Thanks! I do occasionally put the darker tones in the figures like this, but not as often, for sure. I've also just been going a little darker with the values on my figures in general for the last couple of weeks, though only by a slight degree. Overall, yeah, I was pretty pleased with how the values worked out in this one.

2023-05-30 01:40:51 +0000 UTCWhat I like about this piece, beside the obvious, is how you opened up the space behind the figures with light, airy values, keeping the darker tones for the foreground figures. Also, nice overall control of the entire value structure of the piece as the values (whether lighter or darker) all fall off smoothly from right to left. Now, what’s that saying about “a friend in need”…
