I think what you guys missed in this episode is that Scott tried to go about getting Liam the Derek way. The words he was saying were what Derek told him the first episode. Derek was also creepily following him around and disappearing. He literally went the Derek playbook and Chris had to tell him, use your own words. I think the problem was that it was so long ago that people forget and we get to thinking that Scott should know better. But we got to remember that Liam is Scott's first beta (beside Isaac, but it was a very different situation) and he also never had to tell someone that they are turning into a werewolf.
