ERI is the granddaughter of the former leader of the Shie Hassaikai. She was the centerpiece of Kai Chisaki's operation to manufacture the Quirk Destroying Drug. After she was rescued, she lives in the Academy dormitories.
Due to her mother disowning her after she accidentally made her father disappear with her Quirk and the experiments she was subjected to by Overhaul, Eri became a fearful and isolated child with no one showing her affection in her life. Apparently Izuku's touch was the first time she felt kindness, which overwhelmed her. U.A.
Unfortunately after her rescue, Eri still suffers psychologically from Overhaul's influence, as she cannot smile and has no experience in happiness. However, this changes thanks to the events of the U.A. Cultural Festival. and during Class 1-A's performance, Eri frees herself from the ghost of Overhaul that was tormenting her and manages to smile and laugh for the first time. After being able to be happy, Eri becomes more cheerful with those she is familiar with and slowly gets used to her new life at U.A.
