updates: Stuff I'm working on :>

this is a just a little text post to talk about some of the projects i'm currently working on! Here's a list of things i'll touch on in this post:

Demo Reel: 

so! As i've finally gotten my recording space to a place where I have a much more professional sound, it's time for me to create a demo reel that reflects my new quality! There is a casting service which focuses solely on nsfw content and they're holding an open casting call for new voices from now until the end of January, so my hope is that in the next two weeks i'll be able to finish at least a sort of... sample demo..? temporary demo? I looked into having one produced for me and it is uhhh not in the budget right now lmaooo. but I think with the experience i do have, I should be able to at least create a demo worth using to apply! Who knows, maybe in the next couple months you'll hear me in your new favorite e-game :O 

Website:
o boi building a website is a skill I have yet to acquire... I feel like working for myself has lead me to start learning a lot of new skills i never had before... Audio engineering, website design, motion capture.... [help]
if you haven't already seen it, I do have a WEBSITE! My plan is that in the future, when i have the time and patience to get it all sorted, this website will serve as the home for all of my audio content! My master list, demo reels, resume and maybe even exclusive content! [like, we could leave patreon maybe..? what?] but all of that is pretty far in the future. I feel like im still in the stage of my career where i haven't settled into what exact niche i want to make my own [thus this weird fake hiatus that i didn't put a concrete end on <.<;;; ] anyway, I'm working on trying to redesign my website to be more audio-centric, rather than text-post-centric, but since this is a pretty small subsect of audio content [unlike music or podcasts] im having a really hard time trying to figure out the absolute best way to design the user interface for ease of use for you guys. I don't really have anything to go on since there aren't a TON of other sites like the one i want to create! I'm also.... not a web designer... so what im able to do myself is pretty limited and sometimes it gets super frustrating ;~ ;  Bu hopefully that's something i'll be able to figure out for the future!

Another thing I wanted to touch on briefly is that, with some of the situations circling reddit right now, I'm not entirely comfortable putting myself out there [for a number of reasons] and I understand that most of you discovered me from reddit and still want to be able to listen to my audios there. It's possible that in the future I may post there more regularly again, however, I don't honestly feel like it's an amazing idea right now. So for the time being, I will be posting audios to my website first, then my subreddit, and hopefully, later down the line, posting them onto other audio subreddits.  This doesn't exactly always apply to you if you're reading this, because i do try my best to upload here first, but in case you unsubscribe, i wanted you to be aware :) 

New Vtuber Design:
if somehow you don't already know, I'm a Vtuber on Twitch under my SFW alias, Ruby Voxx. [come and out with us!! just keep in mind i don't talk in detail about my NSFW content username on my twitch or youtube because it's easily accessible to minors]  for the last couple of weeks i've been working with an artist and designer to create a new persona that isn't just 'a girl' LOL.  we've finally decided on the outfit and the colors and we're working on getting the hairstyle together o-o The plan is that hopefully in march/april the modeler I want to hire will open commissions and accept mine! this is the biggest project i've ever kept secret and it's killiNG ME AHH.
I've never been super big into the Vtuber culture, and honestly, until a few weeks ago, i didn't even consider myself a Vtuber, but there's something a lot of popular vtubers do called a 'debut'. it's because they were originally based off of Idol culture! While I don't think i would ever consider myself an idol [maybe a rejected idol, lmaoooo] I think it would be cute to still have a debut of sorts :)
To get ready for that [which wont be for MONTHS] i've been working on getting commissioned art from a couple of different artists to create a sort of fake 'fan art gallery' to release in the weeks leading up to the reveal! I'm hoping it will create some hype and get people excited about her :>
I'm not revealing the exact design until a long way away from now, but I can say she is not human. She kind of.. comes out at night, and i've been jokingly referring to her as Ruby Noxx.

Auditions:

I AUDITIONED TO BE AN ERO-VTUBER LOLLLLLLLLL HELP. IDK WHAT IM DOING. it's a very small company in the beginning stages, and their goal is to create like... lewd hololive. They were looking for people with experience in NSFW voice acting, as well as Vtubing and i was like I KNOW THE THINGS. so i auditioned. we'll see lol.

learning stuff and- ugh
for months now i've been trying SO HARD TO LEARN HOW MOTION CAPTURE AND FULL BODY MOTION CAPTURE FOR VTUBING WORKS AND I CRY A LOT OKAY. i have no idea what i'm doing. i can't seem to wrap my brain around how the information goes from the sensors in the gloves/mocap system, into my model and how to get it there. I am not a tech person and i am sooo frustrated. but i keep trying ;~ ;

Quarantine:
ew.
unfortunately my area got really, really bad recently and my partner has had to stay home from the office on most days- leaving me only one day a week where i have th house to myself to record. This has made things like, taking commissions, recording regular updates for youtube/reddit, recording auditions, and recording patreon audios real difficult. oof.
we're hoping to have a better schedule worked out within the next two weeks and hopefully that means my recording schedule won't be so stressful. for now, sorry for not having as much content out!!

New Patreon stuff:
i mentioned a couple weeks back that i would be working on the patreon tier rewards during this fake 'hiatus' and i am still working on it!!! I've looked at your responses to the poll and, as i said in an earlier update audio, it seems like the VAST majority of people stated their main reasons for subscribing/favorite were the discord server. I also had a ton of answers that were 'i just wanted to give some support!' and 'i wanted some exclusive content!'
Let me start by saying i know that a lot of people run their patrons differently. many people use patreon almost as a way to accept monthly commissions, some use it more like a storefront, and some use it more as a donation system. 

the way that I think works best for me, and also seems to be in line with what you all said you subscribe for, is a donation system with some extra rewards. you guys seem to genuinely enjoy chatting with me on discord and hearing my updates and ideas and getting to be first to know what i'm up to or what im planning. i used to have a lot of stress over trying to wait for voting and submissions and then try to write/record/edit and audio in one week while also still doing all of the other things i do and it felt like a circle of stress that started over every month and i knew i needed to change how i did it.
Over the next couple months i'm going to keep trying things, so rewards might shift a little bit during that time. I promise to keep you updated and i promise to keep giving you all some kind of exclusive audio content every month. I can't promise i'll know exactly what, or how, but you will get something while I'm trying out new things.
