“set for life” is not the right translation of his words in Korean.. I think he was trying to express his faith and trust in the team and members back in the day. At least that’s how we express it in such word-to-word translation to English, but it has a different nuance. Anyway, for sure - the two ex-trainees said that 7 members are the reason for the success of BTS, and any other form would not have brought the same result that we see now. I totally agree - they are the perfect combo, perfect team, true harmony to stand for the message they’ve been speaking for now almost a decade.

I understand him wanting to get this experience off his chest and be heard, though, bc that's crazy to be the *last* cut. But yeah, even if they were very close while trainees, they were all kids/teenagers then. Everyone grows apart from most of their middle school/high school friends. Hopefully he's able to healthily move on or pursue his own dreams.

I think this guy did this video bc he understandably needed to get it off his chest- being the very last cut is a crazy history. I'm sure he's not a bad person, but I think Bang PD knew what he was doing when he let him go from the team, for whatever reasons. It could be a weird translation, but it did rub me the wrong way that he said, "If I just followed these guys, I knew I'd be set for life". That translation sounded like he himself wasn't as invested in music/the artistry/band, but almost like he would've just rode on the other members' talents? However, it was humble of him to say that BTS wouldn't have been as big if he were in the group. Bang PD chose just the right amount of just the *perfect* team.

When being famous is all you care about, it shows how arrogant you would be once in that position. People with that mindset tend to be rude to staff and the members of the group because they think that they're high and mighty. BTS don't praise being famous. Throughout the years, we have seen how humble and genuine they are. Bang PD was seeing past the talents, and apparently, this particular trainee and others didn't pass his vibe test.

Idk he kind of contradicts himself a few times. It rubs me the wrong way he did this interview in the first place. I think the bighit staff weren't just looking at skills per say, but at the kind of person you were. His main goal was to be famous. All members of current bts never expected nor wanted the level of fame they have. That may be part of the reason they are where they are. Having a member with the wrong frame of mind is how bands break apart so fast. Their genuine love of music, work ethic, and the way they work things out between each other is what got them where they are, not just talent. So though he may have had talent, I think staff could tell personality wise his head wasn't in the right space. The other guy he met up with made sense, if he or anyone else had been a member, the group would not have reached where they are today.

There were so many trainees of BTS and I don't doubt they were somewhat close, but I think he's exaggerating how close they were. The boys still have time to go out with their friends and even post some pictures of when they go out with them. This all seems like a ploy to ride off of BTS's success to me, and he seems unhealthily attached to those days. He seems a little too obsessed with fame. Idk, just my opinion tho.
