Mega-Trip Log #4: Emerald City Comicon
Added 2017-03-26 23:07:56 +0000 UTCI arrived in Seattle late Saturday, so all I had time to do was drop my things off at a friend's place, go eat some burgers, and then pass out. But the next day, I had the whole Sunday to go to Emerald City Comicon! :D
As a regular PAX West goer, this was such a weird experience! I'd never seen the convention center hosting any event other than PAX, so having it partially filled out with a very different show floor (and an actual artist's alley) made things feel very uncanny. I didn't get much beyond some prints and stickers from artists I like, but I did get some nifty things like fridge magnets (that is prime space that can be used by cute things) and my first plushie! Well, the first plushie I ever bought myself, that is. Her name is Hoppy and she's a Squishable kangaroo mouse and I love her to bits. She's been in the background of my streams ever since I came back home. 🐭
I didn't actually attend any panels; my day was filled enough with going to meet artists I follow. I got to say hi to Abby Howard! And Katy Farina! And meet bunches more too! It was a surprisingly chill time, because I had no plans; I was there to wander, discover, and have fun. I need more experiences like this one in my life.
(I was also in cosplay! I was in costume as Alex from Dumbing of Age , which means that I was wearing one of the outfits I actually own! It was the easiest cosplay I've ever had to put together. :D Thanks David!)
Since it was just the one day, my time at ECCC was rather short. But I did have a great (and tumultuous!) few days in Seattle, which you'll hear about in the next log!
