Private Librarian Millie

In case anyone's interested, here's what my sketches have been looking like these days.  I always start with that little postage-stamp-sized sketch that's in the upper right, and this one got a second to try a higher vantage point that I decided I didn't like.  The larger sketch on the left is then what I transfer onto the board using a projector, the "old school" way.  Lately I've been making an effort to not get carried away with structure and details on these, instead trying to use them just to locate where things go.  The tiny sketch then becomes a map of where the big lights and darks will go.  Usually they're not worked out as far as this one was, but I was pleased that the full-sized piece came out pretty close.

The high-resolution version of this piece is now uploaded to behindandysdames.com.

The original art for this is available for sale here: andysdames.bigcartel.com

Oh we know it's Boo! :-)

This was an interesting one, for sure. I wanted to do something strikingly different with the composition, though I wasn't sure if it would go over well. Seems to have done okay, though!

I needed a white cat for maximum contrast against the chair, so who knows... it could be!

Who knows what the old Boo Cat is into? She's a creature of mystery. Except when she wants food. She's pretty clear about that.

BOO!

Has Boo gotten into the kinky side with Millie? It's even better seeing the process in person! Andy thinks I'm off my rocker that I enjoy sitting there watching him do his process to get a drawing and watch him work on the actual drawing. :-D

Hmm, the Eames chair and Millie make quite a formal (formidable?) pair. Nice work. Looks like you had fun putting this environment together, and with the white cat, I can only imagine who’s alter-ego should be strolling in to have a seat…shaken, not stirred!

And thank you for your continued support, so I can keep making them!

Thanks, I'll try to remember to do this kind of thing once in a while.

That's okay, it's hard for me to figure it out, too!

I think it's great the patrons get to see some of the process. Because otherwise it's hard to figure out how you do what you do!

Thank you for the effort you put it to them. I really appreciate it.

One of my favs as well.

Nix001

Thanks for that, I am among others who also enjoy the process

Glad you liked 'em!

No problem! It's been quite a while. Usually the sketches are "a bit too much" for Patreon.

BTW, the latest Toni & Stephie was one of my favorites, thanks!

Thanks for the insight into your process. Nice to get a look behind the curtain!
