Story Ideas 30
Added 2024-01-16 07:11:27 +0000 UTCI've got three new story ideas bouncing in my head. Both Dorm Party and Tutor Me are getting close to the end, and I'm working on what to replace them with. Along with some of the older Story Ideas I've posted, these are the new ideas I've come up with.
1. Back to the Beginning - Aged up sixth year. While Harry is exploring the Room of Requirement, he discovers and accidentally breaks a Time-Turner, sending him back to the time of the Founders. Nothing is like what he expected. Gryffindor is a loud, obnoxious ass. Ravenclaw is cold and calculating. Hufflepuff is kind, but runs a school brothel. And Harry finds a friend and mentor in Salazar Slytherin?
I've mentioned Ravenclaws Coven in Dorm Party, and I thought of this as an opportunity to explore the origins of that. Harry, as a mysterious figure from the future, is of a lot of interest to the founders and the students. Ravenclaw wants him to help produce powerful children that will benefit the magical world for generations to come. Hufflepuff sees him as a broken soul she needs to heal through love. Gryffindor's daughters are fascinated by his tales of heroism. And the Slytherin witches see him as the future of their world, and want to solidify a connection with him.
Can Harry find a way back home before he changes too much?
2. Last Wizard Standing - On October 31st, 1981, Voldemort didn't attack the Potters. Instead, a magical illness swept through Magical Britain. In a matters of weeks, every wizard is dead. All except one, Harry Potter. With Britain in chaos, no known cause, and the country quarantined by the ICW, Lily and McGonagall decide to hide Harry away. For years, he grows up in secret at Hogwarts, only coming out to explore during the Summers. After years of failed research, boys born from Muggles ending up as Squibs, and a dwindling population, a decision is made. At 17, it's up to Harry to repopulate Magical Britain.
3. An Unlikely Union - When they get paired together in Charms in 6th year, Harry and Daphne both have misconceptions about the other. Over time, they find out that they have a lot more in common than they expected. While Daphne has no interest getting involved in the war, she finds herself inexorably drawn to the enigmatic young man. This story doesn't follow the war, but the relationship of two lovers trying to stay together despite a world trying to tear them apart.
More of a romance with smut.

2024-01-18 03:27:29 +0000 UTCI'd be fine with any of them, but 2 seems like the most novel (and therefore interesting). Assuming that Option 3 is centered around the pairing, then there is nothing that hasn't been done here. So for me the interest of this option is what you'd do with it. Given that I trust your writing skill, I'd be down for this, but it's not super interesting by itself. Option 1 has a ton of room to play with which is good, but its a double edged sword. I'd hate to see this advance a ton and then get blocked by trying to resolve how to wrap it up. Option 2, while seemingly a bit wild, is less tread ground and generally seems a bit easier in terms of story construction (ie. the story ends after we figure out why all the other wizards died out and resolve any remaining threads). I feel we'd get a good story out of this.

(I've seen a very similar idea done by another author on ff.n and it was kind of difficult to read, for me at least, past the first couple of chapters, but I have confidence that you can do it better.)

2024-01-16 09:39:32 +0000 UTC3's the most interesting one for me, I like Harry/Daphne and enjoy a good romance. 1 could be interesting, but for some reason smut with a fandom character and a bunch of OCs tends to be more miss than hit for me. Pass on 2, I've never been a fan of that particular type of premise.

So over all the only one that shows real promise for a new story is 1.

2024-01-16 08:13:19 +0000 UTCDefinitely a huge Haphne fan so option three easily takes it for me, and I personally really prefer and enjoy most your stories that focus more on individual characters and their relationships more than an ensemble cast. I don't think two is that interesting but one has some merits even if there are likely only a few characters that seem interesting to connect with. There's definitely a lack of familiar ground that might make it feel strange but could be a place for you to explore a much different environment.

2024-01-16 07:50:18 +0000 UTCI agree that option 2 is (to me) one that has been overused, and while I know that about 99% of all bi/straight teenage boys would think themselves the luckiest person ever to not only have the option, but be encouraged to sleep with every available female, it would be far to Machiavelian for Lily to allow her son to be used that way, especially as she was able to fall in love with James. This particular scenario has never sat right with me

2024-01-16 07:45:39 +0000 UTCGotta be 1. 2 and 3 are both overdone, there is a lot of very good fics about Daphne and the only wizard per 1000s witches crops up really often as well, although quality can be lacking. Harry in founders era is a much rarer find, and if you want that with romance and/or smut god help you.

2024-01-16 07:29:54 +0000 UTCNo. 1 sounds like a clear winner and gets my vote; even if I didn't like the idea and wasn't intrigued by the world of the past as you described it, which I actually do and am, its simple quality of being novel separates it from the vast sea of HP fiction/Smut and makes it more appealing to see. No. 3 would be my second choice, purely because of my belief in your ability to make it a good story. It has been done, but when done right, it's enjoyable. Beside its lack of novelty, the idea also loses because of the time investment needed to make the story believable before anything spicy or romantic happens. No. 1 is different, for depending on how you write it, and due to the intrigue surrounding the time traveler and the difference of the world in the past as you described it, Harry could stumble into something almost immediately. No. 2 is a clear loser for me. That type of story has been done. It's never good. It never makes sense. Not even in a porn universe.

The story can be that the characters are pulled into a room it can be the room of requirements and have them read a book. the book could be one of your own that you written or just have them read the actual books but with smut and Harry being paired and having a harem of all of the girls we love. It actually be fun if you did a story with the characters reading the books and then another story with the characters reading one of your stories. Anyways went off topic and yea my vote is for #1
