Hello thar! Here with an update for that project you guys voted on and...
Well, this is a three days before/after kind of thing(3rd-6th of February). Can you guess which is before and which is after? I think you can!
Things have been processing SO smoothly! Godot is incredibly user-friendly as an engine and in my case, it helps that its programming language -GDScript- is very similar to Python, which Ren'py is based on. So a lot of the stuff I learn in Ren'py can be translated to it and viceversa!
Here's a list of what I've achieved so far!
- Procedural Generation of NPCs
- Tilemap with autotiling, terrains, physics properties and Y sorting
- Inspect/Interact actions
- HDR2D lighting
- Integration of Dialogic Plugin
- Debug Label to check grid coordinates
- Follow Camera for Player
- Zoomed in perspective
What is left before I have a prototype you can get your hands on:
- Transition from room to room
- Permanence/Refresh of proc generated NPCs
- Basic RPG style Skill Checks
- Main Menu
Once we have all that over and done with, we can start thinking of an actual story, setting and gameplay loop! I have a couple of ideas already~ Stay tuned!
