Dev Log #34 - Speeding up!
Added 2023-05-19 23:00:02 +0000 UTCHi all, welcome back to another edition of the dev log! It's hard to believe I've basically been writing these every week and that we're already on number 34, but I digress. Let's get into it!
On track
The general update for this week is that the game as well as rendering are moving along smoothly, and I'm consistently pumping out dialogue for completed renders and have about 80 scene files in the queue right now waiting to render.
Currently, the dialogue (audio included) is written up to more than halfway into Day 5. and I'm 90% done in terms of posing Day 5. This means that render-wise, I'm closing in on starting the posing of Day 6 scenes in a matter of a few days.
This progress is definitely way faster than the time I took producing Day 4, which took me about 3-4 weeks to finish up, as I was busy re-arranging multiple story beats at the time and was not fully focused on rendering/dialogue (as these two areas are heavily dependent on the flow of the story), not to mention some real-life busy-work as well as my absence from before.
What's planned?
As the release month of June is fast approaching, here are the things I have left on my plate:
- One major scene in Day 5 (currently near completion)
- One major scene and three minor scenes on Day 6 (4 total)
- One major scene and two minor scenes on Day 7 (3 total, 1 scene removed)
- Journal logs (not yet added to the game)
- Phone messaging dialogue (50% done)
In summary, it looks to be quite a lot of work. Even though this is the case, I am aiming to complete this list of items by about mid-June, before preparing for release (i.e. spell-checking, play-testing). In summary, the tentative release window for E1P2 will be mid-June but do know that this is not the finalized release window, and I will give more updates as the weeks roll along and when I have more confidence in the release window/date.
Regarding June custom renders
For the custom renders of June, do note that they will be produced and released together with the July custom renders. This will allow me to focus on game development during the month of June. Once the dust settles on the episode release, I will resume work on the custom renders (which is most likely extremely late into June).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In summary, here's a quick breakdown of progress so far:
Story: 100% done. I have committed to my planned flow of scenes and will not be doing any rearrangements or fine-tuning. One scene was removed from Day 7. Up 5% from the previous dev log.
Dialogue/Gameplay: 50% done. Day 5 is halfway done. Up 20% from the last dev log.
Rendering: 55% done. Day 5 is almost done with posed scenes awaiting rendering. Up 15% from the last dev log.
Keeping it short and sweet for this week as I want to quickly return to finish up and deliver the content I have planned, but, before I go, I do want to thank everyone for being patient with me on this and I can't wait for you guys to experience this next part of Cara in Creekmaw!
Thank you, stay safe, and stay tuned for more!
