I know I’ve said this before, but every so often you come up with a piece that reads really well as a portrait, as opposed to, say, an illustration. This Tammy piece is one of those, I think. It also is reminiscent of “The Naked Maja” by Goya, painting known for the model’s straightforward and unashamed gaze out at the viewer, as can also be seen in this portrait of Tammy. Manet’s “Olympia” comes to mind as well, for some of the same reasons. Both those paintings moved things forward in art, perhaps allowing us all the opportunity to enjoy this fine portrait of Tammy. A lovely piece!
