rn I honestly can't remember a time when I haven't listened to kpop as a whole, and It only been like 2 years since I started listening to bts and then started listening to other groups like ateez, txt, verivery, twice,stray kids, enhypen, seventeen, shinee, nct etc. I've made so many friends through them

before I became an army I wouldn't say that I disliked them I would listen to their more popular tracks like dna, boy with luv when they released. I just thought that kpop was just like all bubblegum pop music, which I wasn't really into. but when I sat down and listened to their albums I realized I was wrong and it introduced me to a whole new world of music. Unfortunately i do know some people irl who are ignorant and hate them for no reason, which is why I realized that it's so important to have friends who also listen to kpop so you can have someone to talk to and go to concerts with or else it'll get lonely.

I previously didnt know about them, but when i first got introduced to them I liked them from the get go, especially since i saw Jimin dance and sing first.

Before I turned army in 2020, I stumbled on their performances sometimes for years when they were on US award shows. But they just seemed like another boyband to me (plus I didn't get kpop), so I personally wasn't interested at all. Not a hater, just didn't seem like my thing... I think my mind started to change when I saw their carpool karaoke video, where I got a sense of their down-to-earth, funny personalities! I gradually fell into watching their funny interviews, then months later tried their music. LGO is what changed my mind, bc it didn't sound like the "pop boyband" I thought they were at all. Then I dove into the rabbit hole... Tbh, no other group interests me, so I'm not a fan of kpop as a whole. BTS just has the whole package of meaningful lyrics, personalities, and talents that I personally feel are unmatched. They're the ones for me!

I very vaguely remember hearing about kpop like idk 7 or 8 years ago and thought it was cringe tbh (yes I know, definitely judged wrong). But I randomly got recommended Dynamite in 2020 and fell DEEP into the rabbit hole lol. The next day I told my mom I had joined the army, to which she lost her shit 😂

Ooo to answer ur question. I wasnt hating on bts specifically but i def had my negative opinions about kpop as a whole so they were part of it. I was one of the people thinking it was weird and had some irrational strong dislike for it just because it was getting popular. My cousin was a big bts fan and honestly i'd kinda roast her for it, but I'm a dancer and she got me with showing me their dance practices. Now I've been a fan for 6 years lol. I've tried getting into kpop as a whole but it doesn't really do it for me. Good performances but I'm not a big fan of the music. But I do like some Korean rnb artists. Now i realize everyone's got their taste and i shouldn't be so quick to judge ! Music is music and its gonna hit everyone differently and its just weird to hate on that lmaoo
