Glad you liked it! I was pretty fond of the opposing gestures between her body and hair, myself. I'd actually planned on white accessories in the early stages, but I think the black worked out for the better, eh?
2018-03-15 22:15:54 +0000 UTCI think the yellow/purple complementary color scheme works well with Mona, and I really like the heavy braided hair, which I think adds an additional cool texture to her personality. I also like the way her braid balances with her body as the eye goes up and down through the composition, creating a bit of an infinity symbol, or a strand of DNA. In fact, her braid makes me think of a DNA helix, and that form is mirrored in how her hair and body flow opposite each other up and down through the composition, mimicking the double helix, perhaps? I guess I'm thinking a lot about science tonight in light of Stephen Hawking's passing. Just shows to go ya that it's all interrelated. I also really dig the fact that you did not include outlines in this piece as you normally do. It adds to the painterly quality of the piece, and the contrast between the warm colors of her figure and the purple/violet background create enough strong "lines" that actual ones are unnecessary. I think it also aids in how the highlights around various edges of her body bring out the 3-D form in the figure, making it all more visually believable. With that said, the pinkish/violet accents in the shadow areas of the figure complement well those same colors in the backgrounded and on the floor, unifying the positive and negative spaces well, tying it all together. And, last but not least, the fetish gear, undies, hair bow and shoes all being black puts a strong "punctuation" on the entire piece, finishing it off nicely.
