I'm still resting up after my surgery, but I should have a chapter of 30 Days out in a day or two. Sorry for the delay. Happy voting everyone!
Harry x Rita Skeeter, Harry knows that the press doesn’t believe him that Voldemort is back so he tracks her down and finds her drunk trying to score for the night he convinces her if she backs him he will blow out her back.
Harry/Tonks Tonks likes older men. Loves them in fact. So, when a mysterious man happens to save her during a raid in her first year after finishing her training to be an Auror (she’s 22), she immediately has to know who he is. When she finds out it’s Harry Potter she is in disbelief. But to find out it really is Harry just from about 25 years in the future (Harry is 39) with proof…well, he was objectively handsome. What’s the worst that could happen if she dragged him to her bed for a wild night of fun?
Harry/Tonks: Sixth Year, Harry and Tonks help each other out sexually after Remus rejects Tonks and Harry is still grieving Sirius. Two years later, a surviving Tonks admits to Harry that Teddy is Harry's son.
Harry/Septima Vector: The Goblet of Fire decides that an under-aged competitor will not do. Utilizing vasts magics at it's disposal, the Goblet has Harry under go a "simulation" of his next 4 years from the present until his "death" at the hands of Voldemort. This grants Harry the necessary knowledge and growth to fairly compete in this tournament according to the Goblet. To outside observers, Harry is engulfed in flames one minute and next has the fire fade to reveal an older Harry. Meanwhile, Harry has experiences that only he can remember. However when he goes about to validate his memories, they prove to be right? Additionally, from a more mature perspective, he notices that a lot of women are giving him certain looks and some of them are more blatant than others. Did Prof. Vector just drool?

During the World Cup Riot, Rita gets cornered by the Death Eaters and is nearly violated and killed due to a lot of them wanting to pay her back over things she wrote about them over the years. Harry, who is seperated from the group stumbles across the scene and saves Rita from a horrible fate. (Crouch Jr stole Draco's wand instead of Harry's due to a difference in seating so he casts the Dark Mark with that wand.) Harry then gets Rita to safety. During the time afterward while the clean up is happening, Harry helps the shaken Rita by distracting her with conversation. From this a friendship forms and gets Rita more interested in the person behind the fame. After they go their seperate ways, she begins an investigation into Harry's life out of curiousity and learns of both his horrible home life and the rumors about the goings on at Hogwarts, leading to more and more interesting tales than even she could have ever dreamed of and many many stories to tell. And thanks to Harry's kindness and saving her, she begins to become a more serious journalist again like she was years ago when she was optomistic and hopeful she could be an intrepid journalist, exposing truth and corruption, championing good causes with integrity that sort of thing. But working for the Prophet and the propaganda machine it turned out to be turned her bitter and cynical while grinding her down until she eventually gave up her old dream. Plus everything that happened during and immediately after the 1st British Wizarding Civil War (as I call the war from the Books) didn't help this outlook. The truth, as they say, is often even stranger than fiction. And the more and more she dives into the truth, the more and more danger is revealed. After learning what she knows and not doing her usual stuff, the prophet drops her. But Harry uses his wealth to fund the creation of his own paper/magazine etc with Rita as his new editor and publicist from a hidden location known only to contracted employees allowing her to print the stories that the Prophet would never have let her do. Never fuck with a journalist who knows about a lot of the skeletons in your closet.

The idea behind my prompt for those of you who aren't on the discord or didn't see the discussion there goes back from that discussion. Some people like to compare Rita to Umbridge, which simply isn't the case. She may have a few unpleasant traits but is ultimately a just cyncial realist and survivor trying to make a living. I doubt she'd go as far as to torture and kill people like Umbridge. I think she tried to be a better reporter when she was younger but became disillusioned and cynical to the point she just gave up as the Prophet "Only exists to sell itself" in her words. She also tried to get into the Slug Club in school likely to make better connections but an ill timed prank by one Bilton Bilmes caused her to lose her chance after she'd put a lot of effort into getting invited and she resented him ever since. And she clearly isn't an untalented Witch considering she became an Animagus on her own with seemingly no help. And there is plenty of evidence that when she puts her mind to it, she can actually write accurate articles and books. Based on what I've seen in her history bio, she does have the traits of someone who is hardworking, intelligent, a good networker, and trying to fight for a place for herself in this world of theirs. I imagine at first she was optomistic and hopeful she could be an intrepid journalist, exposing truth and corruption, championing good causes with integrity that sort of thing. But working for the Prophet and the propaganda machine it turned out to be turned her bitter and cynical while grinding her down until she eventually gave up her old dream. One of the reasons she could dislike Hermione is that she used to be like her in a way. And Hermione makes her remember a time that she was even hopeful and actually looked forward to be journalist and novelist. That Journalists have very stressful jobs on top of this probably didn't help her outlook in life any as time passed. From the lowest beat reporter to the news media executive, this is one of the most stressful careers around. Journalists have to deal with deadlines, busy work environments, crazy schedules, travel, demanding editors, a more demanding public, and the fear of being laid off. Being that the Prophet is Britian's only known Magical Newspaper (and one of the few print medias) just adds to this on top of it being heavily censored by the Ministry. The rest are just magazines and books. And we actually see what happens to a reporter who doesn't print what they want in the Magical world via Rita herself when she's forced to not write her usual pieces in the year after the Triwizard Tournament. As when we next see her she's not looking too hot. Rowling portrayed Rita badly due to bias toward Journalists. So a lot of potential was lost with this character methinks. I mean more nueanced characters are always a good thing. As people are made up of many parts wouldn't you agree. And to those who say she'd be too old for Harry and she's was an unpleasant person. I point towards the numerous fanfictions involving Narcissa, Bellatrix, and other reformed (or not) female Death Eaters stories or the ones involving him with Amelia, Appoline, etc.

2023-09-14 04:33:36 +0000 UTCSame, but reversed. I'm really intrigued by the GoF aging Harry up and think it's quite fresh and new (a rarity in fanfiction). The MN01 story is more conventional, but has real heart and represents a fascinating story. I really want both.

Honestly, hiding Teddy's parentage from Harry for so long is the worst thing she could possibly do to Harry, who desires family more than anything - to miss his firstborn child's early years would break his heart. I don't understand people's like of that venomous bitch Rita Skeeter, so by process of elimination more than anything else I'll have to vote for Aurora Septima.
