Dev Log #29 - A tough decision

Hi all! The year is just rolling along as we enter nearly mid-April of 2023. I hope everyone is doing well and would like to wish nothing but positivity as we all begin to enter the mid-year of 2023! Let's get into it!
First things first...
There has been some deliberation on my end about one aspect of the game that I'll admit has been hastily added in without much long-term thought: which was the part where Cara is transformed into a futanari. I subsequently wanted to present the player an option early on in E1P2 to choose between 2 routes (futa/non-futa).
At the time and previously before this dev log, I found it to be a brilliant idea as it added depth and mystery to an already decent build-up since the Prologue, but of course, as I really got into the weeds to work through specific scenes, it has noticeably become more of a hassle than previously expected. I am by no means the best in terms of rendering or animations, but adding alternate "what-if" renders for futa/non-futa Cara is definitely a bigger workload than anticipated.
For context for those unaware, I have previously shared preview screenshots depicting Cara in outfits that show futa/non-futa shots (i.e. see-through dresses that show her private regions). Initially, I was all for the idea of having the player choose between these two paths of futa or non-futa. As seen above, this turned out to be a bad idea, as it is impacting the quality as well as the pace of the game. I have no one to blame but myself for taking on this task that I'm ultimately backing out of. A bad decision is a bad decision and I'm willing to admit it when I see it and cut my losses.
So... what's going to happen?
To summarize (for the above part): There will still be scenes in E1P2 where Cara is a futa but the choice that I initially planned to present to the player early on in E1P2 on whether they want Cara to stay as one or to revert to her female genitals will be removed. This will ensure the story is paced better without allocating additional brainpower to figure out sex/vore scenes where certain camera shots can work for one path for not the other, removing unnecessary complexity.
In the end, Cara in Creekmaw is a vore game and I would like to think of this reversed decision as a lesson for myself moving forward that I can deliver a scene that contains specific genres (i.e. a cock vore scene showing futa Cara) instead of fully committing to the idea when it is unrelated to the main focus and reason for Cara in Creekmaw's creation in the first place (futa Cara meaning different scenes have to be planned around it, character reactions, etc.).
In general, the overarching story is not affected as they are enclosed within themselves and were not conceptualized with futa/non-futa Cara in mind, so that is definitely a big relief as well.
Progress update!
Phew... okay! With that discussion past us, it is time to discuss the current progress of the game.
Render-wise, I'm starting on the first H-scene of Day 4, which will contain four H-scenes in total. Progress was definitely slowed slightly due to the conundrum mentioned above, but with this renewed (and reversed) decision moving forward, I will expect to finish Day 4 near the end of next week (around 16th April)!
Dialogue/game-wise, I have completed the first pass of dialogue up to the second last scene of Day 3. I will be finishing it up and doing quick touchups before moving on to Day 4 as the dialogue closes up with the current rendering progress.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In summary, here's a quick breakdown of progress so far:
Story: 70% done. Focused on dialogue writing of Day 3 and rendering of Day 4. No progress from last week.
Dialogue/Gameplay: 15% done. Done up to the second last scene of Day 3. Will look to do a quick touchup before moving on to Day 4. Up 5% from last week.
Rendering: 20% done. Day 4 is underway. Slightly slower than expected due to the deliberation of the decision (mentioned above) but will pick up shortly. Up 2.5% from last week.
Alright, that is all for this week's dev log! It's a bit of a long one, but that is expected as my focus since day 1 is to be crystal clear about expectations and the going-ons with the game's development (which is exactly what these weekly logs are for). Understandably, it is a hard decision but I strongly believe it is the right one.
Thank you and stay safe!
