-04-02 11:00:52 +0000 UTCSure, Aya likes the ocean, and both she and Chihaya are extremely capable freedivers. But I agree with Tomokazu here. Let’s look at the facts. Saki’s comfortable depth is down around 50 meters, nearly double the cousins’, and has been for much longer, since at least AGMG, when the other two barely made it down and back. The Shrine Maiden also has, at the moment, at least an 11 minute breathhold, and it’s safe to say she can be mobile for all of it (in Sanctuary 2 she’s been persisting on residual lung volume for a good four minutes AFTER an already five to six minute dive, and still has 70 meters to go, so the math essentially evens out), while the Yaeyama-Maru duo has managed nine minutes, COMPLETELY MOTIONLESS. All three girls have different swimming styles, but Saki has the most energy efficient-to-speed ratio. There’s also the issue of “baggage”: Aya has to save her cousin almost every other dive, while Saki is only concerned with herself. You can’t even judge the Shrine Maiden on her limits DURING a dive, as she remains perfectly composed until the moment of her blackout, while the Yaeyama-Maru duo show clear signs of their approaching fatigue. The only way that I see for the cousins’ to pull off a win would be somehow related to underwater strength (lifting, pulling, etc.), but again, only Aya could compete in that category and we don’t even know how talented Saki is in that discipline, though it’s fair to say she most likely has some experience.
